ive had gy6 scooters for a while now with two kinds of big bore kits running standard carbs with different jets, from my experience it's most important to religiously change oil and keep it clean - 200 miles when you're putting in new rings/change bore/with a fresh engine, every 1.5k miles after that at the latest. check valve lash ever so often, that's easy to do and to adjust.
replace the intake boot and the two o-rings there if it's getting old, make sure the spacer between head and intake isn't cracked. check vac line for proper fit on the intake boot and the fuel petcock.

I beat the hell out of my modified Jonway (because it was free and out of a junkyard) but I used to have a velocity mp50 that I would take apart to the bare chassis every saturday and deep clean, with a carb clean, valve check, trans check, and oil change. I got to where I could take that whole bike down, do a complete service, and have it back on the road in about 2 hours. Anytime I get an engine, no matter what the problem is, I do a full top end service, so if it doesnt run, and it has spark, it needs rings.

I’m very grateful for the shout brotha!! I’m also very glad i helped you get that thing going so well! What size jets are you running in that carb? I actually returned my mikuni (which was the same as yours that i was helping you dial in) i actually ordered a 19 mm genuine OKO carb from Taiwan; it’s a hell of a lot smoother on the low end than the mikuni was for me atleast, i returned the carb i had before because i thought it was a genuine mikuni but if you look on the box it actually says maikuni lol. I didn’t like how it was a knockoff so i sent it back while i could. Amazon took it no problem. the 19mm OKO carb i ordered came with a 95 main and i swapped the pilot from a 42 down to a 38, i didn’t plug the line for the power jet like i told you to do before and i ran the needle right in the middle and i am having a lot better of a time riding it. the carb i ordered is a pwk like yours but from what I’ve gathered it’s a lot easier to tune in and it’s a very known carburetor for ATV’s/dirt bikes. Anyway I have the mixture screw turned out about 1 full turn maybe 1-1/4 and it’s running a whole lot better for me. I did have to put a throttle restriction at about 3/4 throttle so i don’t have as much breakup and i believe that is because i am running a 50 mm piston with 69 mm valves and at full throttle it’s just not doing what it’s supposed to be doing but after riding it for over 50 miles and checking the plug over and over, i have confirmed my engine is not running too rich or too lean that way it’s just about perfect and totally runnable for now as i keep making tweaks over the winter i won’t have to worry about burning up my piston/valves from a lean condition or detonation. I’ll keep you updated but as it sits i have recorded it going 45 mph a bit ago. I can feel it though when i get the top end issue figured out it’s gonna be going even faster I’m going for 55 I’ve seen videos of other 50cc gy6’s with my 50mm bore and everything dialed in perfect cruising at 61mph so i know it’s possible! We’ll figure it out eventually bro. Like you said. Just gotta keep messing with them and talking to the community! I’m glad to help and I’m open to chat about these things anytime you want man💪

Absolutely dude🤘 I bet mine is the knock off too🤣 either way, It's better than stock. I'll keep the other carb you mentioned in mind! Maybe I'll buy one in the spring. It's getting cold now, so I'm going to have to start working on the other toys. But for real thank you for the info. You aren't helping just me! Everyone that sees this is going to be better off.

Your fuel problem up top might be because your fuel petcock (fuel pump) is too restrictive. I removed mine completely, and just plumbed the gas tank straight to the carb, and it got rid of the break up at the top end for me. I have a 139qmb 50cc 4t with the 21mm PWK flat slide carb. 35 idle jet (about 3-4 turns out), 102 main jet, 2nd richest on the needle clip. 7g sliders. Currently mine goes 38mph on a slight uphill, ~45mph on a flat with no wind. I think GPS verified 45mph is about the max you can hope for out of this platform.

