    Being called plastic is so minuscule to all of the things those "popular" girls accused of saying and doing. They shouldn't be throwing a fit about the plastic comment, they probably take it as a compliment deep down inside anyways.

      Agreed, unless if can dish it then you better take it. Look they aren't called plastic bc of their outer appearance more of their inner. Last time I check Cruella De Vil wasn't the fan favorite and she wasn't hated bc of her love for fashion.
      They are talking about how they wouldn't be friends with someone overweight. How to refer the theatre kids as nerds and wondering why they didn't want to be popular. Then when confronted, they were like well oh well deal with it because in the real world people, so that makes it okay to treat ppl like that. Unless they are the ones that are going suffer bc they live in a world were popularity matter and everyone loves them in they leave high school, they will know.
      Honestly, it doesn't surprise when they said to Tyra that they never bully any of these girls. I remember getting bullied and I ask my teacher to move my seat and she did. The bullies beg me to sit with them again and telling me what they were doing wasn't bullying it was called fun.

    This is why I love being in college. Everyone is meeting you for the first time, and there's none of this stuff going on. No one really cares what kind of clothes you wear, and you can sit anywhere in the caf and instantly be friends with those people. Also, mostly everyone is broke from paying tuition and room and board, so everyone's really in the same boat.

      Thankfully, not to a severe point of being humiliated by the entire class! I’ve had a few incidents of being hurt and betrayed by a few “friends” but nothing that made he dread high school or lead to depression.
      I wasn’t popular, or the center of attention. I was basically “just there” but I had a small group of good friends that I’d eat lunch with everyday. I also had a fair share of friendly classmates that befriended me and become my talking buddy in the classroom. So high school wasn’t perfect but it was manageable and I had my memorable good moments.

    I find it awful how the popular girl who actually decides to apologize can't even get through the apology without saying "but we need an apology from you too for calling us plastic" like JUST BE THE BIGGER PERSON AND APOLOGIZE omg

  • @slappinbass8052
    @slappinbass8052 Před 7 lety +156

    Those "popular" girls that participated in the experiment didn't learn anything for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they knew that the fictional school was just that. It was all an act. They should have gone to a real school to experience real reactions. The second thing is that they knew that they would just go back to being pretty as soon as the experiment was over. Real acne can't be washed off in one go. Bigger people can't peel off a fat suit and instantly be skinny. It's totally different to play dress up than it is to live with something like that.
    What these mean girls need is a bite of some humble pie, and if they haven't already gotten it they're going to get it because karma has its way of catching up to people.

    • @deedeemodesty8667
      @deedeemodesty8667 Před 7 lety +8

      Kristen Jakins I agree especially when they get older and into the real world. My grandma always taught me to be good to everybody. Karma will catch up with you and people really don't forget about the time when you bullied them. When you get into the real world you learn very fast that the world is small especially when you see the one you bullied in school as your supervisor, manager, co-worker, or later on as the ceo of the company that you work for. That's a lot to think about but these girls were young and didn't think about how their actions might effect them later on in life.

    • @90sbaby1
      @90sbaby1 Před rokem

      Plus these girls weren't even pretty to begin with, just wearing makeup. They're most likely....still "popular" because they continued on a trajectory of being so. They went to college. most likely, and were nasty to people trying to join their sorority. also most likely. Or they didn't go to college and were nasty in the workplace. But I think they each experience ongoing moments of intense insecurities even today. These girls and I are the same age/generation and ours was THE WORST because we introduced the social media age and at first, we were totally irresponsible on there. At least these days on social media, people are more accepted and called out/canceled. Back in the 2000s and early 2010s cyberbullying was more petty and people started to treat each other that way in real life. If you didn't have selfies to put on Myspace back then, you were a nobody.

    • @90sbaby1
      @90sbaby1 Před rokem

      but regarding your point about them not learning their lesson because it's a fake environment, based on other social experiments this show has had, people are kind of like "Punk'd" so I think those other kids in the fake classroom thought THEY were the experiment, until the popular girls showed up in costume. Their egos are so big and their insecurities are so DESPERATE that even during a fake act, they still felt bad not being the center of admiration. (Plus it's kind of illegal to subject minors to unhealthy environments even for reality TV. So they'd never subject the girls to actual humiliation in a real school.)

      @amylee8969 Před rokem

      @
      Slappin’ bASS
      I know. And the issue isn’t even that they’re popular and well-dressed. It’s they have a bad attitude! Most of them do. They don’t realize how damaging it is for “unpopular” kids when they’re looked down upon and judged for unfair reasons when they’re done nothing wrong.
      These kinds of kids will never learn…….until the they get a dose of their own medicine in real life (not some fantasy experience that they know is fake).

