- Once upon a time, an eccentric but creative artist named Hugo Kellen came to a small New York town and settled down in a vacant unmodernized mansion, where he would spend his remaining years in the United States. Throughout his time there, he grew from being a relatively poor and unknown designer to being well-known worldwide for his pieces. Kellen, along with his boyfriend lived inside their gigantic 7,000 square foot mansion on 8 acres, and no day passed without efforts to build additions or collect antiques for the interior. With 4 floors of space, quite a collection was created, including a full-sized organ from 1842, many 1 of 1 artworks, and even their daily drive, a 1959 220SE Mercedes Cabriolet. However, Kellen’s life took a sudden turn after his boyfriend died in 2013, causing heartbreak and emptiness in the home. He arranged a funeral inside, along with digging a grave and creating a wooden coffin himself. However, even after the funeral procession, Kellen could not bring himself to bury the body, so it was kept inside the home for weeks after in the homemade coffin. He found himself increasingly empty and lonely as time went on, and disregarded crucial repairs to the roof of his home, allowing water damage and mold to grow while he lived inside. Eventually, the heartbreak was too much for him and he disappeared from his home and the United States in 2016, leaving everything behind. This home is something I have never seen before, with millions of dollars of belongings left inside to rot. Come along as we explore everything and uncover the secrets that lay within.

Places like this needs to be made a historical museum. It's a sin to let it rot..makes me sad.

This pad is the type of house you'd see back in the 70s. Beautiful hippie style pad. My kinda place with all the tapestries, beautiful and colorful wall hangings, abstract artwork and just unusual artifacts and paintings. These places were pretty common place in the 70s. The only thing missing was the black lights and florescent posters. I'd move into that beautiful place in a heartbeat. Also, that car. It's so unfortunate for this beautiful place and car just left to the elements. Of all the abandoned places I have watched over many years passed, this home is absolutely one of my favorites. Thank you so much for sharing. You did an amazing job going through each room and allowing us to see the beauty of this place. This is definitely one place I would have loved to explore. Anyone who didn't grow up in the 70's will never know what an amazing time it was to experience. But,this house was the perfect example of how the real hippies back then lived. I loved this pad!!!

The room next to the kitchen with all those cabinets and glassware and dishes is called a Butler's pantry that's where they kept some dishes and glasses ... and extras .
Thank you for showing more of the area and I had no idea it was so close to other homes as it gave such a feeling of remoteness .
In the basement where the fireplace was and you said it was a party room , it was pointing out in another channel that it was some kind of an adult entertainment room and you could see that it was .
What a fascinating place and it's really such a shame the way it is crumbling and has rotting ceilings
I want you to know that on another video with urban explorers I got bashed by several people getting mad at me and saying that's not the name of the owner .
Some of them gave me a hard time about it believe me .
I follow many and watched hundreds of Urban explorations, and I have to say that this is up the top of the most amazing properties I've seen on CZcams (and saddest too). Thank you for a brilliant video 🙏
As an artists myself it would kill me to walk away leaving all the art to mold and decay. Could you imagine all the amazing pieces we would have lost had someone left them and not conserved what was painted and loved through history? I just can't. It is literally painful to witness. SOMEONE needs to save their art, and turn it all over to a museum so they can conserve it and show it in their names. The story to this alone makes it worthy.
Eccentric would be the best word to describe the person who lived here. Such a shame no one was left behind to enjoy his collections.
It is really one of the most, if not the most, impressive place / video i've seen.

@@silenthillsexplorationsI haven't watched all of this because I came from another Channel where they showed the whole house and even up in the artist studio but I heard his name is Hugo Kellen and someone claimed to have found his blog and that at least maybe in 2020 he was in Burma and that he even was writing in his blog as of a month ago even though he's 92 now
@gardensofthegods I wish he would do an interview before he dies or hopefully he leaves a journal or something because the information on him is vague ro say the least. The articles that have been written are hear say and a movie about his life would be awesome. He should also claim his art at his age is wouldn't be long before it's really expensive or he could possibility sell it now...seems like a waste.

