hi. Could You Be Messiah is part of an original Filipino Christian musical entitled First name, staged in Manila some 30 years ago. Morissette's version is part of an all-star tribute to the musical's writer, lyricist and director, Freddie Santos, who passed away last December. First Name Anew is the title of this tribute, featuring the songs of the musical rearranged and reimagined for a new generation. It was streamed last February.
If I am right, she is singing here from experience, words and music combining to convey something of the meaning for so many of us who have asked these questions personally and found that Jesus Christ - the Messiah - is indeed "all that we make Him to be".
This song is pure simple sad raw powerful and beautifully sang by angelic voice Morissette people in the world needs heard specially Christian and thank you for your continuing support for Morissette great reaction

Well thats the first time you had tears in your eyes thanks for your reaction, this song comes from a Philippinen Christian Musical writen from Freddie Santos who sadly passed away in December 2020, Gary Valenciano who did the original arrangement and sang this as well in 1990s rearranged it for Morissette and Dave lamar Produktion they cryed through most of this Video it's just beautiful and thanks again....

I prefer this version, raw and unedited, to the studio edited version. It's simple but incredible, a masterpiece by itself. The laugh & cry bit at the end just added authenticity. Kudos Mori, Dave, and team!

Morissette was in the middle of shooting her movie, Song of the Fireflies, when the pandemic hit so the movie had been shelved for now. Her tour was also cancelled (she was supposed to perform in the U.S., Australia, Middle East and Canada). In the movie, her role is that of a music teacher. Song of the Fireflies is based on the story of the Loboc Children's Choir, who makes an appearance in the film.
The Loboc Children's Choir was established in 1980. From its humble beginnings in Bohol (a province in the Philippines), the choir went on to become one of the top children's choirs in the country and has also performed in various parts of the Philippines and abroad.

2) the voice and vocal technique used is amazing
3) this song is more emotional and touching than "hero" by mariah carey or "listen" by beyonce, because morissette is the best "storyteller", try to listen and compare while closing your eyes !!
