I love stonepunk. Especially when they mix in fantsty elements and awesome monsters.
I one almost made a stonepunk/cyberpunk game using the fate system. The idea was that shamans in a fantasy prehistoric setting found out how to steal power from nature spirits to build machines and the current setting was the result of a growing arms race with humanity and Gaia.

@@NylasWUP fate is as much a story-building game as it is an rpg and the players have more control of the setting. I was simply out voted and the game turned into a prehistoric low fantasy game but where there was this bronze age kingdom smack dab in the middle that where pretty much the romans to the pcs gauls. we also had lizard men and the 2 players i had where 2 former slaves, one a shaman, and the other a chosen one who would go searching for temples that the chosen one go through trials for.
That sounds just plain fun.
I find Stonepunk is, in general, more optimistic: everything is new, people start with nothing and the world is against you. Your ancestor were afraid of the dark but now you can farm food and build the first villages for the next generation.
4:00 actually you can thank the novel. In the novel universe, deinonichus was a subspecies of velociraptor. Crichton got the idea from a paleoart book if I'm not mistaken that said the same thing.

In the 1990s you couldn't go five feet without hearing about Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. That was our Stonepunk.

The reason stonepunk hasn't gone mainstream is because no one has had the balls to expand on the genre's thesis statement
"You are an idiot if you think science and "progress" is how we'll slove our problems"
Which is very implicit in any stone punk work where an apocalyptic event (usually caused by technology) "reverts" people back to a hunter gatherer society.
proposal: punk genres for character creation, organs, and external body, then a game, something like teams vs teams, different technologies colliding. seems a good idea. like a battle royale

Zenoclash is one of my favore pieces of media ever made
Yeah Ghat and the mother super trippy beatum up friend told me about it while I was researching but all the visuals I found were 480p so I left it out but a good Stonepunk game.
There is an indication from their build and injuries, healed broken bones, that the Neanderthal were the heavy hitters of big game hunting using spears, pikes, bladed stones with fire to drive a mammoth or rhino heard into a ditch. They were built like rugby front row forwards. Think gridiron without the armour. Crash tackling mega fauna for a living. Slings and bows made hunting smaller game easier but not for mega fauna. They probably did both. As the mega fauna died out the specialty was less useful. They joined other tribes and eventually their genes got diluted away. You see a few descendants at the gym making it look easy.
I believe that the children show "Eureka!" is stonepunk.
It follows a little girl named Eureka as she designs inventions and contraptions in the hopes of making the world a better place. Along the way she try to get her prehistoric community to stop resisting change and enter a more modern era.
Not really for an older audience but it's there.

For real life stuff there is anarcho-primitivism, which I thought you were gonna talk about. Basically it's rejecting modern civilization and wanting to go back to a pre-industrial revolution way of living.
I can imagine a story set in the far future in a surveillance state full of socially enforced cybernetics & hyper-consumerism, following gang who fight against the machine and reclaim both privacy and humanity by living like our ancestors.