    The "unpopulars" didn't need to apologize. They were calling them plastics not because of how they dress but because of how fake they are on the inside.
    I know what its like to feel unpopular. I was made fun of for my good grades and it was pushed to a point that I was terrified to raise my hand in class and people hated me for getting the right answer. Not only that but I was teased because of my height and how tall I was, I had girls telling me on a regular basis that I would never find a boyfriend.
    Number one. I don't need a boyfriend, I'm independent as fuck.
    Number two. This summer I was flown all over the country to model. I am would never have gotten this opportunity if I wasn't 5'9"

    Watching this made me tear up because I was bullied all through middle school to the day of my high school graduation when no one but my parents clapped as I walked the stage and some people bood. I am now a senior in college, have a handsome boyfriend, got slim thick, grew my hair out, took out my braces, and even with ALL of that, sometimes the memories and the emotions of being bullied come back and make me go into a shell. I'll be at work and people are laughing at something the boss said, but i'll automatically think they're laughing at me and be sad and quiet all day. Even with my friends. Being bullied doesn't just affect someone during the time. The effects go years and years into the future. Looking back I wish I was more bold to speak up against it. For anyone going through it, SPEAK UP AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU REALLY THINK OF THEM! The worst they can do is push you or call you names, and if they do touch you, report them! Or write an anonymous report. Don't be silent, because staying silent will effect you for years like it has for me

I have friends, yes i would say I'm kind of popular, but i would never be so harsh to call someone 'ugly' or 'fat' or 'losers' its so cruel that people judge other people on their looks. We are all human. Its just cruelty. Yes i understand what I'm saying can be harsh in some cases but bully's need to see how disgusting there personality is, rather than looking at themselves and saying "oh my looks are so amazing, I'm so perfect." Yes they might be pretty on the inside. But there personalities will always be ugly.

    They didn't have to put Tamera on blast like that on national tv... Now it's out there for the world to see and it could hurt her future. I think that's worse than "tripping someone in the hallway.
    Also, you don't have to be pretty to be popular. The "popular" girls at my school are popular because they are confident, dress well, are outgoing, and they hang out with the right people. Some of them are pretty, but some of them are butt ugly. You don't have to be popular to bully people. You can be popular and be bullied.
    You don't have to be ugly or overweight to be "unpopular." It's about how you carry yourself and who you associate with. If you have no confidence, you will be treated like a doormat. Many beautiful people with perfect bodies are unpopular, because they have no confidence and they're socially awkward. Not all "unpopular" kids are bullied.

    TBH I feel like these extreme bullying stories mainly happen in American high schools? Because I'm from Germany and we really have almost no extreme bullying issues, at least in my area. I am aware that this varies from region to region, but bullying just seems like a way bigger problem in America - at least from the stories I've heard.

      Franzi it is. It's a huge problem in American schools, not even just high school but elementary and middle schools too. I was bullied all through out school, my younger sister was bullied. Most schools don't actively do anything about bullying unless it becomes physical, and at that point the victim is punished for unwillingly being involved. For me, bullying didn't stop until I on my own started physically defending myself when I was physically attacked. It took me being hit and shoved into a set of lockers and physically pushing and hitting back for people to realize it didn't matter if I was poor, didn't matter if I wasn't cute, didn't matter if I was socially awkward, I wasn't going to let them treat me like garbage. It was the same for my sister, she was bullied for being "weird" and watching anime and a group of 3 girls decided to jump her. Almost every other week they were physically attacking her and it wasn't until she blacked out and broke one of the girls noses that they backed off.

    This was so interesting to watch. I can totally relate to what the "unpopular" girls were going through. I was my high school's most hated girl because...
    1. I have Aspergers
    2. I was in my "emo phase"
    3. I liked comics and cartoons
    I didn't have any friends. I wasn't in any cliques, groups, or clubs. I'm not on social media. My music taste isn't like the "popular"/preppy girls. I was always alone. Heck, I even sat alone in the cafeteria. Everyone knew me as the weird kid who likes to draw and play video games.
    In senior year, everyone started to at least appreciate me.
    Because I was creative.
    Because I was kind.
    Because I was funny.
    And most of all, because I was different.
    It doesn't matter what clothing brands you wear or represent, or the stuff you like, or even your skills or talent. People will like you if you are a decent and caring human being who respects other human beings. I learned that the hard way, and I'm glad that I never was labeled as a nerd, goth, jock, etc. I was just me, and I was happy at the fact nonetheless.
