Ex-JW here...I spent most of my life seeking the truth. It wasn't until the JW's were out of my life that I was open to the truth of the Gospel. Now I'm a born again, blood-bought child of the Most High, saved by grace through faith in Jesus' finished work on the cross! Praise God!! Thank you for this video and for your non-judgemental attitude towards the lost believers in JW doctrine. As you stated most of them are truly seeking but mislead by the doctrine of those who are supposed to be teaching us the truth. While I very much believe that it's possible to be saved out of the JW's it's unlikely to be saved in the JW's. JW's is truly a cult as they threaten the loss of your family if you leave a threat, by the way, that they are more than happy to keep.

Very true. Many JWs didn't know their organisation relegates Christ to the status of angel. Most JWs are also ignorant of their organisations early history, publications and beliefs. There is a reason for this. JWs are discouraged from if not forbidden to make independent examination of these things. JWs will try to argue that Mighty God is not Almighty God yet the page over from that scripture in Isaiah the Mighty God is mentioned as one whom a remnant from Babylon shall return. Which Mighty God is that!

  • @WendieRenee
    @WendieRenee Před rokem +6

No Corey didn't slam that door, lol.
I had opportunity to witness to JW (who thought she was witnessing to me) as we went through the bible together to discuss key points surrounding salvation and obedience. I began to discover a pattern that the JW woman literally had a blindness regarding scriptures' that illuminated how God's grace inspires, empowers, corrects, convicts, and sustains the sustain believer. I would purposely choose scriptures that more clearly showed the interaction between grace as it works in faith and obedience, but she couldn't see it (without my guidance) and would only focus on the works of the believer. That's when I realized that the Holy Spirit was aiding me in understanding that I needed to focus more on GRACE when witnessing to a JW rather than always trying to argue key Gospel truths such as "Jesus is God". They are used to those arguments in defending their faith so they have many scripted responses. Because JW is a works based religion, I got how God was leading me in this particular witness.
This grace-based method of approach garnered a breakthrough because the woman was at a lost for (scripted) words and could not refute what I was showing her as the difference between her understanding of how one receives and "maintains" salvation and what scripture (even within her own doctored translation) clearly reveals. She eventually did the usual thing JWs do when they must think independently . . . she stated that she would need to do some more research and would get back with me. Of course she didn't, but I have always hoped that the Holy Spirit continued to spiritually open her eyes.
    ISAIAH 55:8-11
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
    And do not return there,
    But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
    And bread to the eater,
    So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it
Yes, JWs must eventually fully understand who Jesus is and why only He is able to save us. But we don't always have to start there. Our planting and/or watering seeds of truth concerning God's grace is also how the Holy Spirit can begin to draw and illuminate those deceived by a works based religion.

I was told that he just wanted to debate and to not get into conversation with him. I surmise now that the man most likely knew the Bible more than the witnesses and that was their way or avoiding engaging with him. Witnesses only want to start Bible studies with their literature to make another money giving witness to the governing body. There's no real interest in having a real Bible conversation because they are not taught to do that.

