- J.S. Bach: Violin Concerto in a minor, BWV 1041 II. Andante
Katha Zinn, violin
Illya Filshtinskiy, piano
Fun fact: Bach liked his Violin Concerto No. 1 in a minor so much, that he decided he'd adapt it for the Harpsichord- and it became the Harpsichord Concerto No. 7 in g minor. Likewise, Bach liked his Harpsichord Concerto No. 5 in f minor so much, that it also became the Violin Concerto No. 3 in g minor!
What can we tell from this habit? We think that it shows that Bach's music was really meant to be played for any instrument, in any setting. That's part of why we feel so comfortable playing this Concerto in a very chamber music setting: just two instruments. This movement is SO satisfying to the players- and hopefully the audience as well!- just allowing yourself to sink into the weight of these chords gives such a deep pleasure. The clarity of every note becomes a thing of perfection!

Sunday mornings with Bach just feels right. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.
I'm glad we've instilled 'Sunday mornings with Bach' as a thing! :) Thanks for listening!
I really enjoyed this piece of music. The sound quality is fantastic. What I know about music composition and composers could fit on the point of needle. I do, however; know quality music when I hear it. This piece is beautiful and your performance was just as beautiful. Thank you guys for sharing your beautiful music with us.
Always happy to share beautiful music with an appreciative audience! :)

Brilliant, as always!
Extreme love.
Amazing, Love it
Sweet!
As I am ready to play this for the third time, I catch myself thinking: What was going through Bach's mind when he was composing this? We all know how seamlessly Johann blended anguish with joy. The ultimate alchemist of gentle human emotions.
Welcome your thoughts.
Скорее рождаются не мысли, а ощущения светлой грусти возможно о прошедшем, возможно о будущем. И кажется, что это и есть настоящее
@@artfulelena Thank you!
Translation: Rather, no thoughts are born, but feelings of light sadness, perhaps about the past, perhaps about the future. And it seems that this is the real
