It is an unavoidable fact that the amygdala creates emotions and sends them to the rest of the brain much more quickly and effeciently than the frontal lobe (responsible for formal logic) can address them. When you are recieving these emotional inputs from your amygdala but dismissing them, they will fuck you up. Your brain, all brains, are a series of interlocking systems that can only be effectively addressed as a whole. Separating emotions and logic is completely pointless and stupid because they rely on each other to function. Your emotions determine your priorities, (i.e. I wanna avoid stuff that makes me feel hurt, I wanna seek out stuff that makes me feel joy) your logic helps you perform actions that move you towards those priorities. Without using both in tandem, you’re useless. Invalidating the feelings of another human being is similarly useless. You can “logically” come up with a plan of action but if you don’t actually know what they WANT or NEED from their emotions, then what fucking good is logic? How are you supposed to know what to logic yourself towards if you don’t even know what you’re trying to get at? Feelings exist to tell you what your needs are. Logic exists to get you to those needs. You cannot problem solve unless you know what the problem is that needs solving. Use them both, and understand that feelings objectively and unavoidably always come first.