Heres the thing, as a fella who absolutely loves history, i must agree, to enter into a home or anywhere that does not belong to you is a crime,would you want it done to you or a loved one? Hell no!! BUT to the one who said to tell the history of the man an all his accomplishments but not his name is wrong. Its like tell the history of Lincoln but not his name. History is history an if you PUT YOURSELF in the public eye for all too see your art an such then thats where it is, your personal life should be your own but what you do because you want fame is out there...
I commented on Reddit. Great find! Especially in the US. Someone needs to buy the house and land. It is still salvageable. Looks like they collected chandeliers and that top box structure looks like possibly a sunroom.

It's so sad he gave up on his home and walked away due to a broken heart. That is just sad beyond words. The home, and everything inside probably was too painful for him because he had gotten everything with his lover. Makes me wonder whatever became of him? Your music set the mood, and I could feel the pain.
Two things,......the wooden slats inside the walls are called 'lath', not paneling. Paneling is what is put on the outside of the walls, not inside. Lath was commonly used in homes from the 1700's to the 1950's. A cement substance would be smeared unto the lath and pushed between the slats to hold everything together, and then a chicken wire type screen would be put on top and then paster. That's how walls were made.
At the bottom the stairs where the lions were sitting, are called 'Newel Posts', not steeples. Steeples are the tall pointy roof type structures on churches. Newel Posts can be plain, or quite elaborate, some even with lights within statues. Plain Newel Posts especially in the South, often were hollow, and were where families kept important papers and jewels during the civil war.
This is a fabulous house and the items inside are exquisite! It would be a crime to tear it down especially with everything inside as some items belong in a museum, especially the organ and his personal artwork. I didn't catch it if you mentioned it, how long has the house been abandoned? I wonder if anyone could buy anything from there?

The home is still in the owner's name. By what I have found, he owes back taxes on the property. Unless he has recently passed, he is 92 years old.

I am confused about the name of this designer. Credible sources say this was the home of Tzaims Luksus. One can find photos of this man Luksus inside this home (actually, even a photo of Luksus presiding over the funeral of Gene Lott as Lott lay in the coffin seen inside this house). I don't think Hugo Kellen is the correct name.

There is a shot in another video of this place that shows a stack of The Organ magazine with the latest issue being January 2019. So someone was there at least as late as December 2018.

There's not much about him in detail. He was a guy that stayed to himself, he's actually still alive but people can't seem to put a finger on him and no that's not his name. I'm assuming by not saying they name they are trying to stop people from finding the house so it doesn't get robbed, which has already happened from watching other videos, but if you google hard enough and put in the right clues you can figure it out.
I believe he is still alive and still designing at 92 years old.

It was his brother, he passed away in 2013 and he is buried in the manor gardens.

The artists name is not Hugo Kellen. Do your research. Grief and trauma can break many people and though he abandoned this home the artist lives on in his 90's. It's a shame his mausoleum will soon be ransacked by thieves after all you UE ytubers exposing his sanctuary are finished getting your views. They will find his location and treasures one day soon.

Why do you make the ridiculous assumption "That it will probably be demolished with everything still inside" . I doubt it, There are more than enough interesting and valuable items to make it attractive to someone to sell them on someone's behalf, even the local council could raise some money for either his estate or a local charity. But far far too cool to waste. After all if you just count the lights/chandeliers, how many do you think at several hundred - to several thousand each or the organ - tens of thousands, they come apart to move. It must been a beautiful house when it was built. These two men had a huge home but way too many things! A big house is to enjoy making it pretty with what ever people like but not like this!

Someone mentioned that one of the owners is alive and is not happy with you showing the house. You are probably making money with your video. That’s why when I become older I will live lighter, sell many things, keep the most necessary. I wouldn’t like people snooping my belongings!

The owner is not dead, his partner died and is buried out back
There is a rumor that the owner either has a son or gave the bastard son of his ex wife who was pregnant before marrying and trying to make him think it was his but after the wedding told him she got pregnant before by a Sociology professor at Penn University. This so called son has tried killing him several times and who is not getting anything in an inheritance is behind the break ins and vandalism by being paid by the town and village government who is trying to take the property by illegal actions. Apparently police get authority from this guy that is founder and President of COG Cincinatti Ohio Graphics Corporation. Would never help the man who supported him, sent him to Friens's Select Private School and gave him his surname to give him legitimacy. Apparently tried klling him 5 times but failed,.. once witnessed by Philadelphia police on Christmas Eve 1980 or 1981,that sent him to Penn University Hospital enpmergency from a severe kidney punch and caused serious internal bleeding and that has the complete names addresses filed on record of the assault.
