In my twenties I could drink massive amounts of alcohol all Friday night, smoke ciggies and weed, get into a fight, go home with a girl and work Saturday and do it all again that night, go to the gym during the week, work and do it all again. Even the fittest of us middle aged are not what they were when they were younger. I understand some may have found fitness in their later years but their hearts, lungs, joints were all younger, body more durable and quicker to recover even if they weren't fit in their twenties.

Im 36, and with a couple weeks of priming my body with working out and cardio I feel better than I did in my 20s. It's easy to start/stop get lazy, repeat the cycle. This time I'm going to start training as well as working out and do my best to keep my motivation up. Im also going to cut meat out of my diet. Look up vegan/vegetarian muay thai fighters. Ita actually becoming quite popular. Plenty of ways to get the resources out bodies need to be fir without meat and feel better/lighter for doing so.

No worse feeling than struggling to get your damn neck free while there are knees and elbows flying towards you. Lol wish I took some grappling before Muay Thai just to be better at fighting for hooks and head position.
Great muaythai fighters and great Bjj have one thing in common imo, it is the understanding of weight placement but in Bjj it's more elaborate coz you both are on the ground.
Mind you, that technique does require you to be damn quick before they get a tight grip. Either that or someone with terrible technique to put their arm so loosely around your neck. However, that pretty sums up grappling - hard to pull off techniques against a skilled opponent - devastating against anyone who hasn't trained.
