Are you hungry for MORE High Rollers after our thrilling Baldur's Gate one-shot? We're beginning a BRAND NEW Campaign on ✨NOVEMBER 5th!✨
New characters, new world, new stories!
Live every Sunday at 5pm UK Time. We'd love it if you join us!
Hi, is there a possibility of adding subtitles? All dnd-based channels have them. I would really appreciate it if you could, as me being impaired hearing.
i wish they would take their voice from the game
@@kenshisaan2207 they are literally the voice actors lol
Is this a real campaign or made specifically for this?
The music being so high is distracting. also needs subtitles for non-english speakers
According to Faerunian legend, dawn arrives every morning because Karlach tells the darkness to f*ck off.
This made me laugh harder than it should, bravo
Shar: I fear no man… but that thing
Karlach: *petting Scratch*
Shar: It scares me…
I am the sun guardian, guardian of the sun!
*darkness approaches*
F**k off!
My Tav is named Dawn and is romancing Karlach, so your comment make a lot of sense for me
Laughed so hard😂

They're all magnificent but yes, the two of them seriously seem to have a second personality that comes out on command
Did you miss Gale or what? Also Shadowheart so eager to cast Guidance at every turn
@@greyngreyer5 I'm convinced Jenifer and Shadowheart have scarily similar personalities from what I've seen of her lol

Lae'Zel makes a joke about Gale messing up frequently.
Lae'Zel makes any kind of mistake.
Gale no matter what his distance or position on the globe in relation to Lae'Zel: Well, well, well ...
He can smell the sweet scent of irony
How the turntables
how the turns have tabled
Playing off Astarion's failed perception check as him becoming fascinated with Gale's boots is both totally on point for the character and really creative roleplay.
That was super gay ew
He seems to be by far both the most experienced roleplayer as well as player. He also seems to understand his character the best, though the rest are learning fast.
@@Vi0aryeah he hv experience on dnd, they said it in the vid
I would live if the epilog is Astarion buying some nice boots.
It’s also very on brand for the character honestly
I love the irony of Tav being an NPC with all the other origin characters being players
How the turns tables
It's actually a very smart narrative choice. A way to put the companions cast front and center while emphasising that Tav does exist in this iteration and therefore none of the six companions are the leader and they are all of equal importance. Balances them out while also benching the questions of "what is Tav doing".
@@ComedyLoverGirlcurrently? Being possessed apparently, lol
My BG3 character is called Tav so it’s not NPC for me 😂
@HighFlyD yes... that is the joke
I sincerely hope Larian keeps Amelia Tyler as the Narrator in every game from now on, she's incredible.
Her CZcams channel has 2 outtake videos and they are a gem to listen to if you haven't already lmao
I could listen to her for hours, she could narrate anytjing and I'd be enraptured
Yes.
she's great, but i wish they also have a male voice actor with a deep soothing voice like the Civ 5 voice actor. Sadly that voice actor passed away.
Having 2 different narrators to choose from would help (at least me) with doing and finishing multiple playthroughs.
@@XpVersusVista Brian Bowles was the narrator of divinity original sin 2 (another GREAT AND AMAZING game of Larian studio). I really like his voice :) not as soothing as Amelia's voice, but still amazing. His voice is a good option for future games
When Karlach was worried about burning the dog, did ya'll hear Lae'zel say"Yes, set the dog on fire and throw them at our enemies" 🤣
It was foreshadowing.

