    great video very informative,my dads been a trucker my whole life and ive spent basically my childhood between trucks, some stuff i was thought is not to just put the legs dont but try to put some pressure on them, no need to crank it hard just enough to relieve some presure and something else REALLY IMPORTANT he told me is that, with empty trialers its not that important but with loaded trailers you want to make sure to drop your truck suspension after rolling forward a little bit when the fifth wheel is out of reach from the kingpin that way the suspension doesnt just rise quickly and the kingpin tears something, these trailers have a lot of flex in the nose, that + the suspension rising up quickly because it lost the weight it had on it can catch a kingpin on the chasis, some trucks in his company have a few nicks on the crossmember at the back of the chassis because of that i guess if you have sliders on the back of your chassi it would be okay but i never saw them fitted to any truck in spain, i guess this goes bck to when trucks had no air suspension and you had to ram your truck into the trailer to attach it

      @a1trainingservices  Před rokem +1

      Your correct is what your saying, however at this stage of training we simply leave the cab at the same ride hight and induce the use of adjusting the suspension later on in training. Thanks for a great comment 👍

      When i did my class 1 in 2009, I was taught to lower the suspension after coming off the kingpin and to raise it on the way back on. Raising the suspension when coupling reduces the risk of damaging the trailer legs or overshooting the kingpin. Trailers can be at slightly different heights owing to whether the driver who left it there wound the legs all the way or left them a couple of inches off the ground when they uncoupled. If you go for a driving assessment, ALWAYS ask the assessor what the official company procedure is with regards to shunting.

    • @a1trainingservices
      @a1trainingservices  Před rokem

      @@raithrover1976 your correct in what you say, however when we are teaching students for their 3a test we simplify it by not adjusting the suspension. Once the 3a is passed we will then teach the use of adjusting the suspension.

    That was an excellent video with a good narrative. If I was being hyper-critical, I would suggest that the air and electrics could have been reconnected a bit more tidily. If you had to make a tight turnaround there's a good chance they'd get caught on each other and overstretched. I'd actually have made the point on the video about reconnecting as tidily as possible for that very reason.

    Thanks for such informative videos Sir ...
    Just a request please show zooming in videos or pics of coupling equipments , I mean it would be even more helpful to understand all procedure...
    2nd query is about how to make sure everything is done perfectly, I mean in cars we get alert if even any door , tailgate or bonnet isn't closed perfectly so considering this trailer job is more dangerous then is there any electronic device to assure everything is good ... Any such technologies in new trucks!!!
    Please make a video (longer like this one) to explain dashboard n internal controls of trucks ...
    Sorry for asking so many questions (considering my username 😅) but as I talked about patience so how you deal with students who lose patience and get irritated after some time ( read in a book how human brain has to do 100s of calculations for driving a car) so considering it's a big truck means tooo much calculations then social media has reduced our attention span n tolerance, then seems it's haaaaaaard. . so what's solution for this.
    Once again thanks and sorry for such questions

      Hi thanks for the comment! It would be great if there was something like that around but unfortunately I’m not aware of anything like that, new trucks have more technology but nothing to help with coupling and uncoupling.

    Pull off the king pin 🛑 STOP and drop all air out of air bags on drive axle ie lower air suspension, watch trailer very carefully and gently pull forward, check trailer is not sinking and get out of your suspicious as legs may have failed / you left them up or ground had given way. If you get no resistance and the lorry pulls forward easily the. Trailer is landed ... Pull out reset air suspension and no drama.
    DO NOT EVER PULL OFF A LOAD TRAILER LIKE THIS BLOKE YOU WILL GET YOUR ARSE KICKED.
