This game is far from a masterpiece. It’s way more of a grind fest than botw. Same karoks, redundant shrines, the weapons are worse, adding on to them is tedius and doesn’t even add much. The caves are boring af. The lowest tier enemies kill you with one shot, it’s the same exact game with worse abilities. It’s honestly not fun and exciting like botw. It’s just, a waste.
@@heffe4257 Ok, so from things you’ve said like “exact same as Breath of the Wild,” I am going to assume you’ve played an hour of it and decided it was horrible just because you presumably have a bias against Zelda or Nintendo or something along those lines. A lot of these criticisms are just not valid. I will give you koroks. They could have done something to make the reward for them a little better. But as someone who has done over half of the shrines, I can tell you that they are not redundant for three reasons:
1. The aesthetic is 100x more visually appealing and pleasing
2. The music isn’t annoying and is quite pleasant
3. (This is the biggest reason) The puzzles are INFINITELY more interesting and engaging than the last game. Seriously, shrines are actually good in this game, unlike Breath of the Wild. Sure, you’ll come across a dumb shrine every now and then, but the quantity of those is significantly less than BotW.
The fuse system is not at all tedious just because of how quick and easy it is to fuse stuff. If you think going into your inventory and dropping an item is a lot of work, you need to get a life. It has improved the weapon system significantly for two reasons:
1. You’re actually motivated to attack monster camps. I can’t tell you how many times I saw some powerful monsters and decided to fight them because I wanted their horns.
2. Because of the fact that you are fighting enemies constantly, you are stocking up a bunch of horns. Not only this, but the “decayed” weapons are thrown at you like candy. Weapon degradation is much less of a problem now, simply because you ALWAYS have the materials you need to make a new, good weapon.
Because of these reasons, the weapon system is actually kinda good now. The caves are extremely fun to explore for three reasons:
1. There are a ton of valuable gems and materials that will get you a lot of rupees
2. There is something called a “bubble gem.” You can trade these in to Kilton’s brother Kolton to get a bunch of interesting armor and other goodies.
3. You can randomly find cool new sets of armor if you explore thoroughly enough.
Breath of the Wild was a very easy game. The fact that you are complaining about difficulty is not only hilarious but also a skill issue if you’re dying to the easiest enemies in the game.
You lost me when you said this game’s abilities are worse than the last game. All of them present incredibly unique and interesting puzzle opportunities. Ultrahand alone will go down as one of the most revolutionary mechanics in video game history.
I know for a fact that you’ve either not played the game or you’ve barely touched it. And do not lie to me and say that you have 10+ hours. Because based on what you’re saying, I and nobody else will believe you.
@@FluffyMustache The music is awesome. That is one of the things that improved, absolutely. I’m with Tulin now going towards the storm. It’s actually getting better. I think I love/gated botw when I first stared playing but then played it like 5-6 times through. A lot of the stuff is the same though. The abilities are growing on me.

Yea the ending basically got spoiled just from a single frame on a thumbnail, which has me super pissed, but at the same time without spoiling, I had a feeling what happened would be undone

exactly, I don't expect the game to be perfect, no game is . However, even if you don't like the game a 60 is too low. That's practically saying it's a mediocre game. At worst a 75 or 80.
He didn't like botw so it's was more of the same for him. He wanted classic Zelda....you can tell he's salty but only gave it a 6 bcuz he knows it's good even if he doesn't like it

It was so hard dodging all the spoilers but I did it! I did a good job.
I am thankful for every youtuber who provided Tears of the Kingdom content without spoilers. I will run to the store as soon as reasonable tomorrow. The wait is over and it's time to embark on a new journey and a new adventure.

As someone who's basically pieced together the beginning section, I don't see how they can say it doesn't have the 'novel' magic the first one has. There's amazing enemy variety, the new abilities are so creative, and the sense of familiarity, in my opinion, is more akin to Majora's Mask, in that, you experience some familiar faces, but in a new light. I think the reviews are underselling it. Honestly.
Bro this game is the most unorganized unbalanced game i've ever played. They literally just threw in a bunch of random puzzles all over the map in random places and made the game way harder
Regarding the technical stuff. Digital Foundry put out a great review covering that (apparently with the update.) They said the framerate is almost completely stable, also load times are notably better compared to BotW. Plus some other nice technical improvements.