She would 😂😂😂
That is such a lae zel thing to say
I wasn’t even thinking about that and went through most of the game making Karlach pet Scratch because it was so dang cute. Guess Scratch is resistant.
jennifer immediately asking to cast guidance on the first check of the game was so in character, i loved that so much
Guidanceheart strikes again!
And then Theo starting combat with darkness? Exactly how I play Wyll lol
could've only been better if she missed every attack afterward
@@romxxii I havent played the game much-god I need a long vacation, but I pretty much have Guidance for every damn roll!
"HELLO AND WELCOME TO-"
"I cast guidance"
I need an easter egg now where if Gale and Asterion are both in your party and Asterion gets a nat 1 on a check, the narrator describes how he is distracted by Gales boots.
It's especially funny because I have some boots that increase your jumo distance, which Gale and Astarion have been sharing. Maybe Astarion is just jealous that it's Gale's turn with the boots.
This absolutely needs to be added in a future patch as a reaction. That would be hilarious!!
i need a "well, well, well." from Gale after Lae'zel miss the enemy.
Och yeah!
🤣
Upcoming in the newest patch! 😂
Astarion: i think tav is holding out on us.
Tav, shoving 12 th health potion into personal pack: now, why would you say that?
After watching this, I always make sure to split the potions evenly between everyone lmaooo
I'm currently playing for the first time.... I have about 20 and each of the companions have 2 :D
I literally have like 40 health potions in Tav's pack while the others each have like 2 👀
@@ceridwenaeradwr8105why micromanage it when you can sporadically throw them between inventories the instant they're needed
Well it's more like a general inventory because it is difficult sometimes to keep track with all the companions inventory
I absolutely love that Devora isn’t playing to win but playing exactly like Lae’zel would. She understands her PERFECTLY, and the same goes for the rest of the actors.
Tav: being consumed by dark energy, body cracking and snapping
Astarion, to their gear: It's free real estate
I mean, let's be real, if Larion gave him the agency to do so in a solo campaign, he'd be robbing us blind every five minutes.
Astarion to their Neck: it's free Feed-estate

Who the hell is Tav?
Samantha not wanting to pick up Scratch because she's worried Karlach would burn him is the most Karlach thing ever. This game is so surreal.
Love Mark being like, "Oh, if you wanna do something not on your character sheet, like picking Scratch up and trying to run away, you can!"
Samantha: "I'm on fire, dear."
LMAO.
Worrying about a ratch but Will is acceptable collateral. I've been there.
@@JohnDoe-vm5rbscratch is more important than any companion.
Gotta protect the best boi
And Lae'zel commenting "Yes, set fire to the dog and throw it at the enemy" is the most Lae'zel thing ever 😂
It is very rare for me to pay attention to voice actors outside of their respective games. But Larian Studios hired an INCREDIBLE cast, that sound so authentic at all times, it's incredibly enamouring. Always more!
And thats why I don't complain about the game having only english dub
There are all incredibly charming. I wish the entire human race were like them.
@@filipematheus5070 Exactly, I myself don't have english as my first language but if there was a dub in my language, I would still choose english because it wouldn't be the same experience.
@@filipematheus5070 I'm not a native English speaker but I'm generally against dubbed versions of anything that's not targeted for young children. Mainly because it helps teens/adults learn the language better and I find that often times the companies put the most amount of money into hiring voice actors for whatever the original language of the game/film/etc was. Like I wouldn't watch an originally Japanese anime dubbed in English or my native language I'd rather have it subtitled and use Japanese audio. Same with things like sitcoms, it would be very odd for me not to hear Friends in English because a lot of the jokes also fly over your head.
@MinaeVain I always go with the original if possible too, it helps you learn other languages and enjoy the performance as it was meant to be
It's so obvious that Neil is a veteran tabletop player. Dude even TAKES NOTES!

This has fully created the headcanon in my mind that Tav is the strategist of the group and the first combat without their input confused the hell outta everyone

Considering how the game plays out if you don't chose an origin character I would say it's actual canon.
I love this comment because unless you play multiplayer, Tav/Player automatically has everyone on board with a single plan of action. Tav has to be the strategist because the Player places everyone on the board themselves. It also makes sense for “why” the origin characters would be deferring to Tav in a leadership position. Great way of putting it into words!
I love that they fangirl over each other so much...but the goat is the narrator. They all looked at her like she was the most engaging and interesting creature in existence.

@@mystuff9999 lol, get out of the house, talk to people.

