Good insight by AJ. I recently did some research on graphite shafts and all the manufactures where talking up their own shafts. Ended up with regular flex
I have the same shaft in black as the white one. It came in my old Nike Sasquatch machspeed 9.5 STR8 fit. Fujikura Motore F3 60g instead of 55g. I went straight to the garage and got it, because I knew that it was the same. Love the videos man, keep up the great work.

I used a Cleveland launcher for years until my grandson broke it by accident,I tried various makes without success,this year aged 78 I purchased a sim two on advise from a local golf shop,light shaft low spin option,result boom,it shows always consult a club fitter.Great video as always
Excellent video. I had the exact same Riptide in my PXG driver in Senior Flex and it was, at best, OK. I liked the Tensei CK Blue shaft that I had on my hybrids so had a driver version of the Tensei shaft made in Senior flex (one inch longe than the Riptide) and it was a night and day difference. It was like a new driver, for a fraction of the cost.
Very good video. I always find in fittings that people highly undervalue the shaft as the catalyst for their swing dynamics and delivery. Low kick point shafts aren’t for everyone (especially high spin players) but it’s always good to experiment and see what works!
After watching this and other videos, I switched to a 50gm Riptide CB, 1/2 inch longer for like $37 off ebay!! With great results. Instantly getting more center strikes and longer drives on the course with smooth swings. Could not believe using the footspray to compare groupings, went from healstriker with Hzrdus to center with lighter Riptide. With the 70gm hzrdus I felt like I had to swing hard to get it to perform but it was a very straight. That was great when I'm able to practice alot but the riptide is so much easier to just swing easy. Both shafts were stiff so not as dramatic as what guys had
I totally agree with what he said. I am a club fitter in Singapore and there are alternative shafts with similar specs in the market. It's how you match up for the golfer that allows that golfer to hit his best shots with consistency.
Been watching you both for some time; really like the collaboration videos.

Great video... I use the Mizuno ST-Z 200 which uses the Evenflow 50g Reg flex and I have had it reduced to 43.75" length - which gets me 250y carry with consistency

I fitted a Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45 Graphite - Wood A (50 Euro shaft) took 2 inch off from the tip and installed Cobra Adapter for my Cobra Radspeed just for fun. Put the driver onto 10.5 degree, mounted some 14 gram weight in front slot to lower spin and a extra 6 gram weight in the back, lenght 45inch, swingweight around D1.1
which I love. Wow... tested it on trackman indoors, compared it to Ping 430 Max 10K, Ai Smoke Max, QI10, Cobra, TSi3 ... The 3 years old Radspeed was 7-8 yards longer then the Ai Smoke which gave a little tighter dispersion. But my Radspeed drives were all left centre line, baby draw and in the fairway all except one. But man the feel and timing fits me so much better, loving it.
Looking good Mr Short Game. I’d love to see you compare the auto flex driver shaft with the G-force driver shaft with the same premium head.
I put the G-force driver shaft in Ping G425 and added an extra 10-15 yards over my stiff shaft using a slower, more effortless swing.

The spin rate with the Autoflex was 500-600 higher than the others, change the loft of the driver and the distance will increase. TXG tested an autoflex and had similar distance numbers with a slightly lower swing speed, they lowered the loft on the driver by 1degree and the spin rate went down by almost 1000 while the overall distance increased over 25 yards.
Such a good video...dispelling the myth around high price shafts...$800 for an Autoflex is just plain nuts. I now game a SIM driver with the stock TaylorMade fake Ventus Blue R 60 gram shaft and it beats my PING G400 Max and SFT with pricier shafts all day long.

That EXACT thing happened to me last week, man. I was mid back swing and a bee stung me on the back of my neck. Caused me to flop a shot straight into water.
I did this. I put that shaft (in 5.0 flex) in my TSR3 in place of the stiff, 65g shaft I had. I didn't feel much difference in the shaft or the club, and it didn't bring down my swing weight much. Also, contact felt muffled. But....I gained about 10 yards on Trackman.
WHOA!!!! Mr Shortgame could have saved himself some $$$ if he new about that shaft a few months ago.
I think it's also interesting that R vs S vs other flexes may not me anything as the weight & other factors really make the difference. If you can swing fast and stays in play than that is the shaft for you.

Gforce has a shaft for the Driver where DIY golfers and custom club makers can fit the shaft with the fitting sleeve of the brand of Driver a golfer has. I got one at the beginning of the year and had a local custom club maker install the Callaway sleeve so I can use it on my two Callaway Drivers. Maybe that could be another experiment you can do.

Is there somewhere where I can see the metrics? I bought the Autoflex because it increased my carry substantially by raising my launch. I didn't get a huge distance gain because my previous shots rolled so far. I'm a rare case though as I am low launch super low spin player. AF with Stealth standard got me up to 12-13/2200 instead of 9.5/1700.

Tried this experiment with the same PX Evenflow Riptide CB 5.0 A flex 40g. Like you mentioned, it didn't really feel loose like the Autoflex is supposed to. It was just a very smooth feeling good performer. I also glued up a Garafalloy ProLaunch Blue A flex 45g. This is a shaft that anyone can buy at GG for $60. The #'s are blowing my mind right now! I've been playing a Fuji MotoreX F1 6X for the past 2 years. It was supposed to be my "forever shaft".. but I'm quickly losing that loving feeling and falling for one of these "Otto Phlex" shafts.
Would love to see another video with some of these readily available more budget friendly options that meet the budget of the Motore but can easily be found.
All of these can be found at GG or Golfworks for around $60 and seem to fit the profile.

