  • Well, that was a close call!
In this video, we did a brake service on a Jaguar s S-Type 2006, replacing Front Brake Pads and Discs and also the Rear Pads and Discs. Following that, we replaced an Inner Tie-rod and Control Arm for an MOT failed Nissan Qashqai. We then followed that up by diagnosing a Fiat 500 with failed Number Plate light... oh and there's more. Mark's Motors kindly handed us a Clutch Replacement Job for a Vauxhall Astra J 1.6 Petrol, we then found out later on that her gearbox has failed, more than her clutch so we supplied her with a second-hand gearbox. On our way back to her... something very serios happened to van!

Recently started watching your videos and can I suggest is it worth making up something like a railway sleeper with stabilizing feet so that if the vehicle slips off its jacks you have some chance of being safe or maybe a couple of old stacked van wheels bolted together to make one stand. You know the van wheels with a raised inner boss like twin wheel Transits have and bolted face to face? Keep it up chaps you're doing a great job.

You would think they would notice the clunking in the steering wheel with those track rod ends! It will be a false economy if they don't get the tracking done and end up getting new tyres as well. I heard that those Nissan's have the rear suspension arms disintegration with rust problems! You know it makes a big difference using the OEM parts like valeo. The clutches are nice and smooth and you don't get juddering and things like that from a cheap clutch. Maybe something got caught up from on the road or a tree branch inside your wheel and damaged the brake hose?

One thing people don’t realise is when the pedal goes to the floor, that rubber on the piston has got to travel or does then travel the full length of the bore ,and that’s usually we’re it comes into contact or can Coe into contact with crap down that bore , I don’t like using a full travel on brake bleeding, because sometimes it can cause more problems,And I don’t do problems.plus I always do a runout clearance on any rotor I replace. Never had a come back on brakes ,for squeaks ect. Not like the garage I used to work for. ,They used to just throw the pads in. That place was clown city. Quality was low ,prices were sky high.I once went with the owner the parts shop ,And we was getting a clutch. Anyway the LUK clutch was literally £5.00!more than the cheaper chocolate cake one,So I said to the man ,hers get us the LUK one,At that moment the boss said ,wow what are you doing,he said it’s not the £5.00 difference,he said think that one only going to last 2 years and he,ll be back.put the LUK one in and he won’t,because it’ll last longer than the car.he had a point,It was a horrible feeling, when he was ripping people off,I hated it ,so I left in the end.Anyway lads keep it up ,And try and get some cover in the winter ,Gazebo or similar,F working in the rain, can’t have the snap on crap getting rusty.Snap on has gone a bit down hill recently. Some of that blue point stuff is crap . Had the 77 piece service set.was doing a clutch on a 206 puegout with a 7m 3/8?socket and it snapped. Ended up using a £6.00 one from Halfords and it done the job.ended up giving most of them away.Same thing happened the other day Halfords saved the day again doing a bearing on a transit and my 3/8 t 45 socket broke again on a Sunday, got a £11.00 cheapo set from Halfords,And hey they didn’t break.Hardly use them now ,Just let the Halfords stuff get rusty, snap on can sit in their nice shiny box ,Looking good, probably make a few quid when I get shut of them.Their ratchets always need repair kits, I use falcon ,much better and comfortable.Anyway stay warm brothers,Cause it’s going to get cold ,

Using crappy brands makes me cringe nowadays to be honest. I always say to my customers that if low-end brands are used, no warranty or guarantee on the job.

Not recommended on things that gets hot and moves I.e the brakes pins and runners because the grease eventually ‘melts’ away and the copper stays, which can seize stuff in place- only acceptable on parts that doesn’t move i.e Mounting Bolts etc…Also not ideal to use on aluminium due to galvanic corrosion

Depending on how bad your brakes are, I would never change all four discs and pads on the same day, doing a emergency stop with all the pads not bedded in at the same time is a bad idea.
