Super charming Cottage Garden tour on Mackinac Island!! w/ a sunken patio!

- This was one of my first projects on the island when I started my landscaping company there in 2008. Now, we are being asked to design an additional space and tune things up a little bit… I love coming back into these gorgeous gardens and seeing them age, while being able to enhance and update them as well. Enjoy this fun little tour!

While the big projects are beautiful, I love this idea for a little project. It sounds so neat. This was so sweet of the owners to donate this property for the children's riding academy. Ya the Lion's lose a lot but I still like them. I'm excited to see how this turns out. Thanks for bringing us along.

☀️Such a great testament to your very early projects with the garden border walls - they look beautiful with the grown plantings! I see with all your videos your touch and inspired me to build a stack stone wall on a garden bed around our home. Just reminds me of Mackinaw and old English gardens. Thanks for taking us along, Jack. It's interesting to see how you go about figuring out a space and coming up with solutions. This is the first house I think you've shown us that doesn't appear to be on the scale of a mansion. It's nice to see how the "other half lives." I just had a question. You mentioned cutting back the maple trees to open up the sky for vegetable gardening. The maples on the right seem to be behind the fence in the neighbor's yard. Will you be able to cut them? I'm also wondering how a crew would get up the tree to cut it without machinery being allowed on the island. Thank you again for letting us tag along.
Any branch overhanging ones property can be cut by that property owner~~ besides, the neighbors are clients too :)

With your great knowledge in plants, please advise me.... I just purchased 9 (3 gal) white wedding hydrangeas and 6 (1 gal) encore azaleas. Had dug holes for placement of each and now have injured my leg. Can I just put the container w/plant in the hole, cover up to w/mulch and water each til spring, then plant each correctly? (Ga. Zone 7b).
