This DIY all natural whipped body butter is perfect for dry skin in the cooler months.
I never notice a need for moisturizer throughout the rest of the year. In the winter, when the wood stove is burning, and I'm taking long hot baths, my skin gets so dry. This body butter goes on smooth and is so nourishing for the skin.
Anything that you put on your skin can absorb right into your body. That is why I love making my own DIY body butter. All the ingredients are pure enough to eat. We really shouldn't put anything in our bodies that we wouldn't put in our mouths.
For this recipe you only need one part each of four basic ingredients: shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and olive oil. I also add in essential oils for scent and there amazing health properties.
Cocoa butter has the most delicious chocolate smell. It pairs well with lavender essential oil or wild orange. The smell is amazing!
    A note on the ingredients:
When I first started making my own personal care and household products I worried I would never use up all the ingredients. Now I know the same basic ingredients can be used to make so many things!
You can modify this recipe just slightly to make homemade diaper cream and sunscreen. Just add non-nano zinc oxide.
Beeswax can be used to make hand poured candles and DIY lip balm. Get another variation of my DIY All Natural Lavender Cocoa Sunscreen HERE: farmhouseonboone.com/farmhous...
I also use cocoa butter to make Homemade Superfood Chocolate. farmhouseonboone.com/farmhous...
If you invest in these basic ingredients, they will be put to good use!
DIY all natural whipped body butter Ingredients

    1/2 cup shea butter
40 drops of essential oil (optional)

I LOVE Channel! And I’ll say this often times I binge watching it and the other day it turned off everything and I said to myself with my kids and I on the porch during summer, look we have our own beauty to enjoy as well. It’s important to realize that we mustn’t chase someone else’s environment when we have our very own. Don’t take that the wrong way I just realized I have greatness in my own home to like you do and I’m happy for that I love your channel and all that you do

Thank you for sharing this! I love it! I used a stand mixer and it seemed like really thick frosting after whipping for awhile. I put it in glass jars in a dry closet and they kind of hardened a bit...at room temp. Have you had this happen? Do I need to whip it for longer or maybe it was in the freezer too long? Wondering how to do it better next time. Even with the consistency not being awesome, I am using it...it is awesome as a diaper rash cream(gone by the next diaper change), and has helped even to make scratches on my young boys heal quicker!

i made your body butter tonight with a couple of modifications. I subed Jojoba Oil for the Olive Oil and added about 1 TBS of corn starch toward the end. I love the feel, nice and silky but didn't realize how overwhelming the smell of the Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter would be. I added several drops of Neroli eo and Lavender eo. I'll probably go through this very quickly. Do you have any RECOMMENDATIONS for which essential oils would work nicely with the two butters?

  • @paulandmelissacunningham1948

Loved this video! Just curious -- do you have any nice smelling essential oil combinations one could use as an addition to this recipe? I love the idea of essential oils, but I'm not a fan of lavender or citrus scents alone and I'm not educated in essential oils enough to know how to make say a "fresh laundry" or "warm vanilla" or other nice neutral type of scent with an oil mix.

I'm not sure about fresh laundry scent. I will have to experiment around with that. As far as vanilla, you could add 100% pure vanilla extract!

Oh my Lisa I felt like a bozo you were still pregnant in your last video and here too! I hope you and baby are doing well I love this and the candles! Everything you do is just perfect. Would I be able to do this with a hand mixer I do not have a big machine like yours. I'm still living in the Stone Age with my hand mixer I purchased when I was 17working for K-Mart lol .... Imagine that I'm 56 now lol that was a long time ago.

I honestly think a hand mixer would be even better. Less mess! I just don't have one. I just bought an immersion blender yesterday. I want to see if that would do the trick. I think I am confusing people putting out these videos I shot last week! 😉 I only have a few more left!

Hi Lisa! I would like to add some aloe vera gel to make more of an after sun lotion. How much do you think I could add, lets say if I'm making 1/4 c of each of your ingredients? Or do you have a recipe of an after sun lotion or spray? Thank you!

Hi I am new to your channel, Love it by the way i have a question on how long does the body butter stay good for i have always heard that you have to use home made lotion and such so they don't go rancid and do you need to use a preservative although i have very very dry skin so i am going to be trying this recipe for sure. Thank you for sharing.

Sandy Rocheleau I would say it lasts at least a couple years. I made up a big batch a few years ago and we are still using some of it. I don’t know if that’s the official correct answer, but that’s what we do! 😉

I don't think you will be able to get it to incorporate and make a soft body butter without whipping it...

Lisa, was wondering if you could add vanilla to this? I love vanilla scented lotions but my skin is too sensitive and josie marins whipped argan oil body butter is too expensive.

Thanks for this video. I feel like this is something I can make super easy before Christmas. Question, how much zinc oxide would I need for one of those pint size jars to make the diaper cream?

    • @FarmhouseonBoone
      @FarmhouseonBoone  Před 6 lety

I just use this sunscreen recipe for diaper cream. I do want to point out that the zinc oxide isn't really cloth diaper safe, so I will switch to disposables for a few days if baby has a rash.

Nice! And I didn't know that about Frankincense and scars. I use it for other stuff but didn't know about the scars. I may try and make some of this with Frankincense for my son who has a nasty scar on his knee.
