    I'm planning to cut fabric which is at max is 3mm (various fabric I got), I need to cut PUL fabric (at max 1mm), cotton fleece (at max 2mm). My problem is PUL fabric is made of 2 layers , one layer polyester and one layer polyurethane lamination. I'm wondering will it affect the edge using 15W laser (will be burn the lamination which is 15micron) ? will that too bad. one manufacturer told me to avoid laser to cut and use other cutting tool. I'm planning to buy desktop cnc (simple ones) and attach the 15W laser. However , wondering will I be able to use it continuously.

    Is it possible to cut a 3mm MDF using multiple pases? (there is a video of a guy in brasil using a 15w laser to cut a 5mm MDF making 8 cuts at a low speed).

    How deep will it cut? Also how are you dealing with fumes, and are you going to put a shield around it?

      15 watt actually the max it can output.. possible 10-12 the safe continuous power
      the important is the vawelenght
      the co2 with 1060 vawelenght reflecting, versus the 445-450 like this penetrating in the metal
      it can make marks on stainless steel without cermark
      versus co2 that need cermark or oxygen assist to cut stainless.. but for that you need at least 150 watt

    Can cut foam with this laser? And how deep in foam will be?

    • @TheissHilmar
      @TheissHilmar  Před 6 lety +1

      I have alresfy cut 20mm foam. 10mm in one cut, Then I move the laser 10mm down and cut the second 10mm.

      Theiss Hilmar never tryied with 3" ? I have a hot wire cnc machine for cutting it, but im trying to inprove the letter cutting, any idea of what should i buy?

      Sorry, I have no experience with 3" foam.
      "Oscillating Knife Cutting Foam" on CZcams may help.

    I love how you have the Z axis going up when the laser is turned off and then down when it is turned on. That way the Z axis pushes the photons towards it's target instead of like the rest of us do by leaving it at the same height for the whole job.
    LOL

      I saw some guy from Brasil making a cut in a 5mm MDF but using around 8 cuts......can you verify if this is true? maybe on a 3mm MDF it could really cut it with 4 or 5 times going a bit slower.

    • @nicolashrv
      @nicolashrv Před 5 lety

      I know in 9mm MDF will not cut it not even in multiple cuts, because the laser will start to chang its angle the deeper the cut goes, so I can now tell darktermi1993 this will not be usefull for his job even if it can cut 3mm......I can suggest him, if this does cut the 3mm MDF that he makes 3 cuts on 3mm and glue them together.
      I think minimum he will need a 60w laser CO2 cutter for that thickness. 40w will also have the cuts not straight due to the laser changing its angle in thick materials.

    • @lazyh-online4839
      @lazyh-online4839 Před 5 lety

      @@nicolashrv the power and focus angle are two different yet related issues. If you have a laser focused to a large enough focal distance then you could theoretically make multiple cuts to get that 9mm material, but it wouldn't be practical. The machine itself would be too large and would need to be incredibly sturdy and precise to make sure the multiple cuts all lined up perfectly, if you're going to put that much into the project then go with the advice given and get a higher powered (60+ watt) co2 laser.

    Can cut acrilic and how deep

    • @TheissHilmar
      @TheissHilmar  Před 6 lety +1

      No, for cutting acrilic you need a co2 laser.

    • @gustavferdman214
      @gustavferdman214 Před 5 lety +1

      The issue while cutting acrylic is not the power but the wavelength. I am sure this laser is powerful enough to cut about 3 mm acrylic, however, since the wave lenght is way to low it will just pass right throught it and burn whatever is beneath the acrylic.

    How high have to be the laser from the surface?

    • @lazyh-online4839
      @lazyh-online4839 Před 5 lety

      The height depends on how you focus it, you can focus the laser however high you want it to be.

  • @caryandrae9952
    @caryandrae9952 Před 5 lety

    15w is not high power. 100, 150, 260 or 1kW and above are high powered lasers. This is only considered high power in low powered diode lasers.