This is honestly a master class in Dming for new players. Asking them to describe how they imagine, direct explanations and gives them plenty of options
As a quite new player: I also feel like it helped me a lot to get to know the game better. The first time I was playing DnD and the first few videos I watched about it I was so lost XD But this was a joy to follow and now I am really motivated to try again!
Not really, leading question sure. He just described all their actions for them then said what did you do, and they repeat what he described, and did not give them much room. Some strange things also like letting them role to intimidate the darkness.. get its a stage show but its not a master class in Dming for new players.
Then when they do its like hes worried about losing the spot light and interrupts with childish comments like "holy super soakers" breaking any immersion. Don't do that to your players ever.
Describing AC to players finally only once they are being attacked by him.. does not refer to it as Armour Class but calls it anything but. Don't know why the DM is annoying me so much.
The cast are AMAZING though and did well with him as their DM.
55:12 hes just making rules, it does not cost you extra movement to pass through an ally's space. Enemies have to be 2 sizes larger and then its difficult terrain or use a Tumble.
DM is terrible for new players learning the game.
Straight after hes making skill checks to add bonus to attack rolls for jumping off people... This is not D&D5e but some random messy homebrew. To be fair to other players he needs to keep that rule in place, id be dash kipping off stuff every turn after that thinking its a table top move like the Larion weapons.
The player described something well and as a DM if you want to reward it and keep pace don't give them a skill check to fail, just say awesome description, you get Advantage from the elevated position.
Around 1:27:00 lets Laz cleave without Great Weapon Master feat also... Dont give players feats they do not have. it undermines those who took them as choices and you have to keep it up for everyone else. Not even gonna talk about it hitting Wyll or how that would make a player feel being sat doing nothing for so long to be removed by DM nonsense.
End of 1st session. Sure they are time constrained again its a show, not a real game. But the appearance of the DM npc to end the encounter with a sentence, meaning nothing had any impact of player urgency is disrespectful to the players and then to have wyll waste time making a death save when everyone is now safe was pointless.
Again get he's understress but hes so back and forth. Like after the narrator leaves at the start of Act 2, he shuts the party down, no more checks, you know everything, thats all your getting.. then at 2:11:50 ish he full backtracks and starts offering out information checks as the party have no direction.
Total nonsense.
@@cypher7523mucho texto
@cypher7523 He's actually a really good DM, and does loads of proper campaigns.
This one in particular was just a fun mess around, 1 shot session, organised by Larion. Mark is under immense time restraints, and the party don't know what they're doing, excluding Neil. This isn't an introduction into DnD, or a tutorial. He's guiding them to where he needs them within his time limit, for the content.
Mark did incredibly well with what he's got.
Baldur's Gate was my first 'real' taste of DnD after a miserable attempt at a zoom campaign in 2020 with friends who had also never played. This video alone has taught me SO much more than I ever imagined it could haha.
Amazing the different levels of "putting on" the voice. Neil sounds completely different from Astarion but can slip into it easily. Tim just sounds like Gale normally.
Literally !
I absolutely love that 😂
Tim sounds just like Gale without the swagger of a magical prodigy lol
I actually think he really sounds like Astarion as it is just less posh 😄
jennifer also sounds exactly like shadowheart to me
I love hearing Devora drop into that low rasp for Lae'zel. Her natural voice is so different!
Astarion winking at gale while attacking with a 19 dice roll was epic
I was laughing so hard at that because it's so in character for Astarion to be that extra even while in battle lmao
Even funnier when you look at his sneak attack animation in the game when using bows or crossbows. He does a little jump into the attack. It's really nice lmao
It was as if he just went "Sure, D&D and all that, but I've decided this is a John Woo movie now, and I'm Inspector Tequila 😉"