If some of you on here don’t know who Ignatius is he was a student of John the apostle along with a man by the name of polycarp. Now this is Ignatius speaking listen to him very carefully.
    IGNATIUS [A.D. 30-107]
Ignatius is one of the earliest church fathers whose writings have been preserved. His correspondence has a genuinely pastoral, New Testament epistle-type flavor since the bulk of his extant writings are specifically addressed to churches in a manner similar to Paul. Quotations from Paul’s epistles in the New Testament comprise more of his writing than his own thoughts on almost any given subject. He viewed the Father as “the one true God.” In the same vein, he also stated that whoever “declares that there is but one God, only so as to take away the divinity of Christ, is a devil.”
In his Epistle to the Magnesians, Ignatius briefly references a view of the Godhead, perhaps even within the time of the writing of the New Testament.
“Study, therefore, to be established in the doctrines of the Lord and the apostles, that so all things, whatsoever ye do, may prosper both in the flesh and spirit; in faith and love; in the Son, and in the Father, and in the Spirit. . . . Be ye subject to the bishop, and to one another, as Jesus Christ to the Father, according to the flesh, and the apostles to Christ, and to the Father, and to the Spirit.”
While not directly expounding on the specific relationship between the three persons of the Godhead, it is obvious that Ignatius intended to communicate that their unique roles were distinct and equally important in the lives of believers. With such a pastoral flavor, Ignatius did not seem to delineate a specific doctrinal position. Rather, he focused on integrating God into life on the practical level, so that no aspect of the Godhead was ignored or neglected. Obviously, the church understood early on that there were inseparable elements which bound the Father, Son, and Spirit together as unity, or as a unit, while still distinguishing them as individuals. Yet, Ignatius notes that Christ submitted Himself to the Father willingly, just as Christians should to those who have been given authority over them.
By examining all the epistles Ignatius wrote to the different churches, small pieces of his broader theology emerge. Ignatius clearly notes the importance of the Father, Son, and Spirit, but he also details that Christ was completely God: “To the church . . . elected through the true passion by the will of the Father, and Jesus Christ our God.” “For our God, Jesus Christ was, according to appointment of God conceived in the womb of Mary . . . God Himself being manifested in human form for the renewal of eternal life.” Christ’s deity is seen early on in the church and is a key element around which many heresies arise due to misinterpretation or misunderstanding.
stones of the temple of the Father, prepared for the building of God the Father, and drawn up on high by the instrument of Jesus Christ, which is the cross, making use of the Holy Spirit as a rope, while your faith was the means by which you ascended.
Here the three persons are intricately woven together, and yet distinctly recognized, as Ignatius notes that “there are not then either three Fathers, or three Sons, or three Paracletes, but one Father, and one Son, and one Paraclete . . . into three possessed of equal honor.” While this is not formed in the same organized manner found in later creeds, Ignatius clearly places an emphasis on the Father and the Son, and does not neglect the role of the Spirit.
Clement Ave Alexandria said this about who Jesus is But our Instructor is the holy God Jesus, the Word, who is the guide of all humanity. The loving God Himself is our Instructor.
Now, O you, my children, our Instructor is like His Father God, whose son He is, sinless, blameless, and with a soul devoid of passion; God in the form of man, stainless, the minister of His Father’s will, the Word who is God, who is in the Father, who is at the Father’s right hand, and with the form of God is God.”2
So the Word is God but is also distinct from the Father. He then goes on later to say this
The holy and loving God, Jesus, is the God who provided for the people in the wilderness. He is the God who brought them out of Egypt and who made the covenant with Abraham. According to Clement, Jesus is none other than Jehovah God. Though Jesus is distinct from the Father, we are not talking about two Gods but one. Note that he said, “The Lord alone led them, and there was no strange god among them.” The only true God is both the Father and the Son.Clement thus argues here that Jesus Christ is the divine Word. He explains that this Word was not only there in the beginning, but before the beginning! He is thus rather explicit that the Word is eternal. The Word is also described as being the Creator of all things, and is plainly called God, though He is also described as being “in God” and “with God,” thus again avoiding the idea that the Word exhausts all that God is. He explains that when the Word came to us as Jesus Christ, He was both God and Man. He returns to this again later in the book, declaring:
“Assuming the character of man, and fashioning Himself in flesh, He enacted the drama of human salvation: for He was a true champion and a fellow champion with the creature. And being communicated most speedily to men, having dawned from His Father’s counsel quicker than the sun, with the most perfect ease He made God shine on us. Whence He was and what He was, He showed by what He taught and exhibited, manifesting Himself as the Herald of the Covenant, the Reconciler, our Savior, the Word, the Fount of life, the Giver of peace, diffused over the whole face of the earth; by whom, so to speak, the universe has already become an ocean of blessings.”6
By “assuming the character of a man and fashioning Himself in flesh,” the Word became a man to bring about our salvation. The Word is a champion with the creature. The uncreated enters into creation and comes alongside the created being to save him. He did not cease to be God, but rather He “made God to shine on us.” How? “Whence He was and what He was He showed by what He taught and exhibited.” The Word revealed God because the Word is God. As Clement also wrote in “The Instructor,” Chapter 3:
“The Lord ministers all good and all help, both as Man and as God.”7
This is the biblical doctrine of the deity of Christ and the incarnation, which the Watchtower was mistakenly (or deceitfully) hoping to wield Clement’s words to deny. Clement of Alexandria is instead just another one of the many examples of early Christians who believed and wrote about these biblical truths in the earliest period of Christian history. It also shows the Watchtower writers once again to be either incompetent or duplicitous in their handling of this subject matter.

