There are black-owned makeup companies that offer the shades we want and need. We should take our money and buy from them instead.

Yes🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This....
Exactly what I was saying.
Go where your celebrated not tolerated ❤
For those that don’t understand, this is the equivalent to making a shade the color of Elmer’s glue, and saying “hey, we have something for those with the most pale skin in the world”. Even those with really pale skin have an undertone. No one is PURE WHITE, just like no one is PURE BLACK.
According to most of the comments...most people understand.
@@buttarain27 that’s surprising tbh. I usually run into a shit ton of comments calling people ridiculous and saying they’re overreacting
I am white as paper, but I do not demand companies to cater to me, because I know I am a minority. There's too much productiin waste for a single added shade, our planet won't survive the overconsumption and overproduction! I simply buy white mixers to lighten my foundations! Even Korean or Japanese foundations are too dark!
I think most people get that. However, there are people as white as Elmer's glue and as black as pitch. There have been models, and I've occasionally seen people in real life. It's just not common, especially in America. Most people have an undertone and aren't at the extreme of the color spectrum. I get the outrage people have about this product. It doesn't really help anyone, and it shows that this business owner isn't too savvy and possibly doesn't want people with darker skin using her products.
@@emem2863
Not most, ALL skin has an undertone…
No one is just one color/pigment. It may look that way, but it’s not biologically/naturally possible.
They said Oh you want black I'll give you black
There was a time when we were told that "Black is beautiful." 😆
@nghtwtchmn129 sure, in recent time. Black has always been associated with bad or ugly. Reaffirming that fact was the basis of colonization by the British and why skin bleaching continues to be a problem in places like India. Let's please act as though we know factual history.
Black people are never happy with anything sns

How dark do you want it?
Answer..yes😅😅

I am a pale white woman. A foundation of pure white pigment would never work for me, just as a shade of pure black pigment won’t work for dark skin tones. The company uses other pigments to create warm, cool, and neutral undertones in every other shade other than the one in question. Why?
To give Black people the middle finger. There is no way, a company which is making fondation wouldn't know human skin shades, even if they don't sell all shade.
❤
Well said CoffeePlease ❤
Exactly
You do realize there’s White foundation. It can be used as is, or mixed with another foundation to make it lighter. So this is the same concept for those with darker skin. If it’s ok to make it for whites, then it should be ok to make it for blacks.
I disagree with the narrator. This shade would NOT work for anyone. No one's skin is in pure black. We all have undertones. Black women should take their money elsewhere.
I am so glad that you said this. What she said was misleading.
Exactly
Plain and simple ❤❤
You don't know who it can fit. Stop causing problems. This is the reason why it's in the news unnecessary commotion.
@pr1.8ijmk it fits no one because no black person actually has black skin. It's different shades of brown. That makeup was pure black.
All Im gonna say is If Rihanna(Fenty Beauty), Gaga (Haus Labs) , Selena (Rare Beauty) and Urban Decay can come out with Shades for the Dark Skin People then there is no excuse... Undertone matters.

A shame that all Youthphoria was obviously thinking about were profits. Looks like shoe polish. This insulting mess of a shade should be taken off the store shelves.
I agree! It looks as if the influencer was putting black shoe polish on her face. Very insulting.
It looks like it was done on purpose to get their name out.
On the contrary, it seems they weren't thinking about profits at all. The best way to profits is by providing value to the people you serve. No value, no people, no profits.
Thank you for acknowledging Javon Ford’s expertise as a cosmetic chemist.
He’s the best, scientifically proving that their shade was straight up black

Most people calling them out do support black or poc owned brands this was a poc owned brand but in order for real change to come about sometimes ya gotta speak up
EXACTLY!!! I really don't understand black people who DEMAND companies to cater to them. Just boycott the brands that don't and purchase from those who value you. My god, how hard is that?? I'm white as paper and can't even find my shade in Korean brands, I simply buy white mixers. I don't demand to be included in the shade range because I know my color is not the majority and production waste is a crime to the planet. Stop giving these companies power over you.
Why beg a brand to include our shades when there are Black-owned makeup brands to purchase from (Fashion Fair, Danessa Myricks, Rihanna's Fenty brand, etc.). When will we learn to spend our money where it counts, and is appreciated.
I agree. Why are we so hell bent on making EVERY company cater to our shades when there are tons of black owned make up brands that do? Why are we hell bent on giving our money to others instead of focusing on supporting our own? I just don't get this obsession...