It was really giving: "I am enjoying our walks together. Aren't you, Gale?" - "Hmm.. Sure! In Silence."
I might be completely wrong on this but if my extroverted senses are right, Tim is absolutely terrified (but holding it together), especially in the beginning, and I think Neil was trying to help Tim to feel more at ease by engaging him. It's adorable 🥹🥹🥹
Their characters have such nice chemistry over time in the game it's so cute that their actors do too, very extrovert/introvert friend dynamic
@@msbroomstick1That would explain why Gale didn't show anyone a magic trick.
@@msbroomstick1 Neil reminds me so much of an old high school friend. She was so bubbly and inclusive, but had a grace and poise about her, that you could see if you really looked.
I think it is because they are legit friends, according to Neil, and "not the fake TV friend". They seem to be the most comfortable doing their banters together.
I like how the first part just goes the same way as it went for me in the first act: Wyll takes on too many enemies and dies, Lae just misses every shot, Gale casts spells that do zero damage, Karlach and Astarion deal with enemies in style
Ok Neil seeing his miniature for the first time “Hello Beautiful”. Made me laugh. 23:50
1:33:00
DM: "You see a figure dressed in a red robe, a red wizardy hat, and a big white beard-"
Astarion: *"SANTA CLAUS!!!"*
Karlach: "Hey everyone! Its Gales' grandad!"
Omfg so funny literally as i was reading your comment The DM was saying it and no I didn’t click on the link just funny timing
Jennifer English verbally glassing Elminster was the bit that made me howl in laughter. "Have you heard of me?"
"No."
@@JohnDoe-vm5rb"No, I have no memories" was so golden lol
I love that Neil's immediate reaction to getting the Astarion miniature is to say "Hello, beautiful" in the Astarion voice. XD
Can't use a mirror so I think astarion would ABSOLUTELY want a figure of himself.
@@rayplays7498 yeah. Actually the whole “can’t see myself in the mirror” problem could’ve been fixed easily by commissioning a painting.
@@ManubibiWalsh In the circus area of Baldurs Gate you can commission a statue of him. I’m not sure if there’s any unique dialogue for doing it though
Amelia Tyler needs an Audio Book, her voice is very calming.
There may be some already, you never know
Jennifer: *internally screaming at not being able to speak infernal to understand the little imp*
Samantha, sitting right next to her, with a character who can speak Infernal as a racial trait: *whistles innocently*
Theo saying "The blade of frontiers" gives me goosebumps everytime. Talk about iconic.
I smile every time lol
And him immediately going down in a fight is totally on point too, at least for me xD. I do tend to try... ambitious flanks with him that don't always go well
@@dylanschulz9118 exactly! I had no idea how to play a warlock during my first run
Provoke the blade... and suffer its sting. I swear he has some of the best lines in the whole campaing. I never skip that scene lol
@@alessandroluthi5770 I literally got goosebumps reading it.
Theo's facial expressions when he realised Karlach couldn't see in magical darkness and that the glass knight could were amazing.
we’ve all been there
My wife and I were watching this video, and at that point we were thinking, "I don't think think this Darkness is going to help *your* side, my dude".
I’m in love with Karlach’s actress wearing a glowing heart ❤️🔥necklace!!!!!!!
the PURE heart eyes when Amelia comes out is so well deserved
Completely understand that these people are some very busy and very talented actors who have full schedules but this was such a delight to watch. Would love to see this group play again!
Well, there is Sunday...
Well...not to burst your bubble, but if this is sponsored by Larian, I'm pretty sure they were paid to be there 😅
@@SabeximusLarian got that big money vibe now
@@britters220won't be long before they're selling us loot boxes and battle passes now XD
@@Sabeximus Yes this was sponsored. Good marketing for Larian and DnD franchise as well.
I really wish Larian would see how much people love it and would sponsor a full campaign like this
It would definitely be amazing, but I'm pretty sure the hold-up is the actors not wanting to commit to something so time consuming, not Larian. Afterall, its free exposure for Larian
@@lespaul5734 Yeah, big kuddos to them for agreeing to do to this! :-D The most enjoyable D&D stream I saw in a while!
@@lespaul5734 The cast of Critical Role just did a collective WTF face.
@@GhoulishGlee I completely agree!
@JnEricsonx I love Critical Role, but they are a different case haha. I would love for the BG3 cast to commit to a campaign, but it's their first time playing and presumably they want to continue their careers and not play DnD for a living
Before watching the video: Oh this looks fun. Especially since I've started the game now
about 12 minutes in: I have fallen in love with Neil Newbon
Well, the man just won a award so!
I think everyone walked away from this at least a little in love with Neil
@@itsybitsybosmer Oh, he really turned on Astarion from the get go. But he has experience playing, so the RP switch got flicked from the start. I think Devora was the other one who got into their char the quickest.
He'll do that to you 😂
Absolutely lost it when Astarion fumbled the trickshot with the lamp, and adored Laezel just being Laezel. Now I wish the narrator would read loads of my favourite books as audiobooks - she's got such a good voice!
Jennifer acting out 'Cure Wounds' as Shadowheart saying "Shar shar shar" while waving her hands over Wyll was fucking hilarious and I NEED this animated.
Probably the thing I love most about Mark's DM-ing style, especially with newer players, is when they try to do something that isn't intentional in the rules and instead of just "sorry, that's not how it works"-ing them, he just goes, "That's not usually how that's used, but I love it, so let's do it!" It's the ultimate form of yes-and-ing and helps new players feel confident in their decision-making. I am taking notes!
Permissive DMs are always the best DMs. Rule of Cool and Rule of Funny are a good enough reason to let the players try basically anything they want.
That was an amazing reaction to her usage of the spell - and to just give it a 50% chance of "Sure, that is how it works" was great. Bonus points to him for explaining to them his logic since they may not have understood what he was doing.
its also the rule of cool, Some Dms do allow it because it adds to the fun.
The term for that is "rule of cool"
I felt this exact way but couldn't figure out how to word it. It was so wholesome watching him bring everyone into the experience
Underrated quote: "The forest of Tu'toriel"
An instant classic haha
I love how Wyll's smile immediately disappeared when he realized he needs to make 2 dex save
It seams nobody picked up Samantha's (Karlac player/VA) "I would like to rage against the dying of the light" being both a really cool ass way to say you're raging, and a perfect quotation of poetry, that exactly captured the moment. Line of the session.
Dylan Thomas would approve. And then be like HOLY SHIT WHAT IS SHE?
If I judge by the comments, around three people noticed 😄
do you have a timestamp?
After the recitation in Interstellar anyone should know that poem.
Neil Newbon snickering at the narrator announcing "Gale of Waterdeep" reminds you that he truly embodies the sassiness and cheekiness of Astarion
I wouldnt be suprised if they didn't just model astarion after Neil, instead of the other way around
Model neil after astarion
@@exposedshadow9641 Pretty much they've said on panels they weren't given a lot of directions they just had fun so a lot of the time it is part of them
2:43:54 Neil looks so giddy and happy that all of his friends are now playing D&D
Everyone's reaction to Amelia narrating mirrored my feels-- the entire game.
This was the best xmas gift ever.
Thank you, High Rollers
Astarion is so correct that Tav is carrying all the money !
I reached a point where I had so much money on my 8 str character that I had to go "karlach pleeeeease carry my purse it's soooo heavy"
@@misterthegeoff9767literally me when I have too much money give it to someone else xd

