To those wondering about the lack of crowds, this concert was going to take place in Tokyo. However, they recently got bomb threats in Japan, so they have postponed it for safety. Hope this helps anyone unaware!
@@someweirdothere were threats towards the staff and attendees of the event, so it got canceled
Glad they found a way to persevere. Happy splatoon is thriving in February between this and side order, to greatly enhance the game.

Daliah_727 People take games waaay too seriously and someone probably felt slighted by Nintendo somehow, whether that’s because of their terrible matchmaking or connections or refund policy, and they took it too far and ruined it for everyone

reason why i think everyone was mad was not just because their favorite idol didnt win, but people who knew about callie vs marie back in 2016 were *on edge.* if they somehow chose the wrong thing, or the wrong team won, who knows what could happen? sure, this time it wasnt the final fest, but it could impact the game thats currently still going through updates (at least this type of stuff was speculated when first anniv happened) luckily itr ended up only affecting some dialouge
however at the time i knew that was the least fun i had in a splatfest. i was more stressed that weekend than anything

That Big Betrayal and Anarchy Rainbow performance was AWESOME. Also Frye and Pearl interacting was an idol interaction I never knew I needed in my life.
It really sucks that this performance couldn't be safely held live, but I'm happy that they were able to gather and record a version of the concert for us to watch anyway. All of the musicians are so talented, I'm glad we get to see them rocking out before the idols perform. Also, timestamps for myself:

Did anyone notice how freakin WIDE Shiver's mouth is? If she would open her mouth as wide as possible, she would clearly resemble a shark with that huge mouth of hers. Now I understand why she is one with them which is a beautiful thing
All the band members singing and clapping for Rainbow Anarchy was so cute, they must've had a blast coz without an audience that was basically a high definition jamming session
im so glad they focused on deep cut and their dances more than random, uneven zoom outs/close ups and cuts to the band. the last performance we barely got to see any of the choreography and had to zoom in ourselves to see them. the camera quality is much better as well, and it has good saturation and contrast so they dont look gray. till depth do us part was amazing and is my favorite song out of the others in the set list

Splatoon is always such a bop~ This was so amazing! I absolutely the vocalists of Deep Cut here, and that cameo from Off The Hook was lovely~
Respect the instrumentalists as well, they deserve it~

This was so fun but something was really lost without an audience. Listening/watching the previous concerts, you hear people get SO excited hearing their favorite songs or seeing other characters show up or even just the little interactions. Shame on those that threatened this event. This was just going to be pure, clean fun. :(
Seeing Paper A Thousand Year doors sequence at the end gave me goosebumps still cant believe this game is coming to switch.

seriously though, this concert was awesome, it sucks that peope werent able to see it live
looking at it now after side order released, Marina saying Pearl offered to help with "something" 25:36 and then later in side order in the dev logs Marina was working on the memverse during their world tour, it think thats so cool!
They also mentioned they were about to head to Inkopolis, which was where Side Order happened. Splatoon’s continuum operates on roughly real time which is pretty cool.
