So I've been bass fishing for 40 years. Im from South Florida so you can imagine i do a lot of frogging and flipping. I have owned at least a hundred reels over the years and I settled on Abu Garcia reels years ago and when they were round and weighed almost a pound. Now I own several revos and I like them a lot and have been using them for years. Then a friend told me about Kastking reels and i was scepticle but I bought a few royal legend elite reels and put them to the test especially the one on my frog rod. In 2 seasons I have caught hundreds of fish on these reels with no hiccups and have landed three over 9lbs on the frog rod. It has performed flawlessly even fishing 50lb braid and pulling bass out of heavy cover. My overall impression is they are a quality product, but at these prices if you get 2 seasons out of it and she breaks down on you, scrap it for parts and get a new one. Tight lines kid!

I have the Royal Legend Elite, Spartacus Plus, and the Assassin for quite a while. I have learned that braid works really well. Also, using anything less than 12lb test line will result in more birds nest issues. Lubing the reels right out of the box improved the functionality as well. Overall I am extremely pleased with all of my reels.

I am not going to talk about spinning reels but I'm a baitcaster guy . I have a special rod I purchased 52 years ago . For many years it was topped with a Abu Garcia ambassador . No problems . I replaced it with a Kastking Royale legend GT because it has more line capacity . I really like it . Later , I purchased another rod . I wanted to try the Mega jaws but I got another Royale legend GT because I new that they were great I just purchased a Kastking Rekon 20 for my Musky rod . These Kastking reels are the smoothest best working reels I have found . The cheap price is only a bonus . All are filled with kastking super power # 65 8 strand braid and have been fantastic .

A KastKing Speed Demon costs approximately $69.00 on ebay. Compared to a Shimano at $350.00 I would say it is a pretty good Reel! I have owned a Speed Demon for over 2 years now and it is still as good as the day I bought it. My wife surprised me today with the new KastKing Speed Demon Elite , 10.5.1 She also got me a new Kastking Rod with it. I damn sure have the best wife a guy could ask for. I am looking forward to my first cast tomorrow morning!

    This is wordy, sorry.
I appreciate the review, thanks for the work. I think sometimes people can get a bad one or two. I have a few of these speed demons and only one is giving me any trouble so far. I got snagged and tried to pull it out from the rocks and now it sounds rough. At first, the trigger did not want to snap back after casting but that was freed up after forcing it up. That sounds scary, yes. I still pulled in a couple of bass with it later on in the day. They were not the biggest bass for sure but they were able to be brought in with no issue. I am going to pull it apart and see if there are any signs of wear from me pulling the bait out of the rocks. I am a bigger person and I can pull pretty hard. On that thought, I did break a rod in half setting the hook on another snag earlier this summer. We all get a little gung-ho sometimes, yes? I had been battling a large fish on an ultra-light and it broke my line so I pulled this out to try to catch the same fish but all I got was a stump. This might have happened to a pricier reel also, I can't say because I don't really have the money to have enough to get them all snagged and risk losing all that money.
I bought the Kastking brand because I had the need to get a few different types of rod/reel combos going so I don't have to tie on different baits all the time. I am not rich so I can't spend $100-$300 per reel for 8-10 different rigs. We all need to be wise in our spending so we get what we think will be good enough. So far I have been happy with them for the most part. This includes speed demons that I scored for less than half price from their original price. I took advantage of a special coupon on Amazon. I also have a couple speed demon pros, and one crixus reel. I did have to return one spartacus maximus as it had poor gearing, couldn't even reel it in or cast it. No. It was not the reel that was on the rod I broke in half. That was actually a spinning rod.

My experience with Kastking is that for the money, you can't go wrong with their products. However, I have noticed that rod selection is definitely key when using their bait casting reels. Is there better quality gear out there? Sure there is but you're going to pay much more. For someone on a budget, Kastking products will do it all. I have 2 KastKing Combos and a 5000 size spinning reel for my surf rod. The Crixus casting combo has lasted 3 seasons, and I have enjoyed it so far. The Crixus spinning combo has also been great. I use it for both bass and for fluke fishing in salt water and the salt definitely affects the reel, but i also havent cleaned or lubed it in 3 years. The 5000 megatron has pulled in striped bass, bluefish, and a few 65+ sting rays in the surf no problem. Its on its second season, and i think its last. I will probably replace it after this year, but for $60 im super happy with it.

Everything I've bought from KK has been exception except for the portable line spoiler. I have the Bassinator Elite, Speed Demon Elite, and the Megajaws Elite. No issues with backlash if you tune them properly. My only complaint with KK is their manuals or documentation which is out of date and they don't provide any shipping info unless you email their customer service. And I've found their customer service exceptional which you don't even discuss.