Tav is always carrying enough money that karlach can rage throw his/her coin pouch and destroy god.
@@misterthegeoff9767that’s what I did honestly XD

Tav: *bones snapping and body twisting in painful ways*
Astarion: oohh look at those fancy boots
Tav: bruh
It's in character, coming from him 🤣🤣🤣
Turning him over to the gur monster hunters time now
Game accurate
I’m just imagining that tav just broke out of the possession just say that and then get possessed again
After looking to pinch their stuff 😅
Also, upon Lae'zel's double miss, I can just hear Matt Mercer's furious scream as Leiland from Escape from the Blood Keep: "I will NOT be defied by this...TINY, HALFLING GARDENER!" :D
1:43:28 I’m imagining Astarion just pulling random crap out of Tav’s bottomless pit of a bag like Doraemon 😂
Astarion's first thought when Tav is dying is steal from them. Classic Astarion.
That's what Tav gets for not romancing Astarion. Unromanced Astarion is the stray cat that finds you convenient as long as you feed and shelter it but doesn't fully trust you. Romanced Astarion is the tamed cat that headbumps your leg and hops onto your lap for cuddles when you're feeling down.
@@TF2CrunchyFroghe also brings you rabbit bodies sans the head.
The idea of Lae'zel saying "with magic, Astarion. he's a magical man" has me cackling for some reason
I love how Astarions voice actor takes so naturally to both his character, his class as a thief, and his grasp of the mechanics of the game. The wink to Gale as he goes somersaulting past. His idea with the lamp where unfortunately the dice failed him. This kind of swashbuckling bravado is what being a DnD rouge is all about.
He plays D&D and has DM'd.
I really do love watching people play D&D for the first time. It’s very intimidating at first but the more you play and flex your imagination the easier it becomes. Having a competent DM is key and you don’t get much better than this guy.
The group: We must find the source of this magic!!
Astarion: Oh my! Gale! Darling! Your boots! They’re so … fabulous!
The stiching is fabulous
@@AlexGrom exquisite!
Wyll: *pulls darkness down from the sky, blinding Karlach and hopefully monsters*
Monster: *Still sees him*
Wyll: *runs away, leaving Karlach in the darkness*

