In the Quiet of the Night (SATB divisi and Piano ) - Lawrence Laureano

In the Quiet of the Night is one of the movements of a larger work entitled “The Joy of Being,” a choral piece that I wrote as a reflection of nature’s way of reminding us that we are a part of something profoundly beautiful that connects us to the greater whole, “the universe.” The song reminds us that “in the quiet of the night” there is an opportunity for us to go deeper into ourselves, to touch that part of us that is beyond form, our true essence. Connecting to the power of stillness and nature in the sacredness of the night, reflecting the beauty that is an essential part of our own innermost being, our true nature.
In the quiet of the night
When darkness steals the light, steals the light
I wander free
The night is free, it's calling me
On moonlit night I seek for peace
Come unto me
In the quiet of the night
When stillness breaks away inside I lie awake
Peace hovers near opaque
And as I search a way out through this veil of gloom
I see the moon
Inviting tune
Calling to guide me home
How beautiful this midnight dream!
Come dream with me, my love
I weep for joy
Beneath the moon
Embrace me with thy love
