    Socialize with your fishes!
Get them used to have you around, handfeed them, and put a net in the aquarium once in a while as you do this, it is so advantageous to have fish that actually come to your hand and to your net when they are in the water, rather than having to chase them around and stress the fishes out when you need to catch them.

I dont know about other people, but... I like to count my fishes when I feed them and than freak out when I find that I'm missing one which than I proceed to recount or look around until I find the missing one... This is also made difficult when I have some fish that are nocturnal and likes to burrow into the substrate to sleep :(

Since I have 8 aquariums, I do partial water changes on half of them one week , then the other half the next week ... I also have a log book with a section for each aquarium to record when fish were added or moved out, what maintenance was done ( when was the last time I opened that canister filter ?) how much water was changed, when the light bulbs were changed, when fish spawned, when I added some plants or wood or other decor, when was that pre-filter sponge on the intake squeezed clean ? and so on ... these notes help to diagnose possible causes of problems as well as let you know how long you have kept a particular fish :)

Very solid suggestions! The following are habits I do differently. I do not wipe my acrylic daily for algae. This is a good idea. I bought pond snails recently and they are doing a very good job for the aquariums I grow plants in. I do not test my water. Since I do not test my water I do a weekly water change of around 30%, making sure I take the Chloramines out of the tap water by adding major brand tap water cure that contain sodium thiosulfate. I should have done research on Black Convicts. I have two 20 gallon tanks filled with those fish. I should quarantine my fish before adding them. The fish from the pet stores, (better if one buys the fish from an Aquarium Store), are terribly sickly! The rest of the suggestions are exactly what I have been practicing, and I have a Marineland Eclipse 2 that is still working, (new impeller, and new lighting system though).

I got my filter 3x used and unfortunately only noticed that it was broken too late. It works alright, but I can't take it apart and clean it. I've gotten a new filter now though, will install it tomorrow!

I do a 25 percent charge of water weekly cuz I have cichlid in one tank then I have Guppies and a picasimus in the other so instead of doing one bi-weekly and the other one by week I just do them at the same time and i feed them twice a day once in the morning and once before i turn out their light i love my fish babies

Never consistently scraped personally, the snails like it. But I've never had algae problems anyway

      Lucky!
I don't think I would want to do that cause I don't like the idea of scraping it all off and having it fly around in the clean water and it just drops somewhere else and breeds there

I always used to have algae... until I got a heated tank. Even in my coolwater, underfiltered koi aquarium I only get minimal spot algae.

This guy influenced my to get into the aquarium Hobby and how to start my first tank and I got so busy that I didn't get to watch his vidz and my aquarium went haywire but now I'm back and track and keenly watching his videos and I see what I've been doing wrong I once had 10 neon tetra and introduced some fancy guppies to my tank without quarantining them and one was apparently sick and it spread to my tetras it was disastrous I only saved two tetra. Moral of the story is always keep paying attention to your gurus and quarantine new fish

Same, got a curved 48 gal aquarium with a school of tiger barbs, golden barbs and clown loaches, and I'm running 2 50 gal aquaclear filters, keeping my temp at 24.5 C and have 0 ammonia and nitrate, and neutral ph levels. I top it off with a 1/4 water change every 2 weeks and a 2/3rd water change every 6 weeks. Basically the most clear water I have ever done. More clear then the rivers I fish in

Another tip is to have plants. They are super easy now days, and low light plants look great if you don't want to invest a lot of money on lighting. Plus a lot of plants like java fern and anubias do not require expensive substrate.

when quarinting anything I get, I'll go a bit further and even fill half the tank with water from the tank it's going into the perams are as close to what it's going to be to cause less issues upon moving it later.

I prepare salt water days before water change day to make parameters more stable on D-Day.
Also I always have a minimum 30% of aquarium saltwater ready all the time in case an emergency happens to do large Water Change.