I hear you brother and you are correct. I have friends that are Jehovah's witnesses. Even though you are correct, your questions for them only works for people who really want to know the truth and are willing to change if their beliefs don't match the truth. Even if I reasoned like you did with them. They still will dance around it. Because ultimately, they are not looking for the ultimate truth, they are looking to defend their position no matter how much they have to rationalize and dance around my questions. It's kind of the same thing with people in politics. Personally, I don't support either republican or democratic candidates because I see them both as corrupt, but that's besides the point I want to make. The point in this instance is that weather people support their "republican" or "democratic" candidate, no matter what evidence you point to that their candidate is lying and untrustworthy, they won't hear it and they will go out of their way to justify it even if I point out absolute evidence their candidate has lied.

Here is John 14:8-9: 8 Philip said to him: “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Question: Who is "the Father"? What/Who is being referred to by that phrase?
Obvious Answer: God Himself. Considering the context of who and what Philip is - a Jew - There is no other honest way to understand the phrase in Philip's request. This is not refutable.
Jesus, knowing full well who and what Philip is and the only possible meaning to his request, straightforwardly tells Philip, "If you've seen Me, you've seen Him. If you've seen me, you've seen God Himself." There is no other honest way to take that answer.
Jesus Christ openly declares that seeing Him = Seeing God Himself.
JWs say that Jesus is Michael the archangel. No, that doesn't work, and it doesn't work BIG TIME. Here's why that's true:
Michael's name means "Who Is Like God?"
      Obvious answer: NO ONE.
There is NO way that Michael would have made the claim for himself that Jesus makes in verse 9. He would have been...
      a) going directly against the meaning of his own name, and
      b) committing blasphemy.
Add to this the fact that there is no verse in the Bible that states that Jesus is really Michael.
Add to this the fact that the Father openly and directly calls the Son “God” in Heb. 1:8

More being apart of the PIMO (physically in mentally out) community theses are the things that wake up the majority. Using the org own words against them using the WT magazines and books, past and current. Teaching them is much different than simply teaching someone from the Bible who isn't in a cult, a normal person. And the next ad hominem, "a snake oil sales man". Miracle wheat was paramount to a churches bake sale. Russell did not name it nor did it have anything to do with his ministry, or efforts to understand the truth.
    These tactics are dishonest.

I would say it’s close to impossible for somebody born in the religion to have a saving faith in Jesus simply because they think that Jesus is micheal the archangel etc, a Jesus that can’t save. I could comprehend somebody getting saved outside of the religion and then getting swept in before the realize it isn’t really Christian, but they would be staying long if that’s the case. They make their doctrine known QUICK. You have to study a book with a teacher entitled what the Bible really teaches before you get baptized. In my 22 years as a JW, knowing what I know now after being saved by Jesus Christ ALONE, I never knew somebody in the religion who had a saving faith or a real understanding of sin, or who Jesus is. God bless!

How does the Word was God. Particularly imply Jesus? Also In the begining was the Word. What I think and I could be wrong is the Word was being Spoken. As Genesis 1:1 says- In the Begining God created the Heavens and the Earth. He spoke these things into Existence and I would think it would be what they say, God is really like He causes to Become. Name meaning such that goes well with Genesis 1:1, don't you think?

    • @tongakhan230
      @tongakhan230 Před 2 lety

The context is about one of God's angelic sons becoming a human. That is why John 1:1 says this angel (Word) was WITH God. No one can be WITH someone and also be that someone.
Wikipedia QUOTES many translations which word it properly. 'And the Word was a god'. Meaning a mighty being. An angel.
By implying that the Word was God, unknowingly the Trintarians have shot themselves in the foot.
WAS is the past tense of IS. It still shows that the Jesus who walked this earth WASN'T God. Not while he was on earth, though.
Philippians 2:7 No, but he EMPTIED HIMSELF (of his Spirit form) and took a slave’s form and BECAME HUMAN.
