I’m going to cook it with very simple ingredients, potatoes, carrots, onions and chicken tight and instant roux.
The simplest way is the reason of popularity.

I'm half Japanese, born on Hokkaido & raised in America. I grew up in an area of California that was very culturally diverse. So I had many different types of curry during my growing up years. My favorite is Japanese style. To me it's milder yet more savory than Chinese, Thai, or Indian curry. I do like those as well, but Japanese curry brings a sense of nostalgia for my childhood & I could eat it every day!
Thank you for watching and your comment. Actually I was born Hokkaido too😳 and raised in Tokyo. It’s very nice! I’m glad you said so that! Next summer or autumn I’m going to Hokkaido to meet my relatives and try traditional food in Hokkaido!! Thank you so much😊
Mmmm, decoy chocolate
Thank you for this video - I am learning to cook and will try this recipe soon!

You’re welcome😊
I hope you enjoy Japanese curry!
My boi back at it!
Thanks. Im hungry for curry now
Thank you for watching. Curry stimulates our appetite so much.
I love curry. When I lived in Japan, at least once a week I made curry with potatoes, carrots, pieces of beef, and delicious Japanese rice. When I worked in a large factory and had little time every day for lunch, so instead of choosing several dishes and waiting in several lines of people, I took the curry and tofu line. Unfortunately, here in Brazil, boxed curry and rice Japanese type is very expensive. So we have to adapt the recipe with Indian curry powder. I really wanted to learn how to make these Japanese curry tablets so I could try making them here in Brazil. And other recipes from Japanese origins, today most things are already produced by factories. It would be interesting to learn from the raw material to the final product, to maintain the recipes of our ancestors that are being lost over time. Thanks for the video, it made me miss Japanese curry
Thank you for your comment! Yes, the quickness is also good point of this curry. Oh, they are expensive in Brazil. Actually I’ve never been to Brazil. So your information is interesting too. Someday I will contribute to what people eat Japanese food adequate price.
Thanks always! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
Can't wait to find the roux and make this! Thank you!
If you are in the US or elsewhere S&B Curry Roux is easily available.
Also goes amazing with pork katsu!
Thank you for watching too!!
Craig, Thank you. I did find some!
You should brown the chicken in oil. Do not just boil raw chicken at the end. You are missing out on the maillard reaction which will make it even more delicous.
Thank you for your advice. Yes, you’re right. Maillard reaction gives me more rich flavor. But I think my way makes chicken softer than browned chicken. This is my opinion. Thank you. I’m glad I knew your opinion!
Very nice Japanese curry recipe. The style of cutting the carrot is that called Rangiri? I have seen this method I’m pretty sure watching other Japanese recipes.
Really liking your channel thank you for showing this recipe 🙏😃
Thank you very much! Yes, you’re right. This currying style is Rangiri. Japanese often use this. I’m so glad you said that😊
I love Japanese curry. My local Japanese grocery store sells three brands of curry blocks; Kokomaru, Java, and Golden. I like the spicy ones better than the mild ones!
I love it and I also like spicy one!! This time, I used Kokumaro. But, I usually use Java curry. I think it’s most spicy. Thank you for your comment every time. I’m so glad!
As per usual Ryusei-Sam an amazing Video. I have always wanted to try authentic japanese curry. I will definitely be using your recipe!
Thank you always!! I’m very glad I was able to meet your hopes😊 Yes, please try it!! Thank you!
I’ve made this before and love it. I like your how you arranged it on the plate. Presentation is also a skill.😊
Sounds good! I like it too. Thank you very much😊
I have always wanted to try and cook Japanese curry as whenever we go to Japanese restaurant,my son would always ask for japanese curry,so now I can cook this at home.Thank you so much, your instructions are very clear. If I omit meat and use tofu instead, would it taste as good?just for variety..
Thank you very much! I’m very happy my video is useful for you. Yes, you omit meat. But I’m not sure whether tofu goes well with Japanese curry. Actually I’ve never use tofu for curry. I’m sorry for giving clear answer. By the way what’s kind of tofu do you use? I probably think deep fried tofu goes well with it🤔.
@@kyodokan.japanese.cuisine Oh my goodness, yes!! Why didn't I think of it!! Tofu puffs of fried tofu would go well,I definitely will try that,Thank you so much.😍
@@Ieatlikeabird-mh7tz I think so and hope to enjoy it with your son! You’re welcome.😊
To make for dinner for 3 people should I use 3 boxes of curry roux ?
A box of curry give you usually for about 8 people. So one box is enough.
Thank you for watching always!!
The tablets help, but you can have the same effect in curry powder and corn starch
Thank you for your advice! I’ll try using curry powder and corn starch.