Good video with an honest opinion. The people that are offended are going to all be fan boys. Manufacturers will never get better if everyone constantly says everything is great with no real criticism. The speed demon imo is a great deal that feels the huge gap between its price point and the revo rocket. I own several speed demon reels and they are always on my boat. As far as reels under the $100 price point, I fish the Shimano SLX and Daiwa Fuego. The Fuego can be had for $75 on amazon and is an absolute steal for that. I feel KastKing develops great reels for weekend warriors and people on a tight budget. I dont think you can buy a better reel under 50 bucks than the new Royal Legend 2. Just my .02 keep up the vids.

Penn needs to start making a lighter imperial for baitcasting. Coming from saltwater to fresh recently I have only owned a black max and a new crixus yesterday. The black max was to try out baitcasters. Worked fine for about 5 uses then the drag failed. Honestly the crixus feels the same. I hope it lasts with no problem but if this fails before 2 or 3 years it's going to be even harder to talk myself into a 3 or 4 hundred dollar set up thinking that will be better. In my opinion....Penn is the only company that makes a real reel lol. Still have Penn reels in perfect working order over 20yrs old with only saltwater use. Still trying baitcasters...but I bought a Penn battle 3 just in case.👍👍👍✌️

Just because the name on the product is not Shimano, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, etc... does not mean it's junk.. If the Black Max had a KastKing or Piscifun logo on it nobody would be recommending it.. I own rods and reels from just about every major manufacturer and I have had my eye on Kastking for a while. They are the new kids in town and I gave them some time to get it together and build their brand and then decided to buy a couple a to try out. I was pleasantly surprised. I purchased 2 Kastking MegaJaws and put them on two 29 dollar Lew's Laser HS Speed Stick rods from Wal-Mart. I had budget combo in mind all the way.. 60 dollar reel with a 30 dollar rod.. At the same time I also had gotten a Abu Revo SX and paired it with a St. Croix Bass X rod. I took all 3 combos out to break them in on the same day. That was about 4 months ago and honestly I am still struggling to find where the difference is in the price of the combos. I actually think that the Kastking may be a hair smoother. The St. Croix rod does have more sensitivity, but I still don't know whether its a 100 dollar difference. Wal-Mart and Lew's currently have something going on and Wal-Mart carries a couple of Wal-Mart exclusive Lew's rod's that are incredible for costing less than 50 bucks. There is a 200 dollar difference between the Abu/St. Croix and Kastking/Lew's combo and I would dare anyone to justify that much of a difference after using them.. After catching several fish on the KastKings I have been so impressed with the performance for price that I have purchased an additional 5 more of their reels including two of their BFS reels. I can honestly say that I am shocked with the value and performance of the Kastking product and how these 80 dollar combos fish vs. one that cost over twice as much. I am sure a lot of the Japanese reel shills will accuse me of being one for Kastking, but I am not and know I own more Japanese company branded reels than I do Kastking.. I will continue to purchase and fish with all the brands that I currently own and I also plan on checking out some new ones.. I apologize in advance for this being a long winded comment, but I felt it was necessary to give a more current and better perspective on this topic being this video is almost a year old.

You are spot on with your overview of Kastking reels. I have owned the Speed Demon and the Spartacus Plus..... both got the job done, but as you pointed out, not very smooth or durable as I though they should be. The Speed Demon was my 2nd one, as the the 1st one I had to return, and I really wanted to like the reel. But in the end, after the drag failed me being fully tighten down, I had no choice but to shelf the reel. The Spartacus, has also been put on the shelf, as it seemed I have to do alot more maintenance on that particular reel, then my other reels (Lew's, Johnny Morris, Shimano).
So from that, I still have hopes for the lineup, I hope they continental to improve, as I still keep tabs on their new products, but as of now, I can't seem to convince myself to purchasing another Kastking reel at this time.
As you pointed out, they are budget friendly, with alot of features, but I do think there are other options out there in the price ranges.
That's just my experience. I know alot of people love their Kastking equipment, and more power to them, I hope it continues to serve them well. My experience was not horrible, but it also was good enough for me to continue using the product line.

So funny how us fisherman are so brand loyal which im guilty of being towards Lews for decades. I think Abu Garcia and definitely Shimano are most overpriced but Kastking has shocked me over the past few years. Even their rods are lifetime warranties, durable and lightweight. Never forget how many ppl out there giving reviews think they know how to properly cast or use baitcasting gear but honestly don't. I was one 4 several years but the first issue with any brand I've ever bought in reels is to as soon as u get the reel, disassemble & clean, lube, and grease properly no matter the brand or price. I seen many videos of people praising the kast king reels especially the mega jaws with the dual anti backlash system but to hear you one would think that these reels are junk. The way you talk about the durability sounds more like someone that angry with the company for some reason. Maybe they refused to sponsor you or something. You judge durability one owning a reel for a few months and the paint is flaking. Most of the reels i own arent even broke in good in a couple months. As for the paint flaking well if the paint is what you are concerned with then maybe you should buy the really high priced reels. You know buy the name.
