Nandini.. although its a common behavior of all kids when they dont like anything they do like this but this go away with their developing taste so whatever he does not like try those items less in quantity but do put them in plate even if its one or a half bite and gradually increase the portion.. rice usually kids swallow so u can give overcooked rice so there is no digestion problem later

If you want develop speech.parallal talk is very helpful. Constantly explain what your are doing to your child.
Like mummy is cooking.explain each things around you.
This way there vocabulary will develop.make them repeat word .for example this is gas.this is belan.next day ask what is this.if he ans correct den say belan se roti belate hain.make him repeat next say again check belan se kya karate hain? If ans correctly go for next word.join the words n make sentence. If your child good at it. Teach 2 word same time.
Repeat whole process every day in every activity.it will take 2-3 months .
Speech will start from single word,the noun and verb ,and finally it will connect and complete sentence. It's long process might take 6 months .fluency will come n year.
I have seen my son grown .started mummy @1.11yr old to completing sentence in 2.4 yr.it took 5 months and constant narration.
Keep trying.
