      There are profession leveling guides that tell you which patterns to use and how much of each crafting material you need.
      My advice is to get two gathering professions and gather everything you need for the two crafting professions you will ultimately level later. Make a separate toon to take over gathering duties later.
      People will supply their own mats when they need things crafted and they will pay you so buying mats will also be an option later.
      You will always get the most out of you toon as long as you run engineering and another crafting profession of your choosing. Im partial to Engineering+Alchemy.

      So far its monotonous, go here kill this go there gather some shit. Kill these and get drops. What am I missing exactly? At the very least later expansions have me more story. So far the only really story driven quest seem go be the atonement stuff. Which makes sense, and it's the coolest of shit. Not to mention hard and requires teamwork. But that's endgame content, otherwise the most fun I had leveling was the IF to DS gauntlet trying to freeze high level mobs, then a warrior rolled through and escorted me the rest of the way to MH. After that, just back to killing A for B.
      I'm not trying to shit on you or anything. I'm just trying to understand the appeal. So far the most fun is running Dungeons, and doing your class specific quest to unlock your skills. But all that said, to each their own. Soon as I dinged 60 I decided to work on professions.

I enjoy more the leveling experience on vanilla as you have more challenge against mobs, when you get a boe, even a green one, it can ne an upgrade, cooking, first aid are useful, you get a talent point each level and you have new spells and for me as least it feels more rewarding

    When I was a solo player in Vanilla I made many alts up to level 20 and leveled professions on them that weren't on my main, and just used those characters and their bank space for those professions. I don't know for sure if they will keep the requirement of level 20 to be able to max a profession or some of the recipes level requirements, but that is what I did so I didn't have to rely on other people to gain gear or food buffs or potions. I did however level my alchemist to 49 just so I could go into scholomance and use that alch table.
    My main was a Mining-Blacksmith, so I made all my own dark iron gear, and farmed Thorium and Mithril for many days just so I could afford the mats to level the other professions.

    As I have posted before, my whole EQ guild went to WoW on a guild invite from Blizzard. We had static leveling groups, and streamed across the Barrens as newbies with 10 separate groups, often "fighting" each other for quest mobs (all in fun). We mostly all hit 60 within a week of each other. Maybe 10 fell behind due to work and family commitments. Yes, we have gotten older, if not wiser. So what did the 60s do besides tradeskills (engineering, alchemy, tailering, blacksmithing)? We ran dungeons to catch everyone up, and get everyone BIS gear. We even went back and ran Ony and BWL for a couple people. This was the old school way from EQ. Everyone was there to help, if you didn't help, you got kicked out of the guild. We owned EQ, and we owned WoW.

    One thing about the pre-raid BIS lists. The old lists aren't accurate anymore. With Blizzard announcing that when classic launched all items that existed at launch but had been updated throughout the life of vanilla will be in their 1.12 form right from the start. This will in some cases dramatically change the pre-raid BIS lists. To be clear, progressive itemization will only affect items added new in various patches. It does does not affect existing items that were changed at various times.

  • @bindulanija
    @bindulanija Před 5 lety +2

    One by one:
    - Tailoring gives you BiS chestpiece for each cloth armor class that is stronger than T1 even T2, for Priests replaced by T2, but mages and locks in that time are getting Bloodvine which require tailoring to get 2% crit chance.
    - To be able to craft Blacksmithing FR gear you need guild support via mats, and even then materials from Thorium brothers come in two waves, so it is a very long wait until you get there. Having Blacksmithing has its value only if you get Arcanite Reaper (Axesmith) or Lionheart helm (armorsmith) recipes early on to make a huge amount of money.
    - LW should be avoided on main char unless you are going to be guilds Ony Scale Cloak / Corehound Belt / NR gear crafter.
    - Enchanting is not required for enchanting your own gear, good advice would be to level bank alt to lvl 5 to be able to pick (dis)enchanting. This way you will have a steady amount of enchanting mats in your bank from only sending not needed greens and blues.
    - Enchanting as the main profession should only be on feral druids since BiS trinket comes from enchanting.
    - The most common setup for PVE will be herb/engi. The best combination is to level alt to lvl 35 (for 225+) for LW/Alch, which gives you the ability to learn most recipes, including transmutes and cured rugged hide. Being a high level professional in any other setup will require guild to support you.
    On rest: You have 10 players in UBRS raid, everyone enters 4 times and resets the instance with "/tar Jed", that is 40 tries on UBRS to get Jed ID, still not granted drop but most UBRS runs are with Jed ID.

    honestly in my day one of the most valuable things i could do on my lowbie priest WAS tailoring. once you had the patterns for shirts - which were admittedly hard to get at times - you could basically farm money from the auction house. maybe it was because i was on an RP server, but in my experience people would KILL for a nice shirt to go with their prettiest gear.
    that being said, i'd definitely take it on an alt rather than on a main; you need a good farming character to get the cloth needed to actually make the shirts. my recommendation would be to have your main farmer be a BM hunter or demo warlock post-40, and to farm mainly silk and mageweave with professions like mining/herbalism or skinning/mining or something going at the same time to max out how much you can get out of a zone when you farm. you'll also need to have at least Journeyman, if not Expert, crafting level on your tailoring alt. your highest value shirts will be white/black/red swashbucklers' shirts, dark/rich purple/formal white silk shirts, orange/lavender/pink/orange martial mageweave shirts, and the stylish red/stylish blue/stylish green/gray woolen shirts if you end up with enough wool in the process.
    and if you get to mooncloth, take that alt up to level 35 to make them an Artisan and grind the fuck out of their tailoring until you can make mooncloth robes 'cause those things sell like hotcakes. i am not kidding. you will be rich beyond your wildest dreams and every night elf/troll priestess (the ones with the teeny weeny tusks and the babyface, you know who i'm talking about) on the server will love you.
    eventually, you'll be able to make bags too. but we all know you're going to be a good little grunt and put those in the guild bank, right? *right?* of course you are.
    -sincerely, An Old-Ass Lesbian What Has Played This Game Too Much

