Update: I am aware that those who cannot hear well or at all are not enjoying the video as the others are, so I created and added subtitles. Be kind if there are any errors. I will try to correct them.

The whole awkward silence after the first intro was actually unscripted. Most of those peasants were actually homeless Czech citizens who didn't speak english and didn't know they were supposed to cheer after Chaucer was done talking, but Roland cued them in and it looked so damn honest they left it in.

Paul Bettany is an absolute genius when it comes to acting... I swear, funniest character in the whole movie.

Paul Bettany is, without a doubt, the best part of this movie.
And that is actually saying a lot. Everyone in this film was perfectly cast, I thought.
I disagree, but that's probably only because I'm biased towards Heath Ledger. He is my second favorite actor, my favorite being Johnny Depp.
He's like the cherry on a perfect ice cream sundae

Fun fact: the extras didn’t speak English, so the silence after Roland’s speech was a blooper, the audience missed the cue. But the crew decided to roll with it, and Mark Addy basically cued them.

I love the part where he says whisper and actually looks like he crossed the line and is going to weep but also could crack up because of how extra he is being... I love the character of Chaucer, Bettany killed it
Paul Bettany is a freakin' brilliant actor. He goes from this… unrestrained jubilation, to the sober serenity of Vision.
I'm so happy I've realized his talent, he's great

With several stops on imaginary person, psycho killer monk, and badass archangel. And it really took me to see him as gummed-up slapstick robot to finally pay proper attention to how freakin' good this guy is.

Prince Mapoleon cause its a goox movie! Good original story, good acting, amazing sound track, funny scenes. I dont know why it has such bad ratings.
That last introduction always gets me. I have seen a knight's tale probably over 50 times. Every time, "here he is, one of your one, born a stone's throw from this very stadium" I get a little emotional

The first scene is one of my favorites especially when I found out it the response wasn't scripted. The crowd didn't speak English so they didn't know they were supposed to cheer. So the actor cheered and that let them know to cheer. And they kept it in the movie
Paul Bettany’s most brilliant performance ever.
The crowd were supposed to chear when Paul had finished his lines on the first one, but because they were in Eastern Europe they basically didnt get it cos of translation or something, and then Mark cheered and they all got the message. They kept it in cos it was so bloody funny.
That's a movie of the rare kind you want to re-watch again and again whenever you reach the end.
had to write a paper on a movie in college. Asked my husband which movie he could handle seeing/hearing multiple times. I wrote my Paper on A Knights Tale.
So, JARVIS makes an intro for The Joker, no one cheers, so King Robert Baratheon comes to the rescue! YEAH!

Apparently the Czech extras didn’t understand what he was saying so Mark Addy ad libbed the YEAH part then they cheered. The director thought it was much funnier that way so he left it alone.
Paul Bettany was so freakin' awesome in this movie. :)

Williams little Motley crew is the best ever assembled in a movie. Wat, the hothead, Geoff the smooth talker, Roland the equalizer and Kate the intelligent one. All such good characters.

Vision is a great character, but whenever I see Paul Bettany, I see Chaucer. That was Chaucer I saw in the Avengers movies.

Minor correction: Geoff says "turpulence", not "turbulence" - "turpulence" being a rather old word meaning to be enveloped in the presence of someone. Which is even cooler.

This guy steals the show he literally owns this movie everyone does good but these parts I always remember
his character was naked and penniless and addicted to gambling and lying and whatchamacallit . . . forgery! yeah that's the word

i saw it in the theater not knowing anything about it...when the intro included a Queen song mixed in..I knew then it was going to be a great movie...and it was.
Talk about laying it on thicker than crunchy peanut butter... Paul's speech is inspiring 😅😅😅😅

Did you know that the first scene in this clip was 100% authentic. The extras they used were all foreigners and did not understand any English. The original plan was to get the crowd to cheer after the big speech, but it didn't go as planned as you see here. Roland interjecting with a "yyeaahh!" was completely spontaneous in hopes that it would get the crowd to cheer. The Director liked it so much they put it in the movie.

@@hollygolightly8970 No, that's blazon. Description of an achievement of arms (coat of arms and all the external devices) in stylized language. A listing is called Titles and Styles. Such as "King of ...., Prince ..., Archduke in ...., Lord ...., etc etc.
