The 2002 BMW R1150R is what I ride and it is a great bike. I have not found a better bike and I have checked out all the new models every year.

My regular ride is a R1150 GSA Adventure. I had one of these as a loaner bike while my GD was being serviced. Loved it!

Switch gear is highly intuitive and very easy to use. Have a 2004 R1150R, which is my 15th BMW,14th Boxer, and 12th Oilhead. all good for some 500K miles...Ride to Camp, Camp to Ride...

I have a 2000 R1100R, I added a Tuner, got a good exhaust eliminating the cat converter and she's a joy to ride now. The front suspension set up stops front end dive when you use the front brake. It takes a bit of getting used to. It has enough brakes in front to stop an 18 wheeler. Two discs and 8 pistons worth of stopping. All in all a very nice bike to own.

R1100R is a better bike than the 1150.
      1) the extra 50 cc not needed.
      2) no transmission spline problem
      3) no hydraulic clutch to leak
      4) adjustable seat
      5) nicer handlebars

I have a r1100r. Love it. The ride and turn are so easily handle. I won't regret buying this bike.

BMW absolutely hit the sweet spot with this model, will be an iconic classic.
Really, it's a lower riding and lighter GS without the silly price....even has the same higher bhp 1150 engine as the GS.

A proper classy BMW. You just have to love it. Those who don't are simply not in the game. :)

    6) a 5th gear transmission is better because it means less shifting.

If a watertight service history is included, then yes.