And unfortunately disadvantaging Gale's future brilliant idea to freeze the glass knight.
Gale also disapproves.
Wyll feels ashamed immediately after hearing Gale's plan, whispering quietly to himself: 😱😰What have I done?!
@@yufi305to be fair, he pulled off a crazy shot and hit him in the darkness, just whiffed all the damage
@@Hawk7886 True, but I'm commenting more on the parallel potential of it going badly and Wyll was worried for a minute that he screwed up things.
Fortunately Gale is sort of a badass minus the whiffed damage.
1:21:25 Shadowheart's VA suggesting romancing Tav for the story, and Neil mentioning Tav probably owes them money is an awesome lil scene 🤣 Def true for my first BG3 playthrough but seeing this around a table warms my heart
the way i can actually SEE all the BG3 character's character in their faces and mannerisms, the devs and these actors really did bless us with a fantastic experience!
Astarion is right to question Tav's hoarding problem
I couldn;t stop laughing listening to this as I looked at my encumbered character's inventory

I laughed way too hard at Neil's "Forest of Tu-To-Rial" 😄
Neil. omg. He is Astarion. But also knows wtf he's going. That's really cool to see.
He apparently played and plays Dungeons and Dragons as is, so yeah, he's ahead of the curve.
He's a big lovable geek
He really is. He even has most of his twitch emotes being really cute mini Astarions lol
Gale making a clutch ray of frost with double damage only to min out is my BG3 experience.
Man the way he was so incredibly hyped for it all to end in crushing disappointment, I felt that lol
the impressed "Youre gonna need a bigger boss" before almost spitting out the drink
So a normal roll in D&D
My first two rolls of BG3 were a nat 20 inspecting the console on the nautiloid to make sure it wouldn't kill Shadowheart immediately followed by a nat 1 trying to actually use it. I needed a 2 or higher to free her. 💀
@@jampoptart1180 I love when you fail that check.
"You feel the console process your command... and it says "nah, fam.""
Astarion not caring about the battle, and then casually pulling a badass move out of spite is so in character
Just played the new BG3 epilogue and Shadowheart says "that stray imp that joined us - Bing Bong wasn't it?"
I love that larian includes stuff like that
It’s in there? That’s cool! I haven’t finished a play through since the new epilogues.
I love watching new players. Experienced players tend to have an idea of what works and what doesn't, so thought patterns tend to standardise over time. New players don't have these patterns imprinted on them, allowing them to think up all sorts of wacky shit. "You didn't do anything wrong, just unexpected." (from Mark) accurately sums up why watching greens at work is such a delight.
I like how it's canon that Neil just owns no shirts with sleeves
Having such cool tattoos and not showing them off sounds like a waste
Every D&D group has at least one "Sleeves are bullshit" player
Neil 🤝 Marisha
Not wearing sleeves
Sleeves are bullshit
I was just looking yesterday, going through his videos and thinking: does he even OWN a shirt with sleeves???
Neil Newbon absolutely KILLED this one-shot. Completely sank his teeth into it and drained it for all its worth!
