... good heavens, Callas is superlative in every conceivable level. What she's doing in this performance is just astounding both vocally and musically. Thank you very much for the posting.
I am much inclined to hold that high D in d'amour as the single most splendid sound to have ever exited the human throat. The pulsing of a neutron star penetrates the universe with less commanding force, focus and brilliance than that elemental phenomenon that reverberates eternally.
The downwards runs of Vivra contente is so exquisitely articulated it is literally unheard of and lifts you right out of yourself from sheer stupefaction.
Simionato is in truly sublime form here.
She was in very good voice that day, this is the best of the best of Callas. Her Leonora is the standard till today, not Leontyne's Price no, but Callas is the best Leonora of recorded history. She was truly unique and incomparable in this role.
Your collection is one to be envied. I use your pages more than any of the others. For reading, or falling asleep at night, you're the one I go to the most. I have severe tinnitus, and our Diva makes it a bit more tolerable to live with. Many thanks to you for taking the time to upload all of this material...
Wonderful sound l!! As usual your vinyl collection has by far the best and clearest sound!!! thank you for providing us with all these amazing gems in sound that that we have never heard before. If you can do it why can't some record company come out with a proper collection in clear sound that we can all buy and keep it instead of having to rely on YT only and worry that some day YT might close yours or other channels down and they will be lost.
La Callas e' semplicemente divina.
Baum - una vocalità eroica del Tenore vero.
Warren e' meraviglioso.
addio bel passato,addio per sempre!
**********************************************infinite!
I was not expecting the E & D . wow !!! Loved it & THANK YOU Arnold Bourbon Amaral
gracias por subir tanta hermosura ! no deje nunca de hacerlo
...thank you very much, dear John !!
Wooooooow el mejor elenco de la historia de la ópera
💐🌹🌺🙏
Callas would refine her Leonora later, here she is so passionnate and feverish, the singing is very exciting with the added D and E flat

Estupendo Fabuloso!!!!!
Tengo programas originales de cuando María Callas, La Divina, cantó en el Palacio de Bellas Artes de México, en 1952. ¡¡ Viva la inmortal María Callas !!!
The tempo of the duet with Warren should be marked by a metronome by someone, Ariadne - that seemed almost near presto or allegro agitato. God in Heaven-every new discovery puts another jewel in her diadem. Who ever in history sang like THAT?
is there the whole opera or just excerpts of this performance?
Performed #otd in 1950 🌹🌹🌹
Pitch is wonky in this recording, too high
I absolutely agree with you. His vocal timbre was awful and his technique just as bad. And absolutely no musicianship or artistry. All he was interested in was shouting everybody else down. I have never understood why anyone considered him to be one of the top tenors of that period!!