@@botrott my stock SS is about 110-111. If I juice it up I can get to 114 . I'll say that I've found a real winner in the Garafalloy Pro Launch Blue 45g in A flex. It's my new gamer and the #'s are outstanding!
@@AZstu324 thanks for the quick response but that's almost 20 mph faster than me so it may not work. I'll have to see if they have a womans shaft.
@@botrott glad to help 😊. They do have an L flex in the Garafalloy PLB that seems to be working quite well for 90 mph range folks. It's a full length so you shouldn't have any issues cutting to 45, 46, or 47 inches. You can pretty easily find them at Golf Galaxy, PGA Tour Superstore, Golfworks, or Hireko Golf. Cheers!
@@AZstu324 thanks again. Did you have to make an adjustment with your driver with the new shaft? TXG ran a side by side with the Autoflex and the new Brava shaft. The Brava won the first round but the spin rate was very high on the Autoflex. For the second round they changed the head from 9 degrees to 8 which brought the spin rate down almost 1000 rpm on the Autoflex and the tester saw a considerable increase in distance. Close to 290 total with a swing speed of just 102 mph which I found amazing.
I just switched from a stiff flex hzrdous smoke to a riptide CB 5.5 50g. Arccos is showing a 55 yard gain in my Radspeed XD. Love that shaft.

short game guy's swing speed is about 105 and he's carrying his driver about 255, total distance is about 275. Are you saying you went from 220 total to 275 just by switching to the Radspeed XD?
@@golfrep2584 arccos showed my total distance for last year was about 215 maybe 210, this year my average on the app is 255 260.

The benefit of the autoflex is that it lets you play the soft shaft you need without hurting your ego.

Hey guys - I've had success building clubs using the Fujikura Vista Pro F3/F2 45 gram - a great alternative to a more expensive tour shaft- have you compared this one to the Motore or Riptide? The launch and torque is bit higher then the Riptide which has it's benefits. Cheers guys!
Aren't regular stiffness a bit soft and whippy for 106mph SS?
That's so funny he said that at the end, because I went in to buy a driver shaft and I talked to the club builder. He said the exact same thing. Weights might effect you, but graphite is graphite, steel is steel. Basically saying, their is no magic shaft.
Very fun Mr SG. The autoflex I have tried out are long 46-47”. What length are the shafts in the video.
So what specs would I be looking at in the Motore F3 or the EF CB if my swing speed is 90 mph? Your average swinger.
Are you swinging a regular flex shaft that is 40 grams with a 100 mph swing speed? Aren’t most shafts in the 60-70 grams for that swing speed and stiff shafts?

Are we certain that Fujikura shaft is a Motore F3? I can’t find that anywhere. Can’t even find a picture of an all white Motore F3 55g shaft. I did randomly find a Motore F1 that’s all white. It looks like it was made for TaylorMade back in the day.
Since that F3 Motore is basically impossible to find now, what else in their line would be similar? How about an Fujikura Air Speeder 45-R?

Not at all discrediting these shafts but really wish that Matt was using the proper flex in his Autoflex. With his swing speed the 505 is not enough and should have been the 505X hence me questioning his problem with it going left.

People who spent $800 - $900 are realizing AF is a senior/reg light shaft disguised with pink paint.
Buying a $100 shaft and spending $700 on lessons would have made them better golfers than 1 shaft.
Yea. A.J. is the man. Take your clubs to his new shop and at least have your lies and angles checked. I have had new clubs from the best brands to be off. Golfer your best friend is the clubmaker.

When you say "get the tip on" what exactly do you mean?
Put an Autoflex in my Titleist TSi1 hoping for some distance gains. Unfortunately I didn’t get any improvement over the stock shaft. Very disappointed, but as they say, you can’t buy a golf game!
VERY important to get the swing weight to a d1 or D0. To do that you need to increase the grip weight to get that to happen. a D2,3,4,5 and its not the same thing.

Their secret is that their marketing department was able to sell a $50 shaft for $800. You have be honest though, before autoflex, no one would have recommended anyone with a 100+ mph swing speed with a 40g lite flex shaft.
Although I'll never pay $800 for a shaft, I'll admit that the marketing is pretty clever. They know trying to sell the idea that an A flex shaft could benefit higher speed swingers that it would never even leave the ground. They basically rebranded the A flex to be more appealing to a broader market AND spin it like a magic secret shaft with an $800 pricetag.. to bad they got figured 😜

Matt, you normally play Stiff. You’ve gone down a flex to regular in the attempt to replicate the Autoflex. If a guy plays regular, he’d need to go down to A flex?
So, save your money, as it’s the person swinging the club vs the tech that makes the ball go!

Are you sure you don't mean the EF CB 5.0 5R? Which is 52 grams and still 6 grams less than the Motore? The CB 40 5.0 is only 45 grams. The 505x and xx are both in 50s. Can't imagine any hitter at 105+ ss hitting a 45 gram shaft and certainly dont see how it compares to the Motore.
Yea, no way I would pay $800 for a shaft. That costs more than my complete set of irons! Besides I am not that good (about a 10 handicapper)...but I do have fun!
