    I realized that i did this basically since I was born and I’m still at a young age and we have to run the mile every single Monday during school for the past 2 years now and continuing still. The issue with my habit is that when I run it causes more pain in other parts of my body and the teachers don’t know that nor will they care. This makes it extra hard and stressful to run every week more then it would be for any other kid my age

    Im 13 and for as long as I can remember i walked on my toes. I did it ever since I was a baby. Now it's hard for me to walk flat footted. Walking flat puts you off balance so much compared to on your toes. Am I going to get problems in the future. :(

I am asking because i was told to go to therapy and went for a year but i stopped going for half a year now, the thing is mine isin't severe at all, you really have to focuse in order to notice i walk on my toes. And i am thinking of not going to therapy ever again because it seems like i don't need it.

    Please be careful with this exercise. Overemphasizing the use of the heel can carry over into running form and cause excessive heel strike during running. The resulting injury from heel strike is the formation of shin splints and eventually medial tibial stress fractures. People who walk on their toes often have short, quick strides and underdeveloped gluteal muscles. Often lengthening the stride with deliberate use of the glutes (and eventual glute strengthening) will correct walking on the toes.
    Emphasizing heel strike may correct whats happening at the foot but ultimately do nothing for short gaits and under developed support muscles of the legs and arms that impact walking form.

      That's interesting information. I'm not sure if you're a foot specialist, but maybe you could help me. I'm having tight tendon problems, its swollen (cracking it all the time) on my right foot because of trying to correct my bouncing and walking on toes due to me being naturally a shy but peppy person and think thats why it became a problem for me overtime. I have really short legs too from being 5'2 and my feet are long and wide with a high arch. I tried high arch support insoles but it makes my walking stiff and stepping harder on the ground causing it harder to walk properly. People tend to stare and can't seem to correct it right. I always walked with a bounce and now that I'm 35, it seems like I've been worn out from it. Why is it as you age, your feet get worse? I've done a lot of walking and biking on a daily basis and it seems when I rest my body, I feel more energized, but thats only on the weekends from working. When its a hot summers day, the humidity gets to me more and I'm even worst with walking and biking. I went to the doctor about this problem and all she gave me was stretches to do and to buy arch support insoles and that's not working. It's swollen and I have an ice pack on it right now. Massaging it helped earlier, but now its back to being stiff again with some pain. Its just my right foot too. My left is great. I know I had pulled out my lower back a lot of times in the past and my tail bone always on my right side, so I think that was also part of the foot issue. I had also been thrown off my bike once 4 years back causing both my knees to swell (and heal in a month) and I never had a tight tendon issue before until after that incident it seems. I'm not sure how it happened. Maybe it was from trying to correct my gait over time, or maybe it was all the injuries I had and it threw off my hip.

      @shan4883 Před 5 lety

      same here!! I wonder the same and I'm 35 now and I always walked with a bounce and a limp on my right side. But I think it was due to lower back injuries over time and tail bone injuries on my right side causing my hip to be thrown off a little. I also have a tight tendon issue with my right foot that had swelled up in the last 5 months now and I'm much stiffer when walking and it has thrown off my usual gait and I'm limping more on my right side. I always wondered if I have a shorter leg than the other too though since I do have short legs as a 5'2 woman.

      It's not to easy though. It out me off balance and I call backwards

    • @shan4883
      @shan4883 Před 5 lety

      same, I use to walk with my back leaned back more, but due to lower back injuries and tail bone injuries it made my back stiff to walk that way and I tend to lean a lot when I'm on the computer, which I think was also a cause of poor posture over time now. I can still correct my posture though but its going to be awkward walking as its harder in stepping properly. It wears me out and I have short legs from being 5'2 with long and wide feet. I bounce too and I also have a right foot problem with a tight tendon swelled up. If I do the heal to toe normal walking, my high arch seems stiff and since my tendon is swollen its like walking on a board. My brain got use to walking with this gait it seems since I first walked and like someone else says, it can be due to under developed ligaments and possible weakness in the feet and calve area when we were born. Having a short tendon is also the cause. Whenever I practice walking normally, I get stares from the awkwardness of my walk. lol its not fun. People need to learn to respect others especially if they had injuries, or a different walking gait like theirs.

    • @alexcrowder1673
      @alexcrowder1673 Před 7 lety +2

      Im in the same boat. I don't have any pain but my calves are wildly inflexible and my heels generally only touch the ground if I'm standing for long periods of time. I can walk with my heels but I tend to trip on my own feet when doing so. On the bright side I'm sure you have amazing calves from walking on your toes. My calves are actually larger than my quads. you probably learned to walk incorrectly as a child and it stuck with you into adulthood. I'm in the exact same boat minus the pain. Do you think their could be another reason for the pain? are you sure it's not just the muscle getting a little sore from a long day? because that would be pretty normal.

    • @aliaalbinali947
      @aliaalbinali947 Před 7 lety

      Alex Crowder hey ,yes i do have very strong calves and yes i started walking with my toes first touching the ground followed by my heel normally i think i walk backwards compaerd to normal walking but i dragged myself to a surgen and explained everything turns out from all those years my achilles tendon shrunk and my calves took overtime thats why it hurt so bad anyways long story short he punched a few holes in it and now i can walk normally its called "achilles tendon lengthening surgery" but i doubt youll need it since your heels can touch the ground may be try botox in your calves first and then work up to the surgery if you need it warning it hurts alot and you want be able to walk after without a cast and crutches .
