  • @johnlewis9158
    @johnlewis9158 Před 8 lety +3

You have to watch Carlito's way several times to appreciate how good he was in that film. The way he plays the ex gangster who has had enough is beautiful. He plays the part of a man who no longer has it in him hurt anyone anymore to perfection and as the film carries on the way you see is new found humanity peeking through is a beautiful thing to see. Even though he does have to kill a few people at the end. Which does rather contradict what i have just wrote

Of the ones I've seen: Performances
    1) The Godfather Part 2
    2) Dog Day Afternoon
    3) The Godfather
    4) Scent of a Woman
    5) Scarface
    6) Heat
    7) Donnie Brasco
    8) The Godfather Part 3
8 is good. 5 to 7 are great, and 1 to 4 are all Oscar-worthy. How he's only won one is beyond me. He might just be my favourite actor.
    MOVIE RANKING:
    1) The Godfather (The best film ever; my favourite)
    2) Heat (3rd favourite film; probably the most underrated film ever)
    3) The Godfather part 2 (11th favourite film; a remarkable achievement)
    4) Dog Day Afternoon (One of the best films of the 70s)
    5) Donnie Brasco
    6) Scarface
    7) Scent of a woman
    8) The Godfather Part 3 (Good, but not close to the original 2).

From 4:04 -4:12 listen to how Pacinos voice got so much deeper from Dog day afternoon to Godfather 2. Hard to believe its the same actor, no? No wonder Francis Ford Coppolla had to beg the money men on the film to let Pacino do Michael Corleone. They thought he was too sweet for the part. I can see why? He went up 3 notches from that film to Godfather 1 and another 2 notches in Godfather 2. Both Godfathers solidified him for life in Hollywood.

Good observation! I believe he still smokes to this day as well. Unlike Frank Sinatra, smoking did a lot to take a very almost femininine sounding man and turn him into a hollywood giant. Id trade places with pacino right now, im guessing he took 10 yrs off his life easy with smoking, who wouldnt give 10 yrs to have lived what he lived thru and een die tomorrow. He had to have over 40 yrs of heaven on earth as he was in films and especially theater long before the Godfather!!! A blessed and talented soul. After hearing him talk about Fredo, his mentor in real life, we should all have had fathers like Al. What a mans, man.

Good list but instead of the dancing scene in scent of a woman, i'd have put the speech at the school or the scene where chris odonell stops him from committing suicide and pacino goes crazy. The say hello to my little friend part for scarface. The great "youre out of order" scene from and justice for all. Pacino and deniro face to face conversation in Heat. The ending part of Scarecrow where he goes nuts and faints. A few other scenes from other films. Maybe a top 15 would have been more appropriate for an actor with the body of work of Pacino. I respect the order of your list, is really good, but I think Serpico is too high, besides And just for all... is not here, a part from that is perfect. Donnie Brasco, Insomnia, The Insider, Godfather 3, Sea of love, Any Given Sunday, Angels in America and You don't know Jack are behind this top and I think this all for Al fucking Pacino...good top cheers.

Pacino is a master. But would anyone disagree that his performance in 1:15-1:23 was rediculously over the top. As if Pacino snorted too much coke before the scene, and I doubt he does drugs at all.

I didn't like Al Pacino's performance in Heat. I didn't think it worked at all and I don't see why people love it. I'm thinking Insomnia should've replaced it and I would agree with this list. His Scarface performance is overrated too.

Heat (1995) is Pacino’s all-time greatest film. Yes better than Godfather, Serpico and Scarface.

Al Pacino overacted in almost every scene in Scent of a woman. My List would have been-
    1) Godfather II
    2) Dog Day Afternoon
    3) GlenGarry Glen Ross
    4) Scarface
    5) Godfather I
    6) Serpico
    7) Angels in America
    8) Carlito's way
    9) Heat
    10) And Justice for all

Scent of a Woman is #1, are you crazy? While Dog Day Afternoon/Godfather should be #1 and #2. Devil's Advocate should NOT even be in the top 10. This person is not a true Al Pacino fan, sorry.

    • @TheKyronus
      @TheKyronus Před 10 lety +1

I disagree slightly. I think "Scent of a Woman" should be number one, but not that part. The part where he has the speech at the end should be. Thats just my opinion though

Well, thank you Kyron for being so civil and nice in your response!:) Yes, the part where he has the face-off w/ Chris O'Donnell saying "Im in the DARK here!!!" is very good. (Everything Pacino does is excellent.) That movie isn't anywhere near my favorite of Al: Dog Day Afternoon and Godfather were absolutely mesmerizing. A master class in BECOMING the character. And making it look easy.

Yeah God father should be on top.
