Thanks for your review of this adapter. 👌
The Fotodiox is the same, different lable, lower price.
There are several of this adapter, all made in China, but with different brand names.
I'm a Nikon D810 user and was really close to jump ship to Sony.
What made me stay was the lack of lenses and the feeling I was gonna be a beta tester using adapters.
I ended up buying a Fujifilm x-t2 when I needed the portability. And haven't looked back since.
Thank you for a great channel. Cheers
For a smaller stills kit I also would choose Fuji -- I love the experience of shooting Fuji and they are delivering the lenses. I went with Sony for the video features, which are substantial.
nice video Sean ; i have the 6D and won't upgrade to another Canon, but may buy M43 and retain Canon as well. Compared to APSC Fuji XPro2 or XT2 how do you like the new announced Olympus OM-D E-M10 III which has 5-stops IBIS + 4K + plethora of features, all at a meagre 650$ body only, without compromising much since it has only a slightly smaller sensor ? Fuji has OIS lenses, but Olympus has dual advantage of in-body + in-lens Stabilization, and vast array of lenses, far more than Fuji. It could be a great portable option along with Pana-Leica 15mm f/1.7 & 45mm f/1.8 M.Zuiko, for ease of use, comfort, convenience, carry-around/daily/life-style shots etc. The native 4:3 ratio allows for better portraiture composing, as, we don't have to crop out the negative wasted space from left/right side in horizontal shots, or from top/bottom in vertical shots.
Hi Chirag, I think the new Olympus looks quite good. You can compensate for the smaller sensor with fast lenses, and I really like the IBIS and innovative shooting modes. I have been tempted to try M43, but I already have committed to both APS-C and FF, so I've done my part to keep the camera industry healthy. :) Let me know if you get the Olympus! Cheers, Sean
thanks, sure will inform you. have a nice day ahead !
Thank you for all of the information. if possible please do an auto focus review on video using the same setup ...
Thumbs up. Sounds like the audio when you're outdoor is louder and deeper than when you're in the studio. You might want to normalize the audio level. :)
Commlite should opensource their firmware so enthusiasts like me can tweak and improve it.
Thanks, and I agree -- it would be fantastic if Commlite would opensource the firmware! Maybe I'll shoot them an email (and/or make a video) about it. They would sell a lot more adapters if they did so. This thing has a lot of potential, but sadly it's unfulfilled right now.
Beautiful picture
Thanks very much for buying from us!
We would like to address your comment on some lenses work well and some lenses are not.
During the time we sell and test on it, we have learnt a lot from lens manufacturer about lenses. There is only one rule, higher the cost better the quality. They mark up higer because better motors, better chips, more ram, more sensor has been used in the lens. Given that the focus ability is constant on a supported cameras, lenses with better contents will give you better focus result.
Forget Auto Focus - does it let me control the aperture since AF-S have no aperture ring
i wanna know....
The comment about having an A9 and it not making sense to add an adapter. I recently purchased A9 but still own Nikon 135 F2, 200 F2, 300 F2.8 and 400 F2.8??? I ordered this and will try it out. I guess i will try some big tires out on my Porsche.
R Stew any update on your finds? Looking to buy the a7riii and have some Nikon glass
G and E lenses seem to work well. Older D lenses will not work as they have no motor. Eye AF even works on several lenses. Definitely worth a try.
Paul Wilson Here are my findings:
I have the ver 06 and the eye af works on several of my Nikon lenses but not all, and a couple of 3rd party lenses. (With the a7r3)
Usable continuous eye af on:
Nikon 20mm 1.8g
Nikon 50mm 1.8g
Tamron 85mm 1.8 vc
Sigma 135 ART
Not usable on:
Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 g2 (hunts constantly)
Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRii (works, but too inconsistent and hunts)
How is the performance with 400mm 2.8?
Hey Vince, the 400mm works but not as fast as on Nikon D5. It does do 10fps but i found i missed focus a lot more than using the D5. Hopefully they will release a newer firmware to allow more focus points in the future.
I am sooo confused. Please help. I just purchased the ENF-E1for my Sony A7iii and all my nikon lenses AND Tamron lenses do not autofocus. It's as if my camera is totally dead. It does not communicate at all. I checked the firmware on my Sony and it's version 3.01. Please break this down for me as I am ready to pull my hair out. Thanks!
Does it works with sony A6400 and nikon lens 50mm 1.4G VR ? please.
Does it work?
Great informative video. So I just got the adapter but it always shows f/- in the lower bar so i cant change the aperture and the af wont work? Do i have to set anything up in the settings? I even reset my camera to default. But it wont work. Any clues? 🙈
I am asking is there tracking AF with any kind of adapters :) ???
Great info , thank you... Thumbs up...
there is a a new firmware for the pro version, the version is 06, can you review it? regards
Isn't VR in the Nikkor lenses redundant with the in-body stabilization on the Sony body? In fact, that may be why the VR acted kinda janky as you mentioned.
Perhaps. I have gotten away from adapting lenses on Sony since there are so many great options now. These adapters were always a little wonky.
Did you have a problem with the adapter bricking your camera?!
With the exception of Sony LA-EA4 adapter which has real optical phase detection electronics, all other autofocus adapters offers mediocre autofocus speed and accuracy.
The best autofocus adapter after the LA-EA4 is the Sigma MC-11 for EF lenses. I own it and it offers decent autofocus, speed and accuracy.
THE AF ON THE MC-11 IS AMAZING!
Amazing but NO tracking ability in video and stills :) May be with some Sigma lenses. For Canon and Tamron forget about it!
Need to work for a7iii
I have a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 D lens, does it work with this adapter to my Sony A7s and A6000?
Nope it doesn't work, Ive learned the hard way, adapter just arrived today and all it does is recognized my lenses but will never ever ever lock focus. Also a seller in amazon confirmed it doesnt work with a6000.
What about metabones?
Informatif... Im support you from indonesian
From 74 to 94 all I used was manual lenses.
Hi bro ! Can you review it for the sigma 85mm art lens ? Thank you
I'll see if I can get my hands on one!
Have you tried art lenses nikon mount on this adaptor?
shadowknight moon I use this with my a7r3 and I'm happy with the continuous eye af with my Sigma 135 ART... I have ver 06 firmware.
Question - does this adaptor work only on Camera's, I'd like to use it with my Nikon 200-500 mounted on a Sony NEX-EA50 video camera?
Sorry, I have no experience with that setup, but I doubt it would work (I doubt the older NEX camera has phase detect autofocus?)...
When shooting video I only ever use manual focus, I was hoping though that this adaptor would allow for aperture/Iris control on the G series Nikon 200-500 which has no aperture pin or aperture ring and as such the aperture is controlled electronically via the Nikon Camera Body?
Does it work with sony a6000? Tnx.
Nope it doesn't work, Ive learned the hard way, adapter just arrived today and all it does is recognized my lenses but will never ever ever lock focus. Also a seller in amazon confirmed it doesnt work with a6000.
does the autofocus work in video?
NO ! it doesn't work in vidéo with any lens
does the auto focus work in video mode?
no !!! it doesn't work with any lens don't buy it
It’s work on Sony A7R ????
don't buy it !!!
DOES IT WORK WITH THE A6000???????????????????????????
Nope it doesn't work, Ive learned the hard way, adapter just arrived today and all it does is recognized my lenses but will never ever ever lock focus. Also a seller in amazon confirmed it doesnt work with a6000.
These are all crap adapters than can damage a6xxx series of cameras, but there's nothing better.
You are so right. Just damaged a brand new camera.
Don't buy Fotodiox pro doesn't work the great it hunt a lot are lock on
