Joe and I have been nothing short of ecstatic at how well our first cover of this was recieved. When I saw this come up in the top 20 video game songs voted on by you guys, I was at a complete loss on how I could top or even change what we did the first time around. I knew I had to try and get Joe on again, but I came to him emptyhanded at how to go about it. I thought, maybe we do a more studio style vibe with it and just redo it with better chops 3 years later or something. He got the idea to make it in English now that the translated lyrics were released and I was really excited to put it together. Joe put together some killer lyrics all by himself from the perspective of Nemesis, and yet again, nailed the performance. So happy with what we made here!
I was very excited to tackle this again and was curious how it'd sound after three years (and a broken thumb) later. I was actually surprised that the bridge rhythm guitar part that was insanely hard before came much more easy to me this time around, but the arpeggios in the middle almost felt more difficult than they did before. I learned quite a lot from revisiting this and hope it's still enjoyable to listen to to those who enjoyed the first cover.

Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love. This was a blast for me as always. I took a lot of time and care re-writing the English lyrics to fit within the tune, while still carrying the intention of Nemesis. It was a great challenge for me lyrically and collaborating with Jules was a treat. I'll make a little video talking about my experience with this one on my channel and release it soon.
The English lyrics are awesome! I love how you tied it back to "God Shattering Star" at the end 🤩 can definitely see a lot of effort went into it, thanks for creating such an amazing re-imagining of this song 😍

I can't believe one of my favorite FamilyJules covers got a rerelease I can actually sing-along too. This is the best day ever.
It's a dream come true for me.
For anyone who didn't read the description: the lyrics are an adapted version of the translated official lyrics, done by Joe Zieja. While there have been some changes for the song to flow/sound better, these lyrics excellently convey the meaning of the original. God-Shattering Star was always a call to arms by Nemesis, rallying the people with propaganda. So if you were ever curious of what the lyrics meant, here's your answer!
In short; Not a literal translation, but a singable translation
The original is a bit more poetic, though.

Tbh, I would have followed Nemesis, if we ever get a prequel game I would play the Nemesis route first.

Voice Acting and singing are fairly similar especially with the help of a good audio technician. You do music/performance oriented stuff you tend to pick up some level of singing talent

Probably because you don't understand gibberish-ized Latin that the original is in haha. But the name alone God Shattering Star makes it clear is the theme of Nemesis and not Claude too, as Nemesis is the one actively antigod and successful god slayer at that too
I heard the song before playing the part of the game where it appears so I thought it was Claude's song. I only realised it was Nemesis' song when the "DUN DUN" sound played over his cutscene in the tombs 😅

Adding lyrics to songs with none is quickly becoming one of my favorite things.
It's so interresting to have it be so heroic for Nemesis too. That must certainly be how he and his followers must have seen himself.
The song always had lyrics. The language was made up from a combo of real languages (Latin, Norse and Greek if I'm remembering correctly) it was only recently that IS revealed the official translation to Japanese which was then translated to English by fans and adapted for this video to be singable

Hats off to Joe and Annie, these lyrics literally gave me chills. The line "Like the colors of the sun / Dragons blood in rivers run" is so fucking badass. Great job, genuinely. You did a great job depicting Nemesis as a character through the words.
I just imagine a bard/necromancer singing this to summon his legion of warriors against the leader of a island nation and his mentor who happens to be a god.

I know that this song is about the only characterization Nemesis actually gets… But on the other hand, Claude belting this out with his amazing chops during the battle is a hilarious and awesome image.
well if you really think about it their world got invaded by some alien dragon claiming to be god and then created a bunch of dragons to be her children and decided to now rule humanity, their people instead worshiped ancestors and so they were against the church, sure the dragons helped their development but that doesn't justify servitude, and sure they created weapons of mass destruction but considering this alien dragon basically destroyed the very world by flooding it one cannot say their fear was entirely unfounded, it was the alien dragon who invaded this world in the first place, nobody ordered it to come here and give science/magic to humans so if it wants to claim godhood and not have people fight back then onus of diplomacy is on the alien dragon not on the humans, who can blame then for becoming extremists after being forced to hide underground for centuries and then being in disguise for even longer, specially while watching their own race being tainted by the blood of their enemies and reduced to primitive fools who worship the very thing that enslave them, I would say that their reaction was quite reasonable.
@@colorpg152 I love Edelgard too. However, it doesn’t justify Thales being a total asshole eagerly manipulating the situation to seize power. He manipulated Nemesis and the Ten. He manipulated Dimitri and Edelgard, the latter personally. And to be fair to Rhea, losing your entire family and having their blood and bones crafted into weapons, including your mother, would drive anyone to madness. And not just because that’s what happens when a dragon gets too old in Fire Emblem.
I love how this comment about claude memeing this song on nemesis somehow spawned replies arguing TWSITD's justifications for atrocities committed in the game.

The original song has lyrics, they are in a made up language but they are there. This wasn't a lyricless song.

This dropped at the perfect time, because I was finally able to pull the Wind Festival Claude in Fire Emblem Heroes, this morning! Once again, I have Claude and all of his alts, and I get to celebrate with this beast of a cover!
Those lyrics rock. It sounds like Nemesis rallying up his forces to unite under him in order to conquer Fódlan and make justice against it's invaders that wronged them. He embodies the spirit and the charisma of a leader capable of conquering an entire continent and doing it for a sense of nationalism and feeling justified about it.
@@SaintBoot As far as I know, this lyrics are made up by FJ, but they represent Nemesis very well. Especially because it takes into account part of the character's lore (Nemesis was a somewhat noteworthy bandit in a time when Fódlan had been apparently invaded by foreign forces. TWSITD approached him with promises of power so that he could free his land from the invaders, and in doing so, becoming a ruler). So the lyrics fit him so much.

Three House continues to be one of my favorite gaming experiences thus far. It carried me through the quarantine, introduced me to Fire Emblem franchise, and consumed a not inconsiderate portion of my life. This song was just what I needed to rally my imagination, thank you soo much for this. And thank you Joe Zieja for being a devoted cast member that gives me life.

As a musical critic, my reaction was full-body goosebumps and a blown mind Joe is NOT allowed to say he can't sing EVER AGAIN. FamilyJules made, as usual, a BREATHTAKING cover of it, and the lyrics work perfectly with the fact that it's Nemesis who's supposed to be singing, but both of them turned it to Claude's own song.
The original version was incredible, but this took it to greater, almost unreachable highs. I'm going to be listening to this for A VERY LONG TIME. Bravo. 10/10.

I beat Three Houses for the first time back in July (Verdant Wind, of course). I listened to Jules and Joe's cover of GSS for the first time back when it came out, but I purposefully avoided listening to the original until I played the game myself, and it felt so satisfying to hear it after so long. I watched Joe's playthrough afterwards as well, and it was a blast. Seeing this in my sub box was a pleasant surprise!
