- For all of you who like to work on your own vehicles, the serpentine belt is a common replacement for good maintenance or just peace of mind. It needs to be changed at regular intervals throughout your vehicle's life. I like to include the idler pulley and belt tensioner at the same time due to the cost-effectiveness of getting it done while changing the serpentine belt. My video can guide you to do it yourself. This DIY was performed on a 2009 Hummer H3T Truck with a 3.7-liter engine, I5.
I would rate the difficulty as a 1.5 out of 5 🔧. Fairly easy with the correct tools. The serpentine belt installation is the hardest part.

This video is extremely beneficial. You give all of the information I require in this video. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, I need to do this for my H3.
You should!
hi bro did you use special tool to release the tensioner? or anything that fit in the hole?
I think it's one of two things. A 3/8" ratchet or breakover bar that fits into a slot or I added a socket on the factory nub of the belt tensioner itself.
I noticed that my Hummer makes an ugly noise when I press on the accelerator, will replacing the belt and tensioners resolve that problem?
That's hard to say without hearing where the noise is coming from.
