The Greek Cypriots are ancestor's of Greeks that left Greece many years ago , came on their ships, and heavily populated the (at that time) practically empty island of Cyprus. They stayed Greeks, and they are still Greeks today even though Cyprus is an independent country. George Michael's Father is Greek Cypriot. He moved to England and married an English woman and they had George. Is George Michael half Greek? For the above reasons YES HE IS. CASE CLOSED :)
George's father is from Cyprus,as for himself, well he is English. It is pretty clear that he does not speak Greek, and I read on BBC that he stated "I never had any connection with being Greek, except how hairy I am". Anyways George Michael is a great and talented singer.
@amazingdany While I agree with you,all his albums were good.Listen Without Prejudice also highlighted what a great songwriter he really is.But then again Faith era was when he really peaked in terms of commercial success.

From the title of this post I assumed George was going to show us some bi-lingual skills. He sounded like a British tourist in France embarrassingly trying to order something in a shop with pigeon French learned at school. George was born in East Finchley and his mother is English. I know Greece doesn't have much to shout about in the way of international celebrity but he seemed rather more British than Greek to me.
Mark Markos Also Peter Andre is Australian, Galfianakis Callas and Aniston are American. I've heard of a few of the others but Demis Roussos and Nana Mouskouri are hardly David Bowie or Adele now are they? Lol
i have been finding interviews where he says a lot about, growing up greek, son of an immigrant, being the boy in a greek family. he felt the influence and i'm sure it could be one of the reasons he bonded with andrew being half Italian/egyptian...in a class room with a lot of fair english students. also, george said, later in life he found out from his mum that she found out her mum was jewish who had married a gentile so actually his blood is mostly greek with jewish and most likely his grand dad was english...being born in london makes him british.
he felt greek if you look at a lot of his interview, even went to greek school as a child. babtized greek, went to cyrpess as a teen...he felt it for sure, even in one video he says growing up a male greek , had an upper hand than his sisters...so what if he couldn't speak 100 percent.
Maybe because he's British. Born in Britain, raised by a British mother and schooled in Britain. His father is from Cyprus as people know, but George was mostly influenced by his British upbringing. His mentality is more British. And he's never been religious.
@@glynistoschik I have prayed , so hard, that George was saved at ANY point in his life...even in the last seconds ! I really hope to see him, some day !
@@lavenderfields2910 surely we all loved him, and still miss him to see him again. I wished that he was still alive, and he was happy! George knew it. He understands it because on an interview on Greek TV the lady was asking him questions in Greek and he answered her in English.

Dear George Michel, why did not you stay loyal to your Greek nation and Orthodox Church?
Maybe because he's British. Born in Britain, raised by a British mother and schooled in Britain. His father is from Cyprus as people know, but George was mostly influenced by his British upbringing. His mentality is more British. And he's never been religious.
