Steph's expression at 0:05 is priceless as Mr clumsy wacks the device into his precious table top.
I bought a Commlite about 6 months ago and have been very impressed with the performance on my A6500. I do not use any Nikon lenses over 200mm since I find it does have problems focusing.
Thanks for the updated edition of the F to E mount. I watched your 2015 review of the first Commlite review and now Version 6 seems to be night and day in comparison. Thanks for the professional style of the review and not no head bashing format is not too little or too hard but just the facts. Great show.
What I am really interested to know is how well does it video follow focus, how well and smooth is it, would love to see you make a video of that.
Another great content review Matt, on these adapters are they usable on 3rd party lenses like Tamron, Sigma and Tokina Nikon mount
This is encouraging, providing another check mark for Nikon shooters contemplating moving to a Sony platform
Do they work on AF-C mode where Phase Detection is used as opposed to the Contrast Detect in AF-S mode?
would like to see an update with a7iii and some tamron and sigma glass to.I know sigma and tamron are going to start making lens in the e mount and a good adapter would be more coast effective than having the mounts switched or re buying lens's.
I bought the manual adapter a few years back for my Nikon lenses on my A6000 because the auto-focus units were far more expensive the performance wasn't very good. Good to see they now have useable performance for auto-focus and metering functions. I may have to get one. :-)
Great Timing Matt! I was looking for an update from you on this Nikon f to Sony Bodies. I need an opinion from a person who tested these 3 side by side.
Thanks Matt for the awesome review. Is it usable for video works? Also can you test it out on the latest a6400?
Thanks so much 🙏 Wonderful . Exactly what I was looking into . Just bought a A7 Sony . Own a few Nikon Lenses .
Older Women Rock which mount did you go to?
How was the autofocus work you think ?
The hunting and slow focus performance reminds me of the early Metabones adaptors using Canon lenses on Sony bodies.
Thanks for the comparison, I’ve been waiting a long time for something like this. It would be good to know however how they perform on older E-mount cameras like the A7S?
Dziękuję Ci za test. Właśnie tego potrzebowałem.
It's good to see the adapters are coming along even if they are all the same. 🙂 Thanks, Matt.
Great Video! I am having an AF-D 80-200 lens and I really want my A7II to know the focal length I am using so that the IBIS can be turned on. Do you know if data of the focal length are transferred to the camera such that IBIS can recognize the focal length I am using?
thank you!! I would like to know ..do you have any loss of quality on the photos due to the adaptor?
Thank you for this video ! What about the Metabones SpeedBooster adapter for Nikon ?
Have you tried this with the Sigma art lenses Nikon Mounts?
Thanks for the video! What about VR though? Does that work on an adapter on a Sony?
Can I use Tamron Nikon lenses with these adapters?
thank you for this educational video! needed this
cool video, i can also change de aperture settings, from the camera to ???
Hi Thanks for the video, So which is the first, second and worst adapter in quality? Thanks in advance.
Hi Matt, do these adapters work on the VR and the aperture controll ??? Thanks a lot
Thanks. I give up with confidence after viewing your review.
Hey you two.... Thanks for the upload! Great Job!!
This video was super helpful to me...I am a Nikon DSLR guy and am about to go Sony Mirrorless and was cringing about losing some of my lenses.
I love watching your videos. They have helped me a lot.I have Nikon camera and i purchased Nikon macro lenses .But for video the auto focusing on Nikon is very slow and i have seen good reviews about Sony cameras i was wondering if i buy a Sony camera will my Nikon lenses auto focus would work for videos.Thank you in advance.
can i use the Nikon 200-500mm for sony ? i will be using for video is that good ????
Will the adapter work on my a5100 for a nikon 70-300mm lens?
is it work with sony a6400 on tamron(nikon) 70-200mm 2.8 G2 lens
Great vidéo
Great video Matt. Did you try them with the autofocus point off center as well? I found that the Vello that I own does not work well with zooms off center, even with the A7rIii. It is also terrible in low light. Does work fine with Sigma and Tamron primes.
