  • Is 2nd Ave Deli Pastrami Sandwich better than Katz's Deli Pastrami Sandwich?
    Historically Katz's was considered the king and 2nd Ave Deli was considered to have the 2nd or 3rd best pastrami sandwich in NYC. But times can change so will see has 2nd Ave Deli overtaken Katz's. Also I finally will try my first tongue sandwich as 2nd Ave Deli is supposed to have a good tongue sandwich. #nyceats #nycfood #pastrami #katz #foodie #2nd ave deli #tonguesandwich #foodreview #foodblogger #2ndavedeli

    I remember when the 2nd Avenue Deli was on 10th and 2nd and that place was great. Katz's Deli is great. Whatever sandwich is in front of me at the moment is the Best One 😂 Shalom

    Pickles are meant to cleans the palate between bites of the sandwich.

    Thanks for trying and reviewing a tongue sandwich. It is my favorite and it's difficult to find here in Massachusetts. You are the first I have seen so have subscribed as a thank you.

      Hi thanks for writing in and subscribing. I have generally heard great things about tongue sandwiches so I was a bit disappointed in what I tasted there. But maybe I need to try it at other places. So will do some research to see if there are places in NYC that are known for their tongue sandwiches.

    In this part of the video he is eating coleslaw and based on what I am seeing there is no red cabbage or grated carrots, as I know how to make it, but another way you can make it is instead of adding mayonnaise add a little vegetable oil vinegar, touch of sugar and maybe some chopped curly parsley, serve chilled or cold as they call it a chilled Tri-colored Slaw,instead of the traditional type, different because you want to see the vibrant colors as it's part of the presentation it addition to what else is on the plate,and during the summer months it's very refreshing and very different it goes against the NORM.But in general salads are very easy to make like a Chef salad, COBB SALAD SALADE NICOISE, even making a like-crabmeat salad and instead of adding mayonnaise add the oil, vinegar, sugar, adjust flavor, chill plate and serve.Again go to the supermarket buy your cold cuts,bread or rolls,condiments, and watch out for LOX,or Smoked Salmon, but make GRAVLAX,WHICH is surar cured salmon,and here's the recipe mix together 1 part kosher salt to 3 parts granulated sugar,add to the salmon flesh,put down skin side down add fresh dill whole black peppercorns,bay leaves,put something heavy on it to weight it down tie string around tie, cut and put it in the refrigerator for 4 days,cut the string, use the dill as a mop to clean everything up ,take out the pin bones,add brandy and vegetable oil, slice on the bias,plate with condiments and flat bread.You will not find this cold appetizer anywhere because many people don't know how to make it and it commands a high price on the menu,so stay away from the Lox,or Smoked Salmon, very expensive as I like it as a snack with bread,rolls,croissants, crackers, cheese,use your imagination and don't pay those outrageous prices

    i knew the moment you bit into that pickle, by the satisfying snap of the skin, to the tempo of the bite through the flesh (not a soggy pickle!), only one thing could be said... das a gooood pickle. I wish I went here when I was in NYC, katz's was just too busy

    Was the tongue sandwich from the tip or the back? Very different taste depending on where you ask it to be cut from. Back is better, trust me

      Hi I don't know if it is from the tip or back. I choose the center cut which I heard is more flavorful then choosing lean. So don't know. Thanks for providing this guidance.

    FYI-That's NOT COLE SLAW...it's called Claremont Salad from years ago at the long gone Famous Claremont Diner in Verona, New Jersey or also called Health Salad.....

      @@MotherofMothra They looked decent sized, and possibly two meals if you weren't too hungry, but I don''t know about 3. But the pastrami is probably very high quality.

    In this video he is talking about comparing Katzs to 2nd Avenue deli Pastrami sandwiches and I have been to both places and it's not worth the trip,because if you go to a gourmet supermarket you can buy it yourself at a fraction of the cost going to a deli,and all delis get there cold cuts from BOARS HEAD,and there markups are just plain crazy, so my advice is to go to your nearest supermarket and buy it yourself and make it the way you want to eat it as I am in the industry and avoid going to bars as there markups are 800%,because they have to pay for the liquor license so go to a liquor store and enjoy it at home

    • @alexkoronec4326
      @alexkoronec4326 Před 22 dny

      So, true about boar's head deli pastrami. I hear Katz's now charges almost $40 for a sandwich 😢

      Katz’s is not from Boars Head and 2nd ave is kosher so not Boars head as well