There are black people out there. We call ourselves black but most of us are brown. It's the smaller handful in certain places who are black. No other word for it. Actually there is pure white foundation. It can be used as is or mixed with another foundation to make it lighter. This gives those with darker skin, the same options whites have had, to now change the shade of their foundation darker. Black is Beautiful

Fenty beauty,Fashion Fair,Black Radiance, Black opal, have a range of colors for people of color. Including the darker shades.
The girl who made the makeup definitely is biased. Why did she go to men to find a color shade. I would’ve brought the og girl in who didn’t find her shade to perfect the color so she had a perfect product. Eh there are better brands out there anyways
She couldn’t even test the product before launching. She literally said, well this is black enough I guess. She went to a different country to find a match & still didnt. Why is this news? Is there a law I missed that says we have to buy our makeup from Asians? I had never heard of Youth Foria before now, and I regret clicking. MAC, Fenty, Makeup Forever, Black Opal, Bobbi Brown and literally tens of other brands provide makeup for us. People need to grow up!
It’s news because of how outright disrespectful this is. No brand has done something so clueless and out of touch. A creator was sent their original “darkest shade” which was indeed nowhere near as dark as it could’ve been. So the brand “extended”their range and the darkest shade was a literal black foundation. The only pigment in the ingredients list was black. Not a single person on this earth is pure black but the creator was convinced to prove otherwise instead of admitting that she royally fucked up.
The fact that this even made it into production is puzzling, this company will never get a penny from me.
Do I remember it right, the first time they were called out, their “darkest shade” was different on their site vs the bottle? 😅
I think the bigger issue is the CEO tried to placate the public with promises of inclusivity and the. they come up with that. It’s not like there’s no brand in the market they can benchmark with.
It’s also so funny that she tried to find models that fit the shade, like girl, isn’t it the other way round? You should have had the model that you based the shade on.
So here’s my thought. There must be some black beauty chemists out there who could put together the perfect color foundations for black men and women. My granddaughter is 16 and black. I’ve been shopping with her for foundation and have only been able to get sort of close matches. It’s frustrating for her.
Have you tried fenty? She's mixed. Can't be that dark. There are many shades in that range.
This actually gives those with darker skin, the option to mix foundations to find a shade closer to their skin. It’s the same with the pure White foundation, that can be mix, to make a foundation lighter.
This very company has. They have many colors from light to dark. And there are many other companys Iman, Maybelline, Loreal, Tarte, to many to name. Perhaps I missed something, but, I thought it was purchased in an attempt to see if it was a good fit, like most foundations, you only get to see how it looks on you after purchase if you're not actually in store. It sounds like this brand didn't have different options for darker shades. That being said, if it has a good reputation, and you try it, and that is what many influencers do, review make up. It's also the history that makes it a sensitive issue, and while it may seem like complaining to those that don't have the skin, when you have delt with exclusion, discrimination, blatant insults, etc...... you get tired of the bull....and instead of sitting back and taking it (as history shows), people are mobilizing, speaking out, and taking their money elsewhere-while informing others...simple!
@@tiffanybolden1319again if u don’t like it, don’t buy it! Everything doesn’t have to be a racial conquest!
Darker shades have been difficult to create based on resources and lack of marketing to the proper demographics. I worked for a company that made customized foundation shades, adding extra colors from the color wheel to match individual undertones. It just wasn’t popular and over the years, never caught hold of the market. That line was inclusive with a wide range of base colors. Black owned businesses are more likely to be effective, appealing marketing, clean and environmentally friendly foundations. The owner in this company was most likely not included in the manufacturing and was told this had been tested when it was not. She probably needed to hit a launch date and never tried the product. I’m sure she regrets that now. It seems like she was shocked when she applied it to her model. One shade. Wtf?