Thanks for the video Matt! Btw I just bought the photodiox today. Then I notice there seems to be a problem with the nikkor 105 f2.8 😬. Even the company website says not to adapt that lens.
nice info i will buy the commlite adapter for my nikon lenses for sonyA7iii camera
Thabks for the timely update Matt! Did you use VR on any of the tests? Any comments on that. Thanks very much!
Hey Matt, thanks for doing this updated review. Not sure if it's an isolated case for me, but a quick search in forums seems otherwise - The Commlite EN-EF-Pro V6 is giving me connection issues, locking up the camera (and lens) and overall performing pretty shakily in the field. I use the Nikon 58 1.4G on it and the unit seems to be locking out, and I need to detach/re-attach the adapter for it to make contact again. Any recommendations on how to get Commlite to return emails etc?
THank you for your suggestions!
I would have liked to see how the autofocus speed compared to a Sony lens, and also maybe the Nikons on a Nikon body.
Hey, I have a question! How do this adapters stack up when put to the task with pc-e lenses? I have the photodiox pro MKI and it justs crashes my camera. also, when used with my 16 2.8 fish eye, autofocus wont work
I'm mostly interested about the PC-E lenses. I love my 24 3.5 and I miss using it
Hey, Matt, did you do multiple trials, or only what we saw on the video? I still would expect them to behave more or less identically--note that on the Vello, at least, the latest firmware is V6, just like on the Commlite. So, we need to rule out the possibility that the differences you saw were just random variation. Thanks.
What about focal length? Can I use both DX and FX?
Nice to see the tests, like your assistant
Which adaptor would you recommend for Nikon 200mm f2 on a Sony a9 for sports like American football or Soccer.
I'm interested in the Photodiox version. I currently own a "dumb" Metabones adapter. Does the tripod mount shoe come off of the Photodiox adapter? It would be in the way of my Peak Design mount that sits on the camera body.
Hello, Do you know if any of those adapters is also compatible with the A7s ii?. Thanks
I got a macro lens that is FX mount for my Sony A6000 E mount, which adapter do I need?
thanx 4 the content Mates, hi in this 5 years did something changed? I love my nikon 10.5 as well as my sony a6600, bach in time i've boght an adaptor manual, is something changed now? did 5 years happen to be usefull in creating an efficient autofocus adapter from nikon lens to sony e-mount? Thanx again, Max
Really useful thanks. But I would have loved to see the test for portraits using the Nikon 105mm 1.4G in AF-C and some post test pixel peeping for eye sharpness. Otherwise my only option may be to purchase the new E-Mount Sigma 105mm 1.4 when it's released.
Matt, any update info for 2020 on new devices like these adapters?
Yes please!
@@AR-ko2wp me too
Me three!! AR 7 IV
Me four . Sony A7RIV
me 5
Hey Matt, have any of these companies managed to get the 200 F/2 working well on these bodies?
Any idea if these are just for Sony systems or are they ones for Micro 4/3 too? I would very much like to try using my Nikon lenses on my Panasonic G7.
can this adapter handle the tamron or minolta 300mm f2.8 manual focus???
Hey Matt! Maybe you tried this off screen but I found typically the adapters work much better and continuous autofocus. It's almost like they switch from contrast to phase. Even though they may not support high speed shooting. Did you find that as well?
i had a basketball game shooting via sonya a7iii + viltrox nf-e1 adapter + nikon 70 200 f 2.8 lens. results was super good. but i had to shoot all photos on single shot mode. cause i cannot find how to track focusing. it's tracking focus but when i press shutter release button it stops tracikng and locking focus. while basketball player running on hi+ mode first and second photo is on focus, others are out of focus...is there anyone hwo knows about this issue? thank you so much..
Can it take AF-D lenses?
Is this single focus mode or did continous work as well? Do they work with Eye detect?
Ok, as this is Sony E mount, will these adaptors work with the Sony NEX EA50 video camera?
You should have a look at the Viltrox NF-E1 for Nikon glass as it's £129 compared to £320. I have it and it performs decent on the Nikkor 24-70 but in certain situations it really does hunt for the subject
would you say that an F mount tamron or other 3rd party lens work as well?
will the new afp nikon lenses work with these adapters on my sony a6000?
