But it’s an eye opening first amendment issue. Speech is so free, words no longer have value for us to even put up a fight. Every truth and every lie resonates with somebody who is waiting and determined to hear it in between what’s being said and society via media sets it’s minimum morality standards. George Santos happens, when overreaches are not held accountable for long enough that it appears it’s always been that way and suddenly, you have video evidence that is not enough to hold these power thieves to account. They all have secrets and they trade it amongst themselves for favors. I’m not a cynic, I’m a skeptic

It is NOT a case of being able to say whatever you want. This is especially true of lies, slander, and yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.
The First Amendment, like all of the other amendments, is all about government limitation.
Because of government limitations of the First Amendment, I can say things like "Donald Trump Sucks" or "Joe Biden Sucks," without the fear of police at my door ready to arrest me for speaking poorly of the government.
The First Amendment DOES NOT protect liars. And ALL speech still comes with consequences.

Santos had to come along to show everyone what the Republicans are all about. Republicans in Congress are perfectly OK with Santos. They know they can do or say literally anything they want, and Santos getting elected is the logical outcome. You got what you asked for Repubs.

Although the local GOP spoke before the press some time ago. they did not really take responsibility for the piss poor job of vetting him, nor did they present a new vetting program to be used in the future. If I were a voter in that community, I'd be furious and consider voting all of them out.

We've all probably known someone like George Santos at some point in their lives - the guy who exaggerates, embellishes, tells tall tales, and just flat-out makes stuff up because they're desperate to impress others, fit in, and belong. Usually we know them as children in school, and they eventually abandon such childish lying as they mature and grow up. But the ones who don't grow out of that impulse to lie become pathological and just can't stop.

Poor Georgie, he’s the best bullshitter ever and a figment of his own imagination. He needs help, because one day he’s going to snap and it will not be pretty, someone is going to get hurt. He should leave politics, take a long siesta and move to Hollywood. Open his own acting studio and get into movies. Definitely has the credentials and is seasoned enough to play any character.
My understanding is that 100,000 people who voted in 2020 in that district didn't bother to show up or to vote by mail in 2022. They got the Congressman they deserved.

To make a long story short, she said her 10 year old sister had just passed away from cancer and there was no one at home to pick her up from school. Everyone was at the hospital.

Something good must come out of this surreal, comical situation that is George Santos. Some kind of legal mechanism must be in placed in order to prevent this situation from ever happening again. Clearly Santos is a sick conman and the fact that congress only can expel him with the approval of a single person (I am speaking to you McCarthy!) and then, the vote of 2/3 of fellow congresspeople is just mind-boggling. Meanwhile he is getting paid handsomely by us taxpayers! Just wow!
