    After you've played a while, there's strategies to play to assure you'll have a play on either end of the rack no matter which end your opponent plays to. That helps get points out of your stack.

    Thanks for the video. I'm trying to learn dominoes for the first time to play with some buddies. I'm seeing TONS of variation in the rules as I look online. I think I'm looking to play the game where you need to score w/ multiples of 5's (which you covered to an extent). I think the scoring makes sense for the most part, but I have some questions about playing/scoring doubles I haven't seen answered to my satisfaction:
    (1) Is it correct that the first double played is a spinner? Also does the game have to start with a double or, if nobody has one is it just the highest domino? In that case (starting with a non-double) does the first double played as the game progresses become the spinner?
    (2) With respect to the spinner, you play off the sides first, and once the sides are 'closed' you can then play off the ends -- is this correct?
    (3) When playing a non-spinner double during play do you have the option to play it in either orientation (or is it always played sideways)? If either are allowed it seems playing perpendicular would result in two playable ends whereas playing in line would result in just one.
    Thanks all.

    Big 5
    When you played the double 4 on the bottom it’s not 6+4, when you play a spinner you have to total both sides of the domino so the double 4 has to play as an 8?
    You HAVE to play a double as a spinner?

    • @argonwheatbelly637
      @argonwheatbelly637 Před 5 lety +2

      For straight dominoes, I play 6-Love, i.e. 6 games won in a row. For big 5, 250 points, but no spinners. The game is linear. You don't want left over points in your hand, you want them on the table, and scored. Anything left in hand is bad.

    • @diegopineda9094
      @diegopineda9094  Před 6 lety +2

      rrosajr1 yes of course sorry for the late response the reason your family member's know what you have in your hand is because they are reading the board and studying your moves and numbers you're throwing down, for instance they're 6 denominations in domino so if they're 4 fives already on the board that means one of your opponent has 2 fives in his or her hand also if u see your opponent laying down the same number always block them with a different number that's a great strategy in straight domino and get rid of your highest numbers first and enjoy and have fun..

    • @Alina-kx1kj
      @Alina-kx1kj Před 4 lety +1

      In this game you only get points when it's a multiple of 5. So if on one end there's a 3, and on the other end there's a 2, you get 5 points ( 3 + 2 = 5). If on one end there's a double 4 (which equals 8), and the other end is a 2, you get 10 points. If one end is a double 5 (which equals 10), and the other end is a 0, you get 10 + 0 = 10 points. Any points that don't add up to a multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20), don't give you any points. So if one end is a 5 and the other end is a 3, (5 + 3 = 8, which is not a multiple of 5), you get no points. Or if one end is a double 3 (which is 6) and the other end is a 6, (6 + 6 = 12, which is also not s multiple of 5), you get no points.
      On the other hand, if the double 4 was on one end, and you put a 2 on the other end (double 4 is 8, 8+ 2 = 10, which IS a multiple of 5), you'd get 10 points.
      Hope that makes sense.

    • @IsabelJRP923
      @IsabelJRP923 Před 7 měsíci

      Double four makes 8 not 10 points. It has to be a multiple of 5 to write down your points.

    • @EM-vr8ip
      @EM-vr8ip Před 2 lety

      If there are 4 players with 7 dominoes each, it adds up to 28. That is the amount of dominoes in the game. So someone has the double six. If only 2 players, then get dominoes from the boneyard. But remember the first one to run out of dominoes wins, so getting dominoes from the boneyard isn’t good. Hope this helps. 😊