Spoiler free to most just means no story spoilers but then they'll spoil all the gameplay mechanics and surprises.

I wonder if the reason some of those outlets have slightly lower scores is because they wanted an ENTIRELY new Zelda game instead of a sequel? Because I feel like some of those reviews contradict each other.
Yes, that is definitely part of the issue. Some of the reviews were even explicit about this: because it is a sequel to Breath of the Wild, those reviewers believe it cannot surpass Breath of the Wild. Of course, this reasoning is not sound.

Everything comes down to the quality of the side quests and lore-building; I put well over 1000 hours into Breath of the Wild, and nearly 500 into Age of Calamity. I've explored every nook and crany of this map in exhaustive detail, so much so, that each tiny area and secret is burned vividly into my consciousness. If Nintendo manages to populate these spaces with meaningful characters and additions that expand the lore established by BotW, I will be ecstatic. But if it's just procedural, sand-box shenanigans, I'm going to burn out quick.

Lol at the one outlet for giving 6/10 because the reviewer is mentally stuck to the traditional Zelda formula and isn't able to adapt to change. Personally I just can't see Nintendo going back to the traditional formula, which is very restricted and linear in comparison to the new open air style and I'm very happy about that.

Notice that only one of the four most common complaints has anything to do with the game itself in its current state. I'm excited to play what's looking like one of the best games of all time.

generic complaint. One that they developed as soon as the game was shown and one that stays. The comparison for this is when Final fantasy 16 comes out and the complaint was "Its not turn based so its not similar enough to class final fantasy games."

I’m a little salty that they released the game in Australia instead of releasing it in other countries but it comes out tomorrow so I might as well quit my yapping.

I’m not spoiling anything. I’m about 10 hours in and what can I say? After years of waiting 👏Nintendo 👏 delivered👏 10/10 no questions. Even though it’s the same map, it feels different. There’s so much to do! I feel like I did when I first played BOTW. The magic is still there for me. I didn’t play BOTW an absurd amount. Just a little over 450 hrs, but I can say happily it’s just as good for me so far.
Lol only 450 hours I love that 🤣, I agree though compared to Botw I find myself stuck to my Nintendo switch just pouring hours into the game, I love Botw don't get me wrong but this game just simply delivers more on what I wished for from Botw, more flexibility in how you traverse the map, and well a little more story this time around unlike in the first game, and while memories are back I actually enjoyed the hunt for them more then in Botw seeing as their pretty hard to miss 😉
If people don’t want to be spoiled but are curious about reviews, I’ve found it helps to listen but not watch.
Would’ve loved if TOTK contained some elements of AOC combat.

After playing botw for the first time, open world rpg games has never felt the same. The amount of freedom and innovation that you can do in that game makes feel like other AAA open world games are somewhat boring. People will have their own taste of what a revolutionary open world rpg should be like but as for me TOTK rn is 20/10. As for story, there maybe other games with much deeper story than what totk presents but the fact that you can basically add your own touch to the already laid out story that the game presents is something other games will never achieve. How cool is it to tell that in trying to beat ganondorf you built a tank and rode your way to victory why another player achieve the same through other means. There maybe a laid out script, but the story is somewhat different for each and everyone. That whats makes this game amazing.
Can't wait to try my hand at the game tonight.

If TOTK came out first, there is little doubt it would be a 99/100 on Metacritic. There are only 2 things BOTW did better than TOTK:
1. It came out first, so all of this was revolutionary.
2. Dragons respawn in locations enabling you to farm their parts.
Aside from that, TOTK does literally everything either better or equally (after 55 hours played).
Yes, there are a couple disappointments. But I’ve accepted them since nearly everything else is amazing.
The main disappointment would be the dungeons, right?
@@Xf3rnaPlays Yes, that is my biggest disappointment. I was led to believe they were going to be a return to classic dungeons, but they are closer to glorified Beasts. Though it’s worth adding - at the time I made the post I had not been to a particular dungeon yet, and that one was a lot more fun.
Ngl, cant wait to play, but id have to avoid all the spoilers for a long while until i could afford the game. Many ppl cant afford it too rn as well, y'all steer clear.
But i should not be in a rush.... therefore im not.

It is safe to say that the Legend of Zelda is the best video game franchise of all time