If you’re interested, there is prior history with this brand not demonstrating undertone inclusiveness. She responded with a darker shade release, earlier than the deadline she gave herself. Recently she published a video of her scrambling to find a model for the shade in question. She ended up in a mall looking for models and hyped it as a victory when she found 2 people to demonstrate it on. (IMO, the shade didn’t match either man.) The lack of planning *prior* to the shade release, in combination with the aforementioned history, is befuddling to say the least.
@@CoffeePlease. Exactly. Your company, you're responsible for the results.
I'm gonna say she knew but didn't care enough to go back. She swatched it on very deep complexions but still let it go to market. The people she swatched weren't even real potential customers, they were male models without a mirror lol the owner knew and should be embarrassed
We are no longer in the era where darker people will accept this excuse of “it’s difficult to create”. We have seen businesses do this & do it well the first try like Fenty so we know its just an excuse. I am happy this happened bc other brands will be careful when releasing a new range of inclusive foundations. If you dont have the budget for it, then dont do it at all.
They tried to be funny
Nobody questioned when Ariana Grande rem beauty came with literal black concealer and blasma foundation stick darkest shade is black and many other brands are there with black colour in complexion products
That concealer is meant to mix with other colors to darken then. And black/grey makeup sticks are for contouring to add shadows to the face
The whole company is trash because this is more than a subtle mistake, but minstrel show blackface in a bottle.
Just because a company makes a terrible product that obviously wasn't researched or tested at all, doesn't make it a diabolical racist conspiracy. It's just a crappy product that won't sell and they need to take it off the market and do better if they want their company to succeed.
As a white women….this is racist. This woman did this to mock black skin. Very evil.
You must have never faced racism. There's just no way you don't realize that there are no jet black people or paper white people
When said company makes a terrible product that obviously wasn't researched or tested at all IN RESPONSE to calls for more black representation in its product line, then people can certainly draw the conclusion that it is a diabolical racist conspiracy. Any benefit of the doubt people were willing to extend to the company the first time around is gone after their latest antic. Some companies are upfront about the fact that their products are designed with a specific skin tone in mind. Not sure why this company can't do the same instead of insulting people of color with its tone-deaf efforts at representation.
I’m a black woman. I thought we wanted a range of shades. One minute, we can’t find shades dark enough, and the next minute, the shades go too dark. Just get the shade that works for your skin tone. I’m confused.
Did you watch the video? All skin has undertones, which means that shades of makeup are mixed with different pigments to mimic skin (red, yellow, blue, purple). No one has completely Black skin. But this particular shade they put out is PURE black. As a makeup manufacturer, they should have known better.
No you're not confused. It's exactly what we all are thinking. It's not all that causes a stir. But particular ones that are always creating a stir. About nothing. Complaining there are not enough on one end, the co responded, now complaining they're not right on the other. What happened to priorities? Ugh
This actual foundation and it's not supposed to be bc one it doesnt have no undertones and 2 there are not black person that's black as a black crayon! Even the darkest skintone for black people, u can see they are a very dark skintone. That's what the popular on the video and many others trying to say.
The fact that you're confused tells us you don't have the range to even participate in this conversation. 😫
The problem with this brand last year was that their darkest shade in the bottle didn't match packaging and online images. It was very light.
They released a new shade this year. One. This deep black, which does fit the person @2:11, but nothing in between.
So, they're hypocrites. As for people just can't go buy a different foundation, one which does have a better range, well, that's a whole another discussion.
But this brand apologized last year, and came up with one color, which is commonly found in market under black face paint 🤭
The people that 'matched' didn't have it on. That is the cleanest beauty blender I've seen outside a store...they intentionally didn't put a lot on.
I have a male friend who is extremely dark. When he is in the sun, I can see iridescent sparkles on his skin. It's the most beautiful magical thing ever. I literally LOVE his skin. But, he gets treated so terribly by white and Asian women. They all claim to be scared of him or uncomfortable around him. This is literally a shame that a brand would be so insensitive.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 everyone needs to look up what blackface actually is and stop trying to throw around buzzwords
Exactly