    On the 2nd Scooter:
It MAY be slow due to the CVT setup to include the final gear ratio.
Put the rear wheel in the air and see if it the engine performs better w/o Rider Weight. If it does, then check the CVT and gearing. If it does not, then the engine may have a compression/vacuum leak or worse.
    On the 3rd TaoTao:
the fact that you had to covercarbstart it(I did this Friday nite), do a valve lash, check that the carb is getting fuel( pull the fuel in line from the carb and Crank it) clean the carb and ensure the innards are in and not backwards or missing. But BEFORE you do all that, check that your stator is putting out the correct power. Ensure that you are running a 8 Pole Stator with an Eight Pole Magneto. Test your CDI, it was blowing fuses so the electric system may have validation issues.
Also, if the battery charger is not made to start while charging, this may trigger performance anxieties. It is POSSIBLE, that it was blowing fuses because the Amperage from the charger exceeded the Amperage the scoot pulls to start OR,
GOTO the paragraph where the word "before" is all capitilized.
Love your Channel! I was literally watching the video of the Gear Upgrade yous did before opening up the gearbox on my 139QMB Long case w/12" Rear wheel.(still not opened)
May you do a vid on Gears? Maybe pull some stock gears from long and short cases, the difference between the big 8 and small 8 and 52 gears? And how to calculate final drive ratio for 50 -100cc 4T Scooters?
Most of the vids that came up in my search skipped the stock setup and what is swappable or were about 172cc and up.

im glad people are starting to think scooters are cool lately. i have a Honda Dio 110 and its absolute fun to rip around the city and small backroads, hey even twisties. (its an absolute nightmare in freeway since it redlines at 70mph at 11000rpm) the thing is like a gokart but wayyy more fun. plus it kills everything on mpg
ur TaoTao is nice man. it needs some work but it'll be all worth it when done. (*little tip: if you drill some holes on the clutch bell, just little ones on the part where the shoe makes contact with the bell. they will act as an escape route for leftover debris or clutch shavings so it doesnt pile up inside and cause slipage. since its a dry clutch after all. - or not do it, up to you. its just one of those things i saw the guys in thailand did to their scooters. do you know they drag race these things out there?)

Just subscribed. Really think you should adjust the valves on the scoot that won't start. Valves are to tight can't get enough compression..... considering the low miles pretty sure that's it. Valve lash is very important during the break in.

  • @sammy13ificationable
    @sammy13ificationable Před měsícem

Check the valve lash. They might be too tight, if they hold the valves open itll be hard to start (requiring extra choke at the least) and it wont make power because it wont have compression (since itll be leaking out of the valves)

I have a question... I know every country gets different models, and names. But when I brought TNT Roma (10 inch wheel, 49cc 2 stroke scooter) a couple of weeks ago, it was simply to make the 15km trip to work a little quicker with the bull-manure traffic and parking situation. Turns out the 45kph top speed is dangerous when cars what to do 55-60kph in a 50kph zone, and all the cars want to push you off the road, and cut you off! But naturally I tested it out before the first trip to work. and then researched the restrictor. and being a car mechanic, I waited till the end of the work day, and ripped that stupid little spacer out as fast as I could... which not only made it capable of keeping up with traffic making it much safer, but meant the throttle didn't have to be pegged 100% of the time reducing the fuel consumption as well.
now to the question... Does anyone in America know what the TNT Roma is? does anyone know which Yamaha 2 stroke engine it is a copy of? This thing needs more power, and there is no information I can find that would reduce the chances of spending huge amounts on parts, and literally twice that in shipping costs just to find out they are for the wrong engine and then there is the exchange rate, what costs you $100 in the USA, ends up costing $600 by the time it gets here. so ordering the wrong parts is not an option!

hey, i have a gy6 kymco agility that i used as a daily (i use my other scooter as replacement now) for some months and it stopped working. I replaced the spark plug, stator, cdi box and the coil about 1000km ago. My problem is that it gets no spark anymore. first it cut off whenever my blinker and brake lights turn on, continued to ride it for one day and then it lost all spark. You got any idea where to look for?. both my fuses are intact, and i already tried bypassing my ignition switch, but no luck... It sounds to me like a bad ground but what could cause this/where should i look now??

Try to look around the wire harness for shorts or cuts in a wire. If it started with brakes and the blinkers, I would start there and work your way back through the wiring. You will probably have to remove some body panels to get a good look. Sorry that you have to chase gremlins. You got this🤘
