As an adult in my mid 20s took me to years to master! My hat is off to this young man! At least he don’t have an android stuck 2 inches from his face playing games! People are quick to forget. Not even a hundred years ago in this country, this kid would have the skills to farm, more or less by himself. He would already know how to raise, treat, and sell cattle or produce, would know how to operate heavy farm equipment. Or, work in a lumber mill, where they had kids working full size steam saws and other equipment. Kids are far more capable than we give them credit for, and, this kid is going to grow up well balanced, and very self reliant because of this. When we talk about not coddling our youth anymore, THIS is what we mean. Teach them to use tools, to build, and create. We dont mean start screaming at them like an employee on a job site that just wrecked a 2 million dollar machine. Let kids get out there again, let them work, use tools, learn trades.

Just turned 42 a couple of days ago and I'm a machinist. I was lucky I had people to teach me how to do things... plumbing, electrical, construction, mechanic work, welding, gardening, etc. More importantly, they taught me how to *think* about a problem and reason it out to find a solution. I'm trying to do the same with my son.
That kid is learning a lot more than just how to weld/fabricate or spin wrenches. His father is doing exactly what he should be, and the kid has a leg up on a lot of life's problems if he applies the lessons. Hopefully he continues on because I bet in 10-15 years he does amazing things.

Thank you for standing up for the little guy Adam! I believe he built it, and he did an incredible job! I’m a mechanic, and my youngest son wanted me to teach him the trade; so I did just that. He was a natural and at the age of ten he was repairing mowers, tillers, mini bikes, go carts etc..around our neighborhood. I have a welding degree, and he wanted to learn that as well, so I took the time to teach him. Before long he was helping me with cars, welding and fabrication. Today he’s thirty five years old, and works in a chemical plant; and guess what he’s doing there, he’s repairing machinery I have never heard of; and welding and fabrication in their shop, making more money than I could ever fathom making per year. I don’t know the young man in your video, but I loved seeing him on his bike, and what he did with his own two hands, and it takes brains as well. It brought back some good memories for me. If Mozart could write a symphony at five; who’s to say a ten year old couldn’t build his own chopper?! I hope the little guy never stops building! No matter what anyone says or think’s little brother; build anyway! I tip my hat to ya, a job well done, and to be proud of for sure!

In today's day, an age to get young people off their phones and create things with their hands and learn skill and hold their attention is huge! His Dad and everyone who helped him build something instead of just buying deserve a pat on the back. Well done and keep passing on that knowledge👍

Inspirational young fellow. Tig welding isn't simple.
Kids did this kind of thing in the 80s and early 90s, where I grew up. We disassembled a trail bike motor and rebuilt it with help from a mechanically inclined adult. We did do all the actual work, but someone had to explain it to a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds.
This kid obviously has better resources and way more skill than we had.
Pretty epic. He's going to do very well.

But as time went on, he did more of the designing, building and testing, eventually to the point where he was doing it himself and I was just sitting back and admiring him for it.

And his chopper is absolutely fantastic. Thinning out my 3 generation tool collection and putting together tool sets for several young men. One who graduated high school a couple of years ago is now a Ford mechanic and his gifts were good new roll around boxes and a bunch of my tools. Help a kid out.