We know what blackface is. YOU need to look up what blackface is and the implications of the practice. Instead of trying to diminish the impact this crappy product has on darker skin maybe learn the history of dark skin women in beauty, modeling, entertainment, etc. it goes much deeper than blackface. Don’t know or care what your race or complexion is. Being insensitive and lacking compassion isn’t limited to one race. Just know for dark women it’s more than blackface.
Well the tik toker compared the foundation to black face paint and they are pretty much the same thing.
Exactly. This shade is 100 percent what a person would use for blackface. It's reprehensible and insulting.
Creating problems where there is none. Looks ignorint to cause a mountain because 1 shade doesn't fit u.
Do not buy their products. There are options out there.
Haha the anchor kept saying....absolutely!
This is basically charcoal in liquid form. The only difference is charcoal is cheaper.
Also, stop being hypocritical and demanding, there are literally other brands that have your exact shade range. If y'all don't appreciate this one for being inclusive, then don't buy it. Simple as that.
They sent the lady makeup to review, she reviewed it. This sparked a conversation, nothing wrong with that.
I have seen a ton of black women complain on videos that there are no dark foundation colors to match their skin tone. Now they're complaining again that it's too black?!?!?
Nobody is just black.... Even the darkest skin tone has undertones.. golden . Purple. Yellow 😤
The point is that they essentially put black paint in a bottle and carelessly dumped it onto shelves.
Some people to have very dark skin, darker than hers. I have the opposite issue I have trouble finding a shade fair enough for me that don't look yellow, orange or ghost white.
No one is jet black.
Euphoria needs to ask people of all skin types to test and improve the shade
I see how stark the black colour is, however I’m not sure if this was newsworthy. There’s tons of other makeup companies out there to choose from that properly cater to women of colour, and it looked to me like the Youthforia spokeswoman was of Asian descent so I don’t think it’s necessarily purposeful discrimination, it’s just a happenstance of a poor product, no different than any other half a** products that are made these days.
For all you saying this would be likened to a pure white colour makeup product, if a company made a pure white coloured product (which I’m sure with all the brand competitors that someone already has) it wouldn’t make the news, nor would as many women be offended by it, and I’m just pointing out the facts here, not trying to offend anyone more than they already are.
I am black and have family members of all different shades. so it does not seem weird to me. there are true 100% black people of the African continent that are black just like the makeup being presented. so to say that the makeup is just wrong, would be insulting to African people that actually match it. Maybe the company wanted a tone that matched the darkest, most blackest African skin. Humans don't know what they want: insulted for being left out, then insulted because it is not the color black you were expecting. Instead of attacking the company, just ask them to make even more dark shades to choose from. Or make your own makeup. There are so many beautiful black African models with the same shade. and there are so many black Africans that are CZcamsrs with the same shade. it's best to research why they chose that color rather than blasting someone without all the information.
could not agree more
Did you watch the video? No one on earth has skin that is completely Black, which was what the foundation was. All skin has some type of undertone, and this was the only shade in the entire range that wasn’t mixed with other pigments for undertone.
Thank you. Wish more people thinks the way you do.
What the hell are you yapping about and y’all that agree with this bullshit. Ever so eager to reference “Africans and Africa” for topics like this. NO AFRICAN IS BLACK like paint fgs!. Extremely dark brown but not charcoal or jet black and i know this for a certainty because i grew up in Africa(Nigeria) (been to several countries in Africa ,even Sudan in East Africa where they have some of the darkest skin tones and even they aren’t Black) most of y’all just base your talk on pictures from the internet, you can’t find a single jet black person in real life 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
They knew that the shade wouldn't match anyone, they just didn't care. Like saying "you want a dark shade, here's pitch black". There are companies that actually try and care, like Fashion Fair, which seems to be trying to make a comeback. Shop where you're wanted.
well it can be used for cosplayers and halloween makeups that need black instead of facepaints...dont force it if it wont work on you
girl why would every other foundation be finished natural looking skin tones and the last one is straight black?? keep trying to rationalize it lol
