    Loving the Angeball support John, thrilling seeing Celtic go toe to toe last night. The way Madrid played through the press for the first goal was excellent, the second coming so quickly after killed Celtic. Still think we saw more than enough from the game to remain encouraged about Celtic’s chances

    for me Valverde is an amazing players, it's just still surprised me on how good he is, he can play as a winger, a box to box midfielder, a wing back, an attacking midfielder, and if you see Madrid 1st goal, it's just amazing what he did. and the fact Madrid signed Valverde, Vini Jr, and Militao years ago is just amazing piece of business.

    Vini's first goal was incredibly similar to his UCL winner against Liverpool with Modric and Carvajal piercing high press then Valverde running on that right flank to make a great assist for Vini. This is something these players can and will do, until people learn that beating high press teams doesn't equal just getting lucky or getting help from refs.

      VARdrid have always been lucky and also got help from refs on countless occasions .. 8 offside goals in just the last 3 seasons lol.. and so many clear red card fouls committed by the likes of Casemiro were over looked .. now City exposed VARdrid that just hitting ppl on transition using players’ individual skills is not sustainable.. without a good style or philosophy of play their luck will run out .. also VARdrid is useless for Spanish international football as they don’t nurture local players much and rely on buying stars .. it took a prime Barca to help Spain win 2 Euros and a World Cup .: but most VARdridistas are daft and Real VARdrid supporters outside Madrid are desperate ppl hopping on to some club which seems to win UCL by hook or crook lol .. zero ball knowledge

    Real Madrid game plan was to bait the press, you can see their passing was like "come press here"... the defenders, full backs & midfielders... they all moved inside the box or the edge of the field. With Kroos & Modric being so press resistant, they drain intense teams.
    If there is a graph.. you could say Liverpool, Celtic or pressing teams start & keep their intensity at 80(random number). Real Madrid are about 20 or 30 intensity, that's why it looks like they're always dominated or overrun but for them, it's normal to suffer & move the ball constantly to make the other team, their players move even more at that intensity. As game went on, Celtic's intensity went to 60, then 40... once it was 40, Real Madrid's intensity suddenly reached 120 for short periods of time... even if they dominated possession... they pass slowly till they find a gap & then boom, 120 intensity & it destroys teams.
    This happened with PSG, Chelsea, Man C & Liverpool. The one who lasted the longest or calculated their intensity was Pep's team cause he knew how Real Madrid players.

      My guy actually understands tactics. It’s actually clearer to see especially in the Champions League and hard to counter unless you take your chances when Madrid do get caught in their low energy phases. Harder to do still because this team has an abundance of attacking quality in Vinicius, Benzema and either Valverde or Rodrygo.

    • @shottskies
      @shottskies Před rokem +7

      I really like this analysis. If this is true and it could well be, a large part of Madrid's tactics is to let the pressers kill themselves.
      Tactical football is more to do with understanding your opponent and hurting them when they present their weakness. Football is a game of wits as much as it is the physical. Carlo says let them run...
      3-0.

    • @manniking233
      @manniking233 Před rokem +5

      @@shottskies But it also explains why they suffer in La Liga. Many teams show up to sit deep and counter, which is frustrating to break down, leading to dreary draws and boring games. Betis notoriously would let Madrid suffer, then, rip them apart in the latter minutes. Tchouameni had energy this season and chose that game to ball out, hence, putting a stop to that in the Betis game a few weeks ago.

Nobody can take that away from us. The score line is flattering to Madrid and we could have been 3-0 up ourselves before half time. Saw it mentioned before but first goal was a carbon copy of the CL final goal. the passing movement in that corner around the wide attacking player's press draws the wing back forward as their pressing trigger which in turn opens up the space behind and acts as the trigger for the real forwards to push forward leaving he defence playing catch as they try to get into shape. it seems like a training ground move designed to work against exactly this system.

      3-0 is a harsh scoreline given how the game went, but that’s what happens when you squander chances. Celtic would have been well worthy of a goal or two had they taken the opportunities. Over the 90 though, Real were well worth the 3 points.

    Angeball can work against lesser teams in Scotland but against better teams Celtic must get goals for all the energy they use in the first half. In the 2nd half v Real Madrid Celtic couldn't even get close enough to foul and spoil Madrid's extended passing moves. The most annoying thing about watching Celtic is that because they tire it means loose balls, rebounds and scrambles are usually mopped up by the fresher, fitter, more savvy opposition players. We love the way Ange has the team playing but sometimes it's better to grind out results like O'Neil, Strachan and Lennon could do.

  • @shottskies
    @shottskies Před rokem

    Would have to agree with this, particularly the main premise in that Ange is a "systems manager" vs Carlo who has more of a tactical approach.
    What's interesting about this analysis is it suggests that where Ange has gone wrong is he's tried to be an everywhere man and perhaps this is what has tired the team out. They tried to be the press high team, the middle block team, morphing into the low bock team, the counter attack team, the "possession" based team. They've tried to be every football team on earth to try and beat RM lol no wonder the players go knackered. Learning curve for Ange it seems.
    To celtic's credit, they did go toe to toe with madrid for the first half and certainly threatened them in a couple of moments. Carlo said himself, madrid had to "suffer in the first half". Eventually Madrid's quality shone through. Madrid were good enough to defend a barrage of punches from celtic and then eventually punch their way back into the game with their finesse.
    Ange looks to have possibly started digging his own hole like he did in Australia whith his "I'll never stray from my high intensity methodologies" approach. Will he swallow his pride and sacrifice his reputation to become more tactical? History shows he probably won't. Ego and ignorance are his flaws.

      This is Real Madrid not your average Scottish football team, even when they're sitting back inviting the pressure, they could easily turn the table around and dominate at any point they desired.
      Celtic is a system team, and against such sides, Carlo likes to sit back for a while and endure the high intensive pressing until the opponent tire themselves up, then hit them when they're too tired to switch to defensive formation as quickly as they're supposed to.
      It's just brilliant to watch, and it's been working for a while now, people think that Real Madrid is an underdog, while overlooking the genius of a tactician with 5 UCL titles who found the best plan to effectively dismentle system teams.

      Sounds very basic, but have better/more experienced players? I think they (Celtic) did everything right but convert the 3 -4 good chances they had. If you had Top 3 big league level attacking players quality finishing you would be looking at Real having to start to chase the game, like Man City Vs Real last year. I am very interested to see if Real vs City rematch with Halaand

      Valverde is unique in Stamina and class. There's a lot of "runners" and "speedsters" in football right now, the one who looks similar or a little bit superior is Bisouma. But the way Valverde function for the team it's truly gold.
      A lot of others only run a lot, example:
      Adama Traore (Attack)
      Henderson (Midfield)
      DeJong (Midfield)
