- Today I finally arrived in Manila, and what a place it is! Me and @TheJourneyofJosh were blown away by the friendly and warm-hearted locals aswell as putting our tastebuds to the test on some local street food! This is my first impressions and I have to say I will be back for more!

PWD means person with disability, the balls on bamboo skewers were cheese carioca, its like a local mochi ball, the flower garland that you bought from the vendor is called sampaguita (sam-pa-gi-ta), it’s usually hanged on a statue at church for adoration. The snack you ate was “kikiam” minced meat with a batter smothered with a sweet soy concoction. You and Josh have a great adventure around the city! You are a choc-full of energy! You said your from Manchester? From the travel videos I saw it seems to be a quaint neighborhood! England is very picturesque! ❤❤❤

"Mabuhay" is currently used as "Welcome." But the traditional use of "Mabuhay" is "Long live" . "Buhay" is life.
ha is the breath of life. in the same way as aloha is Hawaiian greeting for long love mabuhay is for the Philippines. our languages in the Philippines belong to a family of languages called malayo Polynesian which stretches from the Philippines to the Polynesian Islands.

Street food in the Philippines is a little different than in Thailand. Night markets are great but the real food is at the local small eateries / shops (slightly different than food stands) that have 1 or 2 specialties. Try the Beef Pares Usok at Jim's Pares. Once you have tried this I think you'll get an idea of what places to look for while in the Philippines. Safe Travels!

"Kumusta kayo?" literally means How are you? 'Kumusta" is derived from Spanish words "Como esta?" Philippines was a colony of the Spain for more than 300 years, thus the integration of some Spanish words into the national language/dialiects.

Sampaguita flowers! They smell so good! You typically hang them in car or anywhere in the room or hang them when one goes to church on a religious icon or an altar at home.
Just discovered your channel alongside your friend Josh. Enjoy exploring Manila and the Philippines. Try everything! Ask us anything for recommendations. It’s the best time to be there this Christmas season. Try Christmas food and goto different food markets in the area of Makati, BGC. Try not to miss the evening Christmas Light Show on Ayala Ave. Hit all the malls too for amazing decors and to cool yourself when it gets too hot for you. Seriously food is amazing even other cuisines, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Italian, burgers etc. Try to go to different areas - Poblacion, Ortigas, Eastwood, Quezon City, Alabang, BGC and you’re in Makati which is ideal place to start it’s the centre. Will be looking forward to your vlog! 🇵🇭

THE FLOWERS are CALLED SAMPAGUITA - tagalog for Jasmine Flower (jasmine tea). It is The national flower of the philippines. The flowers that are hanging are called Ylang Ylang. The flower necklace are usually used for religious offerings,

The garland or lei that you purchases from the lady is a combination of sampaguita which is the national flower and perhaps ylang ylang or any kind of jasmine-like flower that Filipinos put on religious Catholic statues on altars and shrines.

Visit the modern BGC a neighboring city of makati it is a modern city and the foreign vloggers home many westerners and other nationalities live there and a lot is happening so vibrant and lively city. Explore bgc highstreet, bgc forbes town, bgc uptown, the venice grand canal mall in mckinley hill, check out also the american cemetery in bgc it is a tourist spot many foreign visiting that place there’s so much history in there. Ofcourse the main manila intramuros, fort santiago, rizal park (Luneta park), manila cathdral. Also the mall of asia, okada manila. Enjoy the philippines! 🧡🥰

PWD (persons with disability since theres no elevator there) and its fortunate for u unless u want to be walking in wheelchairs (a wheelchair is drawn in the pavement) or u wanna have cerebral
palsy. PWDs here are always the priority and unfortunately theres no elevator for them for the underpass. Thank u for not bitching about it unlike the other European vlogger who ranted and got really offended and thought its just for VIP for office people.

Check the following places like Green Belt in Makati, Bonifacio Global City (BGC ) American Cemetary, Venice Grand Canal Mall, Mall of Asia ( MOA ) this is all in Metro Manila. Then the Beaches like Boracay, Elnido in Palawan and Coron & in Bohol Chocolate Hills and Visit the Tarsiers smallest primate....👍

You were saying it correctly. "Kamusta ka" when you are addressing someone who is about the same age or younger, and "Kamusta kayo" when you are addressing someone who is much older or several people. Learning more Tagalog words will help you increase your viewers.

Your basic tagalog is pretty good. Better than I would expect for a newly arrived person. Luneta is a park famous for being where Jose Rizal was executed (firing squad) and buried. Rizal was a nationalist that gave his life for speaking against Spanish colonial rule.

@@kayyywild Yes, Rizal was marched off from Fort Santiago (in Intramuros) to Luneta only to be shot. So the two sites are historically connected. With tagalog, just remember that all words use short vowel sounds. Nothing worse than mispronouncing words. Your friend, Josh, mispronounced 'Rizal' of all things. He said, Ryezal. Should be Reezal. C'mon Josh, expected better.

PWD is Person With Disability. Because crossing the roads need to cross the underpass, some PWDs especially the ones with wheelchairs will have a very hard time or nearly impossible to use the underpass. To help the PWDs cross the roads, the city provided their exclusive pedestrian lane
