Everytime I watch your video I have to make sure my notepad is with me, I can't memorize all the important facts and tips, but the more video I watch, the more it stays in my aging brain.. lol. I specially appreciate how you speak slowly, and clearly, it matters for the senior generations. Thank you
I appreciate your feedback!
This tips bring my video quality every watch if your video thx the best chanel yet ❤❤
ありがとうございます!
This is really been helpful for me the way you explain it in detail!!! Thank you!!!
I appreciate your feedback and you’re welcome!
Thank you for this great tutorial, I found the step by step showing the on screen changes super helpful. So if you set white balance to 5500k for the exterior, what would you suggest for indoor shots? or should the white balance just be changed to auto? Thanks again.
Straight to the point, clear and easy to understand. Subscribed 🙌
Thank you and I appreciate your support!
Thank you so much for your knowledge.
You’re welcome!
Came across your channel today. Really informative and great content on the GoPro.
Question… If all I want to do is record my walks around different neighborhoods, is a gopro necessary or do you have another option to recommend?
appreciate your video man - regards from UK - you have an amazing family and very neat videos !
Thank you, much appreciated!
Thank you very much! Really helpful! I got a question though...I checked link you gave us for the Inkee Falcon Plus and on the page doesn't say that is suitable for gopro 11 but only up till gopro 10! Is that right or I cn use it on my gopro 11?
Thank you again!
Great looking video. Looking forward to the editing video. Thanks.
Thanks, I’ll have that one out soon!
Your video is super! Your narration voice is very clear and easy to understand in Japanese and me. Thank you very much.
Thank you. I appreciate your feedback and support!
Nice helpful Video. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I really liked your exposure tip at the end.
Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you found this useful.
Great Video! Will the GoPro 11 fit with the Anamorphic lens attached?
Most useful.
Thank you!
Why at 9:29 the footage is a little pixelated and not that high quality as the rest of the viddeo? I ve seen this in more youtube videos and I am affraid I will not be able to get the best quality if I get a go pro.
Would setting the White Balance to Auto also be ok for that “cinematic” look?
Always enjoy your videos. What would be your best settings for outdoor hiking this time of year when everything is brown?
Great question. I would use the flat mode with 10-bit and then grade that footage to really bring out the contrast and more subtle color differences. That seems to help this time of year.
Hi there,
How do I blur out the back ground like you have in this video?
Whats the best setting if your walking through the city recording ?
Thanks a lot for these great video. In 2 weeks we wanna try to create a cinematic video in the Swiss alps. We will let you know how it works.
That sounds like an incredible adventure. Hope you have a great time!
Good job Bro
Thanks.
Fantastic, taking notes, and excited to explore your other videos. A heartfelt thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a clearly presented and thorough fashion.
I really appreciate your feedback and support and I hope you have a lot of fun with your GoPro!
Of all the action camera videos I watch (too many!) I find yours the most instructive and well-presented. Thanks for taking the time to make them. You know what you're talking about.
Maybe we shouldn't mention "action camera" and "cinematic" in the same sentence? I bet anyone making genuinely cinematic recordings is surrounded by $100,000s worth of gear. But even so, we can use the great techniques you mention to get quality video from these very small sensors.
In my more limited experience I've built up accessories that allow me to get very pleasing results with my GoPro 11 and DJI Action 2 and 3. GoPro products are much too expensive, in my opinion. I bought myself a sturdy, metal, fully extendible selfie stick (£19) with a 1/4" hole into which I attach an aliminium mini-tripod (£17) with widely splayed legs - it's unlikely to blow over.
I attach my old Tascam DR-05X to the stick for much better outdoor sound quality than I get from the built-in GoPro mics or the awkward and expensive Media Mod. Although I have to sync later in software, it's not hard to do.
I appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Valid point with the cinematic comparison.
Sounds like a great setup you created with both the tripod and the audio recording.
Hello! I just subscribed. Loved this video. Do you have any recommendations on how someone (like me) that is new to a GoPro, and also a new and wannabe videographer can find tutorials, or classes that get me going in the right direction from a learning standpoint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support! If you haven't checked out this video yet, this one is a great place to get started with the Hero 11: czcams.com/video/5rck0XpGdp4/video.html
If you want to learn more about videography techniques there are several options out there such as SkillShare, Udemy, and others that many speak highly of.

6:07 I use Native :) Great video, lots of good info here! I'm curious to see how you edit your videos 😁👍🏻
I have used Native from time to time and like those results as well. Thanks, looking forward to sharing that!
GREAT Vid. Can I use these exact settings for underwater capture for a cinematic video?
Yes, most of these settings should translate well to that setting as long as there is sufficient lighting from above the surface.
@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you. When I import my videos onto my timeline it has a black box around each video. When I export and finish the video it looks normal and fullscreen which is good. How do I fix it whilst cutting and editing so I can get a closer look at my colours and what I'm doing please help.
What camera are you using for this video, shot inside? Thanks for the awesome how-to videos.
I appreciate it. I used the Sony a7S III to film the indoor portions.
A good video, the fps though should be shot at the intended speed to make it look more cinematic. I used to shoot with 60 fps on all the time but if you use the footage at 30 fps the motion blur won't look right. Its best to just setup a 30 fps and a 120 fps preset and use the appropriate one for the designated shot.
Yes, my preference is to shoot 24fps with a shutter speed of 1/48. This combination with the ND filter is great.
Do you need a gimbal for creative shots? On a bright mid-day a shutter speed of 1/48 will require an ND filter and I heard action camera image stablization does not work well on low fps. So is a gimbal needed for stable cinematic shots?
Yes, I use a gimbal when using ND filters, the anamorphic lens, or really low light filming. All of these situations either require Hypersmooth to be off or benefit from it being turned off.