I have the 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and 85 1.4 all g nikon lenes. What's the best and quickest focus one for sony a7riii
what about focusing on video shooting?
Hi! Any chance for an update video? Thank you!
- Thanks Matt, any idea where I can get the Vello adapter here in the uk? Do B&H ship to the uk?
Very good analysis.
Any chance u tried Tamron n Sigma Nikon mount lenses with adapters?
i wish i had your sense of optimism.
can i use the nikon 105mm 1.4 with a adapter on my a7iii?
Dear Matt, is there any adapter fot Nikon F mount lenses to Sony A7R5 E mount body?
Can we use it for wildlife photography?!
Just the video I was look for.. question is it safe for the lenses?
a really helpfull comparison would be one with the nikon adapter and nikon & third party (sigma and tamron) glas against the metabones and sigma mc 11 adapter and canon & third party (sigma and tamron) glas.
Hi, so what was a conclusion? It is not as fast shooting with sony and nikon lenses with adapter as it would be with original nikon camera but still you can use it on sony?
Hi matt d you know if either the bells or the complete make nikon 1 to Sony adapters aswell I've got a nikon 1 j1 and tlooking too invest in some Sony 35mm,50mm, andv85mmglass
“I have a tamaron xr diii af 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 (if) macro a14 for nikon. What lens converter should I use for my sony a6500 camera? ”
Hi.. wanted to know if Viltrox NF-E1 Nikon F to Sony E Mount Adapter works on sony a7iii body and nikon 200-500 mm lens
Hi Matt quick question, I have m43 Panasonic and I bought focal reducer, but you can not autofocus. I have to do manual focus only with Nikon lenses. Do you know why other brands does not come with autofocus focal reducer for micro 4/3 Panasonic. Thanks
Cual es mejor de los tres ?
Would be great to know how the nikon 200-500 works on these adapters
Are we able to cross flash the FW into the different HW?
Does Commilte [nikon to sony ] works on sony a6100?
Will these work with F mount third party lenses from Tamron or Sigma?
Hi, have you tried it with third party lenses as well? I own the Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2, and would like to know your thoughts. Thanks!
Hi there great review really tempted to get an A7iii now with my nikon lenses, did you by any chance try out the continuous eye focus with the adapter on the f9 thanks craig
New Road Photography did you settle on a mount? I’ve just purchased a A7iii and my original gear is all Nikon!
How about using Nikon APSC lens on Sony A7R III ? Will there be any reduction in resolution? Appreciate of your responses. Thanks in advance
im realy interested now im a a7riv user but only having the 200-600 here in the uk winter dark /dull days i was thinking 300f2.8 which sony dont have nikon f mount would be a lot cheaper a lot of them second hand
to your experience , what would be the best adapter to fit a Nikon 300mm f2.8, AF-S, VR, in order to keep a correct AF-S and even AF-C? thanks for your help ;)
By any chanced have you gotten hold of the Monster LA-FE2 adapter? Supposed to support nikon screw drive lenses!!! I never upgraded to the Z system as my favourite portrait lenses were the 105mm & 135mm DC screw drive lenses
thank you for the info
Will any of these adapters work with a Nikon DX 35mm
Ive got some DX lenses inclueding a 150-500mm Sigma and 11-16mm Tokina id love to be able to use those, thinking of getting an A7iii - any luck?
Great comparison!
I have a Sigma 85mm art nikon compatible lens, I will buy the Sony A7R II. which adviser do you recommend. ? Commlite ? Fotodiox ? Vello ?
Could you PLEASE try the 105mm 1.4 And tell us the results in a Comment ??? Plzzzzzz Matt 🙏🏻
How does it work with video?
Hi Matt, could you do a video of the Top 5 lenses of all time with 3D Pop = high micro contrast = dimensionality regarles of mount)?
The Monster Nikon F tro sony E autofocus adapter with the new version 6 firmware is working pretty good for me.
