There are some shows which last the test of time and you can enjoy after years of having being left to memory, and one of the most impactful was the '97 X Men cartoon. This was on of the first TV shows I ever watched as a kid and obsessively followed every episode, even into the Spider Man show crossover which was equally as nostalgic. Now we dig up the grave of the X Men to revive them in fresh new paint for a new generation. Will it hold up as well as the original? WILL WE SEE SPIDERMAN?? We shall see soon!!

As an older person, this is why it bothers me so much that the Avengers had the spotlight for the last 15 years. I know it's all Marvel had to work with after the bankruptcy, but this episode shows you that when you do right by the X-Men, there isn't another superhero team that compares to the kind of action, drama and stakes that their stories provide.
Facts. The other thing that irks me is when newbies are so surprised when I tell them the x-men and spider-man was the lifeblood of the company back in the day. I have to tell them that everyone you've seen before spider-man were b and c-list players.
Well, the kind, maybe. But honestly, while the X-Men are great when they're great, I much prefer heroes who have a greater tendency to be both heroic and successful in that biz and your B and C list insults are actually why I'm glad the X-Men have taken a back seat in the recent past, the other reason being the tired thing they did where they made the X-Men Wolverine and his Amazing Friends.
@@VunderGuy I didn't insult any of them. But your issue is actually an example of why I'm glad the X-Men are taking the spotlight. You just said they made the X-Men Wolverine and his amazing friends. Marvel didn't do that. Fox did. And now Marvel has them back.
There's so many people out there who only have those 2000s movies as their frame of reference for the X-Men. That era should largely be ignored as Fox didn't know what they were doing. If you have been watching X-Men 97, you'll see that Wolverine has not been in the spotlight. It's far more balanced with many characters getting their time to shine.
Well, yeah, but let's not kid ourselves here: the real primary secret sauce to X-Men TAS and thus the insane loyalty X-Men 97 has to that it not only doesn't do what Fox did in turning the team into Wolverine and his meat shields, it also actually makes the X-Men far more heroic and successful at the job while also cramming in a lot of the interpersonal stuff in a way that feels natural and earned. All I'm saying is that I really hope they don't do that thing where the tagline, 'Fighting to save a world that (rightfully) hates and fears them' is more apt like in the comics. We can only hope at this moment Krakoa gets nuked by a massive ret-con at this point.

This episode puts you through the emotional wringer for sure. The pacing it outrageous. They have multiple story elements from decades all going on at the same time.

I'm hoping Magneto is still alive and just went underground with the Morlocks while pulling metal over them as they went deeper. But that last fuckin line, crushed me. The tears flowed lol.

the alien, loki, who is thor's adopted brother, had created it during the "acts of vengeance" campaign, against spider-man.
so for this cartoon, either it was from an alt. future or someone like apocalypse created it, to start a final war btwn mutants & humans.
this would explain cable & the watcher's veiled appearance in this episode.
