The first time I played mario kart was a few months ago in gamestop with my dad. We did one 100cc race because I literally didn't even know what the gas was, then we did 200cc a few times and I won all of them. Not to flex or anything but uuuh.. *F L E X*
Something else you didn't know about the animal Crossing track: that last turn has a magic rock. Hitting it makes bells appear (it's also a good way to make that sharp turn with a Mushroom boost)
The trees also drop fruits that can be used like Mushrooms.

@@lyrictheexplorer3455 There isn't a boost in the rocks lol but if you crash into them you lose all ur speed and coins will come out, which if you collect them you will have a higher max speed
200cc really tampered my enjoyment of this game, with being hit with items everytime I'm near the end of the course on the last lap, losing my placement and having to restart the cup
200cc seems extremely divisive, people either hated or love it. I'm on the side of loving it to the point were I think is the correct way to play the game, but at the same time I understand why others might hate it to the point were they want it removed from the game. It really depends on how you like to play games.
To be fair, Mario Kart is just chaos. If you want a serious, no bullshit experience, turn off items and such, or just go play a realistic racing game.

My philosophy with Mario Kart has been, since the Wii days, to go for high acceleration over straight speed. ESPECIALLY in 200cc. That way shells, wall bumps, et cetera are at least a bit less detrimental. Idk, just a tip I guess? Love the video, Jay!
I can also totally relate to when you were playing the Animal Crossing level and were pointing out all the characters and places and things that you knew through playing the game. Until this year, I never really thought anything about the Animal Crossing track, until I got New Horizons.

1:45 is incredibly accurate hence why sandbagging is a good strat for online. All that matters is the way you enter the last lap, either far ahead in first, or with power items ready to come back with.

Some tips for 200cc:
1. Use a hybrid-drift bike, such as Mr. Scooty or the City Tripper. Start drifting slightly ahead of the turn far outside, then when you lock in a blue spark turn inwards with a sharp inside drift and adjust as needed. The two aforementioned bikes also have good acceleration stats, so you recover from slipups faster.
2. Use a medium-lightweight. This will reduce your hitbox, as well as give you better acceleration. My personal favorite is Cat Peach.
3. When you receive a coin from an item box save it until after you hit the next box. An item box cannot give you two of the same item, provided there is no lag.
4. Continue saving the coin in your first item slot after you receive protection. This will prevent Boos from stealing your shields. When you need to use the second item, use the coin, wait a short while, then hold your second item.
5. Keep an eye on the map as much as possible. Spiny Shells show up as warnings on the map, so you can use this to plan ahead.

personal tips for 200cc:
1. speed is your enemy!
even the slowest kart zooms along the track, choose a kart/bike that has high handling (bb rosalina/mr scooty/azure wheels is my personal choice)
2. dont drift at every turn!
learn when it is right to drift, smaller turns are dont need to be drifted around, you can ultimately lose speed!
3. braking while drifting is essential!
this is even mentioned in the tips page on mk8d, but its best to say it here. even the kart with the best drift wont turn sharp enough, use it to stay on track!
4. braking is also essential!
referring to tip 1, speed is your enemy. if you are going to fast, brake. this is really helpful if you have chained drifts, getting a boost off the first one and then finding yourself flying off the track during the second.
5. practice, practice, practice!
nothing is better than practicing, you aren't good at something instantly. take these tips and put them into use and soon you will be a great racer!

Hey Jay, as a competitive MarioKart 8 Deluxe player, I have two good combos for ya.
Bike: King Boo/Waluigi, Mr. Scooty, Azure Roller, Cloud Glider (Use Isabelle or Toad for 200cc)
Kart: Dry Bowser, Biddybuggy, Azure Roller, and Cloud Glider.
If you prefer inside drift, use Yoshi Bike instead of Jet Bike
Your skill on inside drift 200cc honestly amazes me, I tried it the other day and i could hardly manage it XD

Fun fact: if you get 3 stars in 200cc it gives you 3 stars on all the other cc's as well. Same with 150, and 100. Its kinda odd but makes a little sense that if you master 200cc before 50cc, you'd be rewarded greatly
Recently, I was able to beat 200cc thanks to this. It may be three years or more late, but thank you for showing us your confidence.
If you can't make tight turns, try brake drifting! When you drift, hold b to slow down slightly, it's quite handy!

Getting 200cc perfect score was tormenting for me when it came to the final cups. I get 1 second place in the 3rd ot 4th race and i have to do it all over again
The lightning cup was the worst for me, took me two months to finish, I'm not even sure why it was so bad for me
I love 200cc ever since the original on Wii U and still love it today I don’t find it hard lol
Playing Animal Crossing in the fall reminds me a lot of playing Maple Treeway and I get very nostalgic because there are no leaf piles that give you mushrooms or stars.

I know this comment is three years late but if anyone ends up finding this and wants to get gold mario then I would recommend turning on smart steering and auto drive so you can keep yourself on the track and using characters like koopa troopa or baby Mario with the biddy buggy or teddy buggy with the roller wheels. Anyways hope this helps at least one person
