  • I neglected to put a disclaimer at the start of this video -- there are what appear to be 'convergence' issues with the color on this recording. You'll notice that there is bad 'ghosting' in the picture which is pretty far apart on screen, and I believe this contributed to the color being out of whack. I'm not really sure how to describe it. I tried to improve it as best I could with Resolve, but it's still off for sure. There are also numerous instances throughout where the color signal is lost momentarily and goes to black/white . The original source was extremely dark and I brightened the picture. Topaz was used to upscale, double the framerate, and to do a very nice denoise and compression reversion. You can see the before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/dEFYzbu8BB -- My thanks to Fort Knox and his Seahawks CZcams channel -- www.youtube.com/@fortknox4740... -- for providing the DVD files for this project.

    This game was played on 25 Sept '83. I remember that because A. It was my 19 th BD, B. This was the first Hawks game in person. 300 level, South endzone. 12 rows from the concrete roof. Awesome time, aside from the loss.

    i love this game and 1984 Cardinals game a few days back. The Skins played in so many epic games in the 1980s and early 90s. i hope we can get more if possible. Thanks again Dave truly appreciate you and all your hard work and dedication.

    Can't wait to sit and watch this one... This is the year my Raiders beat the Seahawks in the AFC Championship game and then beat the Redskins in the Super Bowl... So this one is going to be an interesting one to watch... Keep em coming Dave!!!

      Washington had an incredible regular season in 1983 (and the giveaway takeaway record they set might never be broken) but they unfortunately didn’t play well in the Super Bowl.
      Seattle won their lone playoff games on the AFC side I believe, and made their lone AFC Championship Game in 1983.
      And Los Angeles beat the team from Washington state, and DC to win it all.
      Fun fact about the Raiders: The following season in 1984, many of their defenders would set an unacknowledged NFL record when they forced 117 opponent punts in a season.

    This was almost the Super Bowl XVIII match up but the Seahawks lost to the Raiders in the AFC Championship game. The Redskins would return to the King Dome in 1989 and beat Seattle 29-0 in the final game of the great Steve Largents career.

    Huge skins fan, so maybe biased but I still say if skins win the Super Bowl in ‘83, Theismann is a hall of famer and the team of the 80’s dynasty talk shifts heavily to the skins provided they still win in ‘87. I know that’s some uncle Rico stuff…love the old games, thanks for the uploads and great quality!

      I'm a life long Cowboys fan. The '83 Redskins were the best team in the league that year. They set a league scoring record that lasted until '98. Didn't see the Raider loss, in the SB, coming. Sometimes weird shit happens. Tough to beat a good team twice in same season.

    Another trip down memory lane. Zorn at QB so I take it this was just prior to the start of the Krieg era in Seattle. I always thought Krieg took over sometime in the latter half of '82 when Mike McCormack was serving as the interim coach but I guess not. I'm pretty sure Krieg started some games in '82 but evidently hadn't yet taken over as the #1 over Zorn yet.
    Another great upload and much appreciated.

    To this day, I'm still shocked how lucky the Raiders got this year. The best team was the Redskins, Their two losses that year were by a total of 2 pts, meaning. Each loss was by one point each game. That offense set records, they even beat Raiders that year. I watch this Super Bowl. It was pure luck and everything went the Raiders way. Even that backyard run Allen did. Whatever with that. Also, I wasn't a Redskins fan.

    I'm sorry, I know it's 1983 and all, but Jim Zorn's mechanics are extremely wonky and lead to a lot of incompletions and interceptions

    • @colorman4490
      @colorman4490 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Nearly every QB in the 70s and 80s threw a ton of INTs. For reference Zorn threw interceptions on 4.5% of his attempts during his career and Hall of Famer Dan Fouts threw interceptions on 4.3% of his attempts during his pro career.
      Joe Namath was at 5.8%.
