    Awesome video. I know it's quite uncharacteristic for Thomas to let a tank get like this, it must have been driving him crazy, but it was really nice to see your techniques for cleaning a tank that if i'm honest sometimes looks like mine...

    I have been looking for a video like this for a long time, and no one really touched on removing algae. Some did touch on it, but didn't actually show how to really do it. And you my friend, hit the nail on the head. You also showed what and how much of the chemicals to use on a tank of that size. Now I'm not that paranoid on starting up a nano tank to get started and learn before I go to my 29 long gallon tank. Great job!!!

    I might sound like I'm a tad on the dumb side, but since I've never used an algae magnet (I do it the old fashioned way) I always wondered if you had to keep repositioning the magnet to go by the corners. Now I see it just does it by itself. Just goes to show you can learn something everyday. Thanks, or should I say tanks Thomas. Now I must rush out and get me one of those algae magnets.

    Great video, thanks. I´m currently fighting algae on a weekly basis. Although I do my routine gravel cleaning, water change and excel dosing, I still cannot get rid algae completely. Worst part is the brown algae which is permanently sitting on some of my anubias. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Maybe remove completely the affected leafs?

    Heey, i like your videos and i specifically like the low tech stuff. i always loved fish keeping. starting off at my parents with a tiny goldfish pond to a koi pond. now living on my own with partner. i have talked my way in to have a indoors tiny pond for water for the cats. a basically simple nice aesthetic planter with substrate and pond plants. threw some guppies in and a pomp for circulation. No filtration. Since a half year now. water crystal clear plants going great. had a few dead onces at the start. now in stead of a few guppies we have +/- 60. And we never chanced water except replacing what the cats drunk. crystal clear water. now i found my way too set up a 75gallon. thats been standing empty for a while now. trying to get it sorted part for part.
    keep up the videos and i hope i can get the same luck as we have with our kiddy pond.

    I lost 2 red phantom tetras due to cotton mouth disease even if I treated them with seachem sulfaplex. I have a 30 gallon tank planted and well decorated. My plan was to put some pearl gouramis in. The only red tetra is doing fine as the black neon tetras and they eat when I give them food. I still medicate the aquarium. Should I stop the treatments or continue it? I also don't have a quarantine tank. What should I do before adding new fish?

    • @DrWoodyII
      @DrWoodyII Před 5 lety +3

      Same here. I let algae grow on all sides of my 80 tall except the front. The back outside is painted latex black so it doesn't show without close inspection. Not one person has ever commented about its growth and it has never caused any problems in the decades that I've had this aquarium. Most importantly, my fish seem to love it and it acts as a food reserve when I'm away.
