About the artist:
Tejashree grew up in an ambience of Taal and Sur in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. As a baby she would cuddle up to her great grandmother, the legendary Gaana Tapaswini Late Smt. Mogubai Kurdikar, where she unknowingly absorbed laya, taal and sur. After curtailing her creative tilt towards Fashion Designing, Tejashree has concentrated her creative aspirations towards music under a guru none other than her grandmother Gaana Saraswati Late Smt. Kishori tai Amonkar. With two preceding generations of one of the highest cadres of Indian Classical Vocalists of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Tejashree has opted for a not-so-easy profession.

Delighted to come to know how articulate Tejashree is! She comes across as a reflective artiste, grappling with her family legacy. It's not an easy path indeed... especially given the remarkable legacies consolidated by Mogubai ji and Kishori Tai. I couldn't imagine a more amazing conversation to listen to! To say that Tejashree ji is amazing as a singer, speaker and explainer would be an understatement. I don't mind anyone calling Kishori tai just Kishori, because I know no disrespect is meant. One suggestion I'll give is-please put up a better video thumbnail! That'll attract more viewership to this lovely discussion. Everyone deserves the _aananda_ of listening to GaanSarawati’s granddaughter speaking, about her guru’s way of teaching, with such clarity and authenticity, all the while avoiding verbosity or egoism.
I attended this mesmerizing performance by Smt. Tejashree Amonkar at G5A, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Her profound knowledge and clarity in classical music were evident, a testament to her tutelage under Kishori Tai. The concert was a gem, with Tejashreeji's voice casting a spell on the audience. Having witnessed her accompany Kishoriji in Delhi, I can attest to her talent.
The Q&A session provided valuable insights into the challenges performers face in elevating the artform. However, I must express a slight reservation about the interviewer addressing Kishoritai as Kishori.Please do not do that. It's essential to acknowledge her lineage and refer to her as Gyan Saraswati, respecting her position as the daughter of Mogubaiji. Overall, an enriching experience that highlighted Tejashree Amonkar's brilliance and the nuances of classical music.

It would have been more advisable for Sumanaji to address Kishoritai respectfully - her insistence on “Kishori” sounds snarky bordering on contempt. She wouldn’t have liked anyone to have addressed her own revered Guru in that manner, surely.