@@GreatDayForAHike I am buying a used Hohem iSteady 4 pro today after reading your response. Thank you
You’re welcome.
Hi, I have a GoPro 11 Black camera, and when I take pictures, I get horizontal and vertical stripes like a green square ..... could that be the fault?
That does not sound normal at all. I have not seen this before on a GoPro but I would recommend reaching out to GoPro support to see if you can do a warranty claim for this issue.
Thank you very much, for the answer and the work done..
Wow nice tutorial idol very very nice kaya lang cellphone lang gamit ko pang blog di pa kc kaya bumili ng go pro biginer vloging pa kc
Thank you. I do like the GoPro.
How can I take best photos using gopro11 ? Please share the settings

This should be helpful to you.
When you say editing videos, do you mean editing the videos through the GoPro quik app? Or where?
DaVinci Resolve on a computer. Here: czcams.com/video/8uViY4Aplio/video.html
@@GreatDayForAHike great thank you!!! You are so helpful and new sub!! Still going through your videos! And thanks for the super quick reply!!
My privilege and I appreciate your support!
sorry i don't speak english very well soo can i use the hyper view with the hyper smoth at the same time
Yes you can. Hypersmooth works with hyperview.
@@GreatDayForAHike can i do that with 4k
@@GreatDayForAHike can i do that with 1080 p
Yes you can do with both 4K and 1080p.
Are you making one for the GoPro hero 12?
Yes, I will be.
awesome! I am following your low light tips to take better low light pics.@@GreatDayForAHike
Hello mate, I just shot all my videos from a vacation trip as per your settings but unable to play any videos on my windows 10 PC. thoughts ?
Check to see if you have the HEVC codec installed. If not, you can purchase this from the Windows Store for 99 cents and then install it. Unfortunately, Windows doesn’t bundle this codec with their operating system and it has to be purchased. I suspect this will solve this problem.
@@GreatDayForAHike THanks for your reply. Will the videos with HEVC from GoPro directly be able to play on the new Macbook air M2's ?
Yes, they should play okay on the MacBook Air M2.
@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you. Also, would you recommend to transfer the videos/pics from gopro to the PC/MAC directly over usb rather than the quickapp and then phone to PC ? I had issues with getting my videos out of my iphone to the PC via the USB transfer. I went from gopro to quick app (on my iphone) rather than GoPro to PC.
Yes I recommend either connecting your GoPro direct to your PC via the USB cable or putting the MicroSD card into a USB or SD adapter depending upon the available ports on your device.
Nice video! I also have a GoPro 11 Black, but the 4k video 60 fps works only when not moving the camera right/left or up/down. The video footage has this "stop...continue" thing, so it freezes for a 1/10 of a second and then continues, and this happens 2/3 times a second. I contacted gopro support and they replaced my camera under warranty, unfortunately the replaced camera was not brand new either.... I tried shooting videos again but the problem is the same. When I contacted them showing the problem again, they said they can't see it. Horrible customer service. The camera has good image quality but is not powerful enough to handle 4k video while moving around. Has anyone experienced the same problem?
Thank you! What you describe almost sounds like a rolling shutter issue. I haven't observed this is a significant manner on the Hero 11 I own, but I have noticed rolling shutter quite a bit on the Action 3 when I use it.
How much quality do I lose by transferring videos and pictures to my phone versus to my computer?
Like to the Quik app 🤔🤔🤔
Why is my 10bit in settings grey and not able to change?
Make sure you have the video mode in the General settings menu set to Highest Quality.
@@GreatDayForAHike another problem I had. I set the color to flat on some videos I took with white balance high and my videos came out horrible all like a faded grey color. Is there a way to fix them or they screwed up?
Flat will have low saturation on the colors so that you can selectively add back color when editing/grading the footage. It is normal for the footage to be washed out and gray until you “bring it back to life” with the colors. If you feel like your white balance is off use the white balance eye dropper to click on something in your footage that is white and it will correct this.
@@GreatDayForAHike OK you say it’s fixable, but does that mean fixable on the quick app or any other app or how does it get fixed? Thank you so much for the help.
Sana Magka karon din ako ng go pro paro
Thanks
Your wife is pretty
Yes, she sure is.
Your accent sounds like Northern Ireland, UK
I’m from the United States but I can see how it sounds like that due to where I am from.
@@GreatDayForAHike US accent is 80% Irish origin
No. The accents are v different.
it's a shame that the gopro doesn't have some shooting modes... cinematic to change the colors a bit and so on🫣
The newer GoPros, including the Hero 11, have several different modes that can be tweaked and those pre-sets saved. One of the modes is named “Cinematic.” I use this mode for my preset for the settings for footage that I want to grade later on. Flat color profile, low sharpness, etc.
@@GreatDayForAHike It's a bit pointless that the phones have a better cinematic mode than the GoPro... kudos to you for the review, but it's a bit disappointing
quality looks so bad on youtube
This is a more recent video from the GoPro Hero 11 that I used these settings for: czcams.com/video/KqixLMIw--g/video.html
It seems like the CZcams compression may be better on this without as much quality loss.
@@GreatDayForAHike idk man it seems to me that youtube compression’s got very very harsh on footages. i’ve been watching a bunch of hero11 videos and it just looks like 720p, super grainy and very low resolution. since i wanted to buy it idk where to seek reference footage now
If you watch it on 4K on a device screen or monitor that supports 4K it should look better but yes, it’s not going to be displayed at the bitrate it was captured using.
@@GreatDayForAHike ofc I'm not gonna be able to see 4k cause I'm watching on a 1080p screen, but quality just feels bad.. idk anyway thanks for answering, it's not your fault ofc
Yeah you’re welcome.
