And before that in April, Splatoon 2 is getting a major free update (Version 3.0) that contains 100+ new pieces of gear, more stages rolling out throughout spring (Piranha Pit, Camp Triggerfish and Wahoo World) and a new rank (Rank X). Rank X is an extreme rank, even higher than S+.

Ashley_ For playing Octolings you need to pay :( why Nintendo.
Because it's a massive DLC pack, it's a full blown EXPANSION. Also, I think they want to keep it balanced with Inklings still being used in the multiplayer. Think about it, if playable Octolings were available as free DLC, EVERYONE would use them and the Inklings would get the shaft. At least for a while.. This will help keep a healthy mix in the battles. To me, it's well worth the 20 bucks. Honestly, what is 20 bucks these days? Not that much... I spend double that just gassing up my car. Also, look at how much FREE content we have gotten and continue to get. The trailer right there begins with all those version 3.0 updates. New stages, new gear, new music, new X rank... Nintendo gives Splatoon so much love and attention. It's hard to complain.
Man. It's already been a year and a bit.
I remember how I saw this. My whole town had lost power in a snowstorm. The cold and dark really started to freak me out. It didn't look like we were getting power any time soon. I said my goodbyes to my friends before my phone died, and my family went to a hotel. After a well-deserved rest in a heated building, which felt like the best thing in the world, I saw that there was a new Direct.
Needless to say, I pre-ordered the same day.

Apparently, the eshop description stated around 80 stages and you’d have to beat the full campaign in order to play as the octoling. Im kind of happy that this is the case in that you have to earn the playable character rather then pay for it.

Well... Almost, they did give what we asked; but at a cost. If you don't know what I'm talking about it is the old-school specials like the Kraken, Inkzooka, and the Inkstrike. (which would be confusing to implement) All-in-all it's great but I grief since there is no Kraken and I mained it back in Splatoon 1.

I think this also confirms Animal Crossing isn't coming this year. Splatoon devs are the same people behind AC and they're giving this game so much love. Not that I'm mad about that though, Splatoon is my favorite Wii U game. Maybe favorite online TPS ever.

On the competitive side however, yes it is just the same battles over and over again, but you could say the same about most sports. Personally I find sports boring so I think I know where you're coming from, but I love the challenge and thrill of a good fight with an equally skilled opponent.

Well we got additional hairstyles for the inklings via an update back in December, so perhaps the devs will release additional hairstyles for octolings too.

*Dark-as-heck new story-mode like mode with a sexy octo and Pearl & Marina as the 2 inportant character like Callie & Marie are in the normal history mode plus it's fanservicy and some hard stages with 8-Balls.*

Cecily Luby. I'm thankful they didn't. Releasing Splatoon 3 would only divide the online community, AND it would cost another $60. I like the path Nintendo is choosing for this one. Basically releasing a new game (new single player at least) for only $20 as an addition to the game we already have. It costs only $20 and it keeps the online community INTACT!!

There is a Sunken Scroll in Splatoon 2 that depicts the final battle in Splatoon 1 (I believe it is the second level’s). It clearly shows a female Inkling. Also, ANOTHER Scroll said that Cuttlefish and Agent 3 went off to the coast to investigate something, which was taken as the reason for their absence (until now, that is). I will even go out on a limb and say that’s the “something” they were investigating was this subway.

Octo expansion was pretty dark. I mean, when the blender was being built, the background noise was the screams of previous victims that fell for the trap. If Octo expansion was able to have that sort of feel to it, I’m genuinely afraid of what Side Order has to offer us.

This finally feels like a true sequal. But if I'm gonna be honest, it now feels like a splatoon 3 and its awesome.
Tbh, it always felt like a true sequel to me. Version 2.0 was just the icing on the cake, and it was free, too.
Yeah with splatoon 1 maps... Camp n piranha are from first game. Same for walleye, arowana mall, kelp dome, port makerel..
Splatoon 2 definitely deserves a 85 on metacritic now. The updates really improved the game.

When I saw the subway, what went through my mind was the subway portion of the hub world that is blocked. Maybe that is the entrance to this octoling adventure.

Man, back when the updates were really exciting, the weapon kits were better, there was a new/returning map every month, and the new maps were actually really good.
I still like Splatoon 3, but I’ll admit it doesn’t hype me up as much as Splatoon 2 used to.
I dont have a switch or ever played splatoon but i adore the art design of splatoon and its characters/world. Its so unique and interesting from the first game to the second with the salmonids to now deepsea creatures. Thats freaking amazing character design. Also love how alot of things are going back to the 80's aesthetic
Buy the art books then, they are HUGE and contain so much great artwork and lore. Literally and basically the entire games in book form. Contains all of the clothing, too.

As a Splatoon 1 veteran Revisiting this, I was kinda bit crying happy tears seeing Octolings as a playable character, And seeing Cap'n Cuttlefish, It made me happy seeing him, then Pearl and Marina, they looked cool, And then the Sanitized octolings looked pretty cool, then Agent 3 Gave me Chills thinking i could go against them or Fight with them
