I think he was excellent in "Dog Day Afternoon." Considering the subject matter, everything about that movie was on point. Al should get a special award just for his hair.
Pacino is the man. My father used to watch these movies with me and my brothers growing up all the time. Not sure if they still do but they have marathons of Godfather on amc and I still today, watch the entire series in one sitting lol
I'm not gonna say this should be in the 10 but bringing it up cause it's yet to be mentioned. Pacino as Big Boy in Dick Tracy. "I don't care if Tracy puts one and one together. No matter to me, you're still working for me. You're on my side you're not out. You're not out, when you are dead then you are out"
- Scarecrow - The Godfather: Part II - Dog Day Afternoon - Scarface - The Godfather - Scent of a Woman - ...And Justice For All. - You Don't Know Jack - Serpico - Phil Spector
You have to watch Carlito's way several times to appreciate how good he was in that film. The way he plays the ex gangster who has had enough is beautiful. He plays the part of a man who no longer has it in him hurt anyone anymore to perfection and as the film carries on the way you see is new found humanity peeking through is a beautiful thing to see. Even though he does have to kill a few people at the end. Which does rather contradict what i have just wrote
Which is a beautiful ending. It’s kind of paradoxical isn’t it? He wants to get out and not do these things but that’s all he knows. Those are the only people that he knows.
Lists like these are always very subjective, so nothing wrong with your selection. In my list however I would add Al Pacino's furious performance as Shylock in "The Merchant of Venice". Let's not forget he always was a great theatre actor and stage performer :-)
For some reason no-one ever seems to put Al Pacino's performance in Angels In America in these top ten lists. I don't know why, because it's definitely one of his best.
1. Godfather 2 2. Dog Day Afternoon 3. Serpico 4. Glengarry Glen Ross 5. Scarface 6. Godfather 7. ...And Justice For All 8. Angels in America 9. Carlito's Way 10. Dick Tracy Now feel free to call me an idiot
In HEAT is fu**ing great too !!! The point is that it is hard to list and classify him, just enjoy. Serpico and dog day afternoon are brilliant, godfather is magic, and so on....
Thank U for putting Scarface at the top - he shoulda gotten an Oscar for that - for several of his performances, really. Saw Scent of a Woman for the 3rd time the other day and it totally blows me away.
Why the hell should Scarface be number one? I love Pacino but his accent sucks. The movie itself is nothing but one drug fueled testosterone scene with incredible amount of violence. What else is there? Scarface belongs on a bottom 10 list.
@@briang6994 In your opinion.... I really liked his accent and for an Italian American guy to imitate a Cuban accent he did it pretty well, there's no denying about that
Good list. Of course, he's good in everything, but I particularly thought his performance in And Justice For All was his absolute best. :) Especially the scene after the helicopter crash lands and the court scene "you're out of order."
Agree and that’s all Scarface is for me. Don’t really see the appeal in it. But when he screams in moments of extreme emotion when the scene warrants it, he’s the best in the business. Look at scent of a woman and and justice for all.
No way does his performance as Tony Montana top his performances as Michael Corleone from Godfather 1 and 2. Those are the ultimate Pacino roles, along with Sonny from Dog Day Afternoon.
10. And Justice for all 9. Scarface 8. Glengary Glen Ross 7. Dog Day Afternoon 6. Scent of a Woman 5. Carlito's Way 4. Insomnia 3. Scarecrow 2. Serpico 1. Godfather Part II

How he's only won one is beyond me. He might just be my favourite actor. MOVIE RANKING: 1) The Godfather (The best film ever; my favourite) 2) Heat (3rd favourite film; probably the most underrated film ever) 3) The Godfather part 2 (11th favourite film; a remarkable achievement) 4) Dog Day Afternoon (One of the best films of the 70s) 5) Donnie Brasco 6) Scarface 7) Scent of a woman 8) The Godfather Part 3 (Good, but not close to the original 2).

Serpico is one of his greatest, his performances in And Justice For All and Donnie Brasco are great too and should have been in the top 10 over Scent Of A Woman, in fact a Top 10 is not enough for such an amazing talent like him
@@jasiekel86 why would you pick scent of a woman to take off the list. His role as colonel slade was one of his best roles. If they need to remove one from the list, should be Scarface. But I agree, and justice for all should be on the list.
From 4:04 -4:12 listen to how Pacinos voice got so much deeper from Dog day afternoon to Godfather 2. Hard to believe its the same actor, no? Good list but instead of the dancing scene in scent of a woman, i'd have put the speech at the school or the scene where chris odonell stops him from committing suicide and pacino goes crazy. The say hello to my little friend part for scarface. The great "youre out of order" scene from and justice for all. Pacino and deniro face to face conversation in Heat. The ending part of Scarecrow where he goes nuts and faints. A few other scenes from other films. Maybe a top 15 would have been more appropriate for an actor with the body of work of Pacino. No list would be perfect.
1-Scarface, 2-Godfather two, 3-Serpico, 4-Dog day afternoon, 5-Godfather one, 6-Panic in needle park, 7-Donnie Brasco, 8-Scent of a woman, 9-Carlitos way, 10-Crusing.