  • @samisuhonen9815

    Are dungeon/tier 0 and tier 0.5 sets any good? (I know tier 0.5 is a massive grind so there is no point going for it if you're going to raid).
    Specifically I'm looking to play a hunter, but I don't think I will be joining a raiding guild due to inconsistent timewindows for playing (unable to show up in raids consistently). I will be looking to just farm world content for gold, gank some people for fun, and do a lot of BGs when they are released.
    So what I'm wondering is if the hunter dungeon set is worth it? Ofc raid gear is the best, but will I get totally trashed to the ground by anyone in even half MC or BWL gear with my dungeon 4 piece and some pre raid BiS?
    And I think hunters are a good class for players without that much gear, since they have a good toolkit for kiting, loads of range. And I hear their dmg is better than most classes when badly geared, but they don't scale as well with gear as other classes. And I thought of going 21 marks for aimedshot crits, range, 5% ranged crit and scatter shot, while specing 30 in survival for 10% max hp, 5% parry, deterrence and the 3% hit, 3% crit, and the huge 15% agi. I feel like those base stats you get from talents kind of compensate for having meh gear.

    Regarding Briarwood Reed, the trinket off the rarespawn Jed Runewatcher in UBRS, it's actually BiS for all casters and healers IIRC. I've leveled a priest, shaman, warlock and druid on pservers. Collectively I must've done literally hundreds of UBRS runs with Jed in all of them (just do /tar Jed once you enter instance to see if he spawned. If not, reset the dungeon) and I never got it on any character xD

  • @TheToledoTrumpton
    @TheToledoTrumpton Před 5 lety +1

    I remember the Fire Resist grind. It is really painful to have to wear green FR gear because you cant get to 100 or 150 FR and leave off your BIS gear because you can't make the required FR.
    It just takes hours in BRD unless you get really lucky. You can get a pretty good set together in no time without the FR, maybe not BIS but not far off, but that FR is a hard number that you have to reach, and doing it with gear that has 10FR each hurts your stats really badly.

    • @mezz9159
      @mezz9159 Před 5 lety

      Why would you farm fire res gear? Fire protection pots and you're good. MAYBE the one tank that is tanking up Ragnaros might want to get some fire res. For the rest of the raid it's pure waste. Get an engineer to create you loads of Flame Defelctors. These bad boys block 600 fire dmg and don't share potion CD afaik.

    • @TheToledoTrumpton
      @TheToledoTrumpton Před 5 lety

      @@mezz9159 This is the problem with private servers. They just are not accurate. You are going to need 100-150 unbuffed FR for MC, even if you are ranged.
      Flame deflectors require engineering to use in the real game. And FR Pots are going to be prohibitively expensive until the top guilds are through MC.
      Without FR, things like the bomb will one shot you.

    Tailoring creates a super pre-bis robe for Warlocks, Mages, and Priests. I can't speak for mages and warlocks but I know the priest one is only replaced by tier 2.
    Also the likelihood of the devilsaur mafia existing on retail classic is very low. The entire system relied on cross-faction collusion that was only allowed by poor moderation on private servers.

    • @josynaemikohler6572
      @josynaemikohler6572 Před 5 lety +2

      The Mage robe is very good, with having a lot of spell damage, crit, and an attached Mana gem. The Warlock one is probably the weakest of them in terms of raiding. While it offers 46 spelldmg, which is still BIS at that level, it has no crit or hit. And the On Use effect is worthless in a raid. Still a very good robe, until the Bloodvine set arrives. Just not on the power level of the other two.

      Only ~ 12, 5 % of all 7 mill subscribers got to do eng game content. Ofc you will found raiding guild. Important question is - do you want it? I started playing on TBC, played last year on Elysium and after I hitted 60 - game suddenly transformed into BFA, I mean I farmed all preraid gear and then there was only - farm gold for raids -> raid -> farm gold for raids -> raid. I was like "Ok, leveling is cool 1000 times cooler than retail, but I leaved BFA cause all I was doing - farm gold and azerite -> raid -> azerite and gold -> raid." I think that WoW in 2005 gathered every casual, that hated MMO, but loved warcraft. Like really - very few guilds on my server in TBC were doing hardcore raiding and I was playing on high pop server. Same goes for all next expansions. I guess 90 % of people always were just doing their own shit instead of end game content. Like running random BGs, gathering etc. I remember how in my guild we had like 30 active members and 70 - 90 that were logging 2 - 3 times per week. An anomaly of a game indeed, game for those who like social aspect of MMO, but hates grind aspect of MMO.
