This concert features the young Sarod virtuoso Pratik Shrivastava of the Maihar Gharana whose rootedness in the tradition of Indian Classical Music blends seamlessly with innovation authentically relevant to a global South-Asian lens.
Accompanying him is Vinayak Netke (tabla).
About the artists:
Pratik was initiated into the art of playing the Sarod at the age of six by his grandfather Pandit Rabi Chakraborty, himself an eminent Sarod player of the “Maihar Gharana”, and nurtured the art form under the tutelage of his uncle Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty ever since. Pratik’s journey started in the year of 2000 at the International Children’s Festival in Amman (Jordan), at the age of 13. Since then he has been travelling across countries to present solo Sarod recitals in the field of Hindustani Classical music. Pratik’s talent is a reflection of hard work, sincerity, dedication and unadulterated guidance from his family.
A trained tabla player with an in-depth knowledge of Indian Classical music and a flair for writing and composing, Vinayak wears many hats at the same time. He performs across the globe with many acclaimed musicians, generously bringing to the table his sharp understanding of musical grammar. He has performed with acclaimed musicians like violinist Dr. N. Rajam, violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, Late Lata Mangeshkar and Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali in stage performances across continents.

Baithak, a traditional concert series, creates an intimate space which embraces the subtle, unspoken moments between artist, instrument, and audience.
The performance was recorded live at the G5A Black Box which has been carefully designed for a pristine auditory experience.
