    Thank you so much dude! Last time I saw one of these it was running for around 7k and didn’t even include gloves (hint, CodeMiko uses this suit). I had been looking for years for an “affordable” solution. While this is still requiring me to sell my family, at least I don’t have to sell my pets and Computer too.
    Legit, now I am actually gonna save up for this bundle. Can’t wait😵

    It's incredible to me that no one producing mocap hardware has YET adopted the "ink-jet printer" business model: Get as many suits out there as affordably as possible and then get the users hooked on a subscription for data interpretation and clean-up - the same way Epson built a huge market with affordable printers, then made a fortune selling replacement ink cartridges. I know many are not fond of subscription services, but for some folks, a $4 - 14 thousand dollar entry point [depending on make and model] is insurmountable - whereas that same cost becomes manageable over a much longer period of time.
    And while I'm definitely no engineer, I would be genuinely surprised to learn that any of these inertial suits involve much more than $200 worth of hardware and a $25 track suit. I grant you that these companies should make a profit for their R&D and providing the service - NO argument there - but it seems the value [and therefore profit] is really in the software. Would love to know if this is not the case, because right now, it feels like having to pay $12,000 for a flat-screen tv because "Well, we had to develop them, y'know..."
    From what I've seen, it looks like Move A.I. is going kill 90% of the suits anyway [if not more], so... just be patient, I guess.

    • @billalorra890
      @billalorra890 Před rokem

      Move ai does not have a profitable subscription. You can only use 30 minutes per month, this is nonsense.

    Thanks for the review! I will say that while you said that most captures required no clean up, from all the footage that was shown, to me as an animator, they all looked like they required clean up. The were sliding of the feet, slight jitters etc. but maybe it would still be beneficial. Would you say it's better than an Xsens suit in terms of overall features/functionality/cost?

  • @MegaMiley
    @MegaMiley Před 2 lety +6

    I used to have a SSP2 and returned it.. It was quite bad honestly and I don't want to give them a second shot. Instead I'm working on my own optical mocap system right now (as commercial optical mocap systems start at $10K which is way outside of my budget). The suit is EXTRTEMELY sensitive to metal and magnetic interference, it was "normal" for me to get 30-50cm of offset within 30 seconds of movement.. Buyer Beware for sure

    What exactly is the problem (except for Price & APIs and so on) for using a Suit like this as a tracker for VR Games? wouldn't this make incredible sense for something like SWAT-Training are some other large thing (that is not you playing Beatsaber in the Livingroom)?

    • @GameDevGuide
      @GameDevGuide  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah, there's absolutely cleanup work involved and you're going to get that with any kind of MoCap. It really depends on your use case and the kind of animation you need.
      I didn't do much clean-up, as these were mostly just initial tests, and totally down to the user what they'd like to do with them.

    • @kuichib
      @kuichib Před 2 lety

      I'm using an Xsens at work. I haven't had to cleanup the body for jitteriness, it's mostly on the contact side that needs some work because it's an inertial system it doesn't have accurate reference of where things are in relation to one another. But I suspsect that even with an optical system, you'll still have some penetration issues. But there you're paying a premium for that suit - not really doable for indies unless you get a sponsorship from them.
